Oats and smoothies make up the majority of my own diet, but I still totally agree! It gets so boring to watch basically the same meals over and over on channel after channel, especially when it’s more or less what I’m eating myself. Variety is good to see!
Ha! Kelsey, true that! I literally just posted a WIAT Vegan vid this morning and while editing I thought..."I will probably be judged for my frozen burgers and 'too much' gluten" Ha!
First I wake up and align my root chakra for 170 minutes then I drink 2 gallons of warm lemon water then I eat a bowl of overnight oats mixed with: banana, raspberries, cacao nibs, maple syrup, coconut flakes, almond butter, an acai pack, hemp seeds, avacado, a Starbucks giftcard, a whole foods employee, and, the van I live in.
What i hate are all "High protein" vegan products that say 9g, 16g or 20g of protein and when you look at the calories it is like 400-450kcal per that amount of protein. I mean oats are 350kcal with like 14g of protein and oats aren't even considered super high protein, but when your product claims to be high protein and doesn't even have as much as oats then you are just fucking us over. This is what i give credit for in the non vegan protein bars is that they actually try to have like +20g of protein per 200-300kcal.
That's true. I think if you'd wanted to adjust that vegan protein: calorie ratio to your liking you'd have to make the food itself. I mean plant based products generally more carbs than protein (unelss you're looking at soy based meat substitutes or something) which even though technically proteins are higher in calories per gram, the extra carbs and/or added sugar from most plant based products usually up the calorie count. Like I make my own plant based protein bars using a vegan protein powder and a few other ingredients and I find it so much more filling from the protein and fiber without being drastically high in calories per serving from carbs
I don't think that is a technical problem, i think the people who make these just don't have an idea about what high protein really is. I would say 30-50% of calories coming from protein is about optimal for a high protein product.
Geez, people are so judgemental! I'm so tired of people insinuating that in order to be a true vegan you have to eat like a cow. It's ridiculous. It's unsustainable, it's not possible in all areas of the world (when you're looking at cost and the availability of a VARIETY of healthy foods), it's too expensive for most people to feel satisfied unless they enjoy beans and can tolerate gluten and rice, and it's kind of not safe to preach 100% whole foods to everyone. Perfect example: There's a trend going around here on RU-vid of people going vegan, eating the "super healthy" whole foods way, then 5 minutes later they post a rant on how their hair fell out and they almost died. Most likely they fail because they were eating a super high carb, low or (almost) no fat, low protein diet but called it healthy because it was full of fresh fruits and vegetables. Whatever the reason, whether people are RU-vidrs or not they tend to share their stories on the evils of veganism to their loved ones or anyone who will listen, I hear this crap all the time, and this is doing nothing for human health, the planet, or the animals. A lot of people have trouble finding balance eating this way. And when these people fail they spread the word, "I couldn't do it so it isn't healthy". Pushing an entirely whole foods diet on all people is not the answer. I say to each his own, whatever works for you is fine with me because if you're happy, thriving, and not balding then you're going to stay vegan and combat all of those vegan horror stories by simply being living proof that it works. I think this channel is very important because it doesn't focus on what foods you should eat but instead what nutrients your body needs, allowing you to find sources of each that work for your budget and lifestyle. Now you don't have to agree with me, but you do have to be respectful. What are your thoughts? Are you tired of people telling you that your doing vegan the wrong way?
Denine, well said! We are a vegan family of 6 and we do eat A TON of fruit but it is so $$$$. We also eat tons of potatoes, oats, beans, and other more affordable vegan staples. I have FOUR boys, including identical twins, and they never stop eating! It's awesome but $$$
Marie Johnson I'll bet! Fruit is amazing and I'd love to eat more of it. I live in an agricultural town so you'd think we would have decent and affordable fruit, but we don't. It's most likely being shipped out somewhere, so what we're left with are apples, oranges, and bananas. Everything else is ridiculously expensive an way underripe. I can't remember the last time I had a ripe peach or a strawberry that wasn't hard and sour 😥
Denine, wow. I actually live in Central Florida so produce is abundant here. We have access to anything and everything we could ever want produce wise but a lot of it is overpriced! Thank you for reminding me that food deserts are real and it is such a privilege to have such access.
Marie Johnson You're welcome :). We have a lot of roadside fruit stands and they used to sell fruit that was higher quality than what we could find in our grocery stores and for a much better price but now they're just as bad. Expensive and underripe. The sad thing is, I'm sure that there are people who have even less access to good produce. Our fruit is garbage not we had decent veggies. I can't imagine not having access to fresh veggies 😟
I'm pretty much in the opposite situation to some people. Food supplies are kind of weird here, bread is the worst, often there's none or just one or two stale loaves in the shops. Randomly whole food types will vanish from the shops for weeks, like olives or sugar. It's a pain. The market always has fruit and vegetables though. But packet stuff, stock up while you can!
I’d love to see a video about reconciling both wanting large corporations to see the value in plantbased line/companies while not wanting to support those large corporations for other reasons. I ask because I recently discovered Sweet Earth Foods is owned by Nestle (a company I boycott because of their use of slave & child labor, the formula related infant deaths, & the harm their purchasing of water sources has done in developing nations.) Obviously I’m an American typing this question on an iPhone so I’m well aware being ethically perfect isn’t in the cards for me but I can’t decide if it is better to just skip this particular vegan product (which will in no way impact my life,) or support it anyway to show Nestle (a company I hate,) that a plantbased product is profitable.
A popcorn-tip for making the flavouring stick: If you blend all the flavourings and salt together it makes it a lot easier to adhere to the popcorn 👌🏻 You can make batches and store it in jars or something! (Also a cool , cheap gift idea to bring to movie nights along with a pack of popcorn kernels)
Richard Aguiar -- It may sound weird for some, but I use a moderate amount of maple syrup (and of course you can use other syrups) and add a moderate amount of garlic salt as well (now that I think about it, garlic salt and nutritional yeast sound good together!).
I spilt nutritional yeast on my carpet yesterday in the hallway so it went into all the cracks in the doorway and just everywhere and I wanted to cry. Yes. It can get messy.
Liquid Life thanks :) it's definitely my favorite painting by Marilyn Manson not only because of how awesome it looks but the fact that some one said to him "why don't you paint something nice, like a flower." so he did and used the dirty water from his previous paintings, I think that's so cool and I love that he made something beautiful out of ugliness.
Yesssss exactly he made something gorgeous out of the urgg to piss someone off which is a metaphor for all of his work really. I still like his recent work whats ur oppinion of it most fans only like his old work
Liquid Life I will always have a strong love for his older stuff, I love everything about it (the austetic, philosophical references, the message to be yourself and have self expression, [the way Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood work together so well], etc. [I could say so much more but I'm sure you already know.]) with that being said I definitely love his newer stuff as well I don't think it's as complex, but I still love it and I think his newest album is better than anticipated.
Asian Supermarket stank in my part of the US is usually the result of the market carrying durian, not so much the open fish displays (although sometimes those do contribute, depends on how corporate your Asian megamart is). Also carrying fish sauce leaves you open to this because sometimes bottles of it explode during shipment, and then you've got a whole case of fish sauce that no matter how much you rinse the bottles the smell never quite goes away.
Whole wheat pasta has *definitely* come a long way, you are not imagining it. I grew up eating it, took a few years break from it when I first moved in with my partner, came back to it and WOAH! I'm hoping rice-pasta's are going to improve in a similar kind of texture way as they get more popular. --- And I need to try that red-lentil pasta- Idk if it has the lentil flavour but I actually like lentils a lot. X3
Koyo brand ramen is vegan, has no palm oil, and is found at Whole Foods & many other popular natural food stores. They also have low-sodium varieties. It’s delicious, too.
I love MSG. I love how people demonize it while eating tomatoes and mushrooms because tomatoes and mushrooms have MSG and it's in your body as well. You shouldn't eat too much because of the salt, but a little bit isn't going to hurt you unless you can't have extra salt.
I love nutritional yeast on popcorn and you’re the only person who I’ve heard of that does it too! It’s amazing so I feel like more people would do it but whatevs 😋
Don't know if you have an air popcorn popper but I keep a small spray bottle of dill pickle juice. I lightly spray the popcorn while it is popping, and then add a little nooch and salt once it is all popped.
Blend some nutritional yeast with some cashews, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, and salt. Blend it until its really fine, the finer it is the better it sticks to popcorn. I keep a bag of that stuff to sprinkle on my popcorn whenever I eat it. I've even taken it to the movies to put on their popcorn!
Thanks for recommending Isa's book. I have really enjoyed it. I love the chicky salad and will have to try your soup once it cools down (I live in the south).
I think Isa explains the pronunciation of her name in the Isa Does It book. It's definitely eeeeeeesa! Looking forward to an MSG video. I'm not worried about it, but curious to find out any nutritional information.
It would be amazing if you could do a video on grain consumption in animal agriculture, I think this could be one of the most compelling factors towards veganism if it was advertised properly.
I like your stuff 😂 its sad that everything I can buy in Germany what is vegan is like 3 € for 200g or so and I'm a student, so no money 😂 !!! I hope in the future there are going to be more options😅
your skin is so clear! and... lately i've been making myself a matcha latte every night. i add cashew milk and organic maple syrup as a sweetener. it tastes pretty good. :p
Okay I'm seriously jealous at the ramen, the asian market I go to used to have those awesome little oil free ramen patties but they stopped carrying them!! They were THE BEST. Ugh.
Hi Swayze! First and foremost, I’m sorry that you have to deal with so many people judging you for your food choices 😕 But If wanted to ask you something. In previous videos, you have stated that you don’t like to snack all day long, but rather to have meals. In this video, however, you seemed to snack all day long. Has your position change?
Cinnamon Puffins aren't garbage! Haha I kinda felt personally offended because I've been buying them for years. Sure they don't taste like Cinnamon Life or Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but obviously those taste more of sugar than of cinnamon. Cinnamon lovers, don't be afraid to try the Cinnamon Puffins.
Ahhh, this reminds me of a sun dried tomato and tofu Alfredo I made like a decade ago and I don’t remember where I got the recipe from so I can make it again lol.
I love those pre-cooked vegetable dumplings! I thought it was MY obscure, secret find. I nuke them in my vegetable steaming tray and eat them with a dim sum dipping sauce.
Great! Now I'm hungry 😑 I swear, I always watch food videos when I'm about to sleep. I keep watching mukbang videos too, and then I go devour what's in the fridge. No wonder I'm getting fat.
imagine having to figure out what you are a kids, and why you can't just have the pink barbie stuff that you like because it's gendered. We all have a biological gender. That mentally you may not fully identify with one gender over another is fine, but you don't start thinking about that stuff until puberty. Let kids be kids and just tell them that their biological gender is female/male (unless they are the 1% non-gendered or two gendered people)
Wait...WHAT?!?!?! You made a video hating on how unhealthy Ellen Fisher is and you post a what I eat in a day featuring THIS?!?!?! Breakfast=processed junk, lunch=processed junk, snack=processed junk, dinner=processed junk, more snack=processed junk! Every single meal and snack made from either a box or a bag! The only fresh items were a handful of blueberries next to your processes bagel with extra processed cream cheese and a smattering of celery in your watered down soup! WOW, you are really really full of it lady.
I would be interested in watching a video about MSG. However, I would appreciate it if you would not dismiss those of us who do have sensitivities to flavour enhancers as xenophobes or crackpots. I know that if I eat foods containing flavour enhancers, I will have a very specific reaction. I've had this problem since I was a child. The thing that does perplex me is that I can eat at some restaurants that I know the food contains MSG, but others I cannot. Maybe it's the quantity? Or maybe it's not MSG at all, but another flavour enhancer that is the culprit?
Hi! New follower and I haven't watched back enough videos I guess, but can someone explain why she just calls the baby "baby?" Is it a privacy thing? And she also uses gender neutral pronouns for them which is cool! Is that like a feminist stance thing? Thanks!
She made a video that she uses gendered pronouns in real life, but that she says baby because she wants the babys name, gender, face, everything to be gender neutral.
A bagel without a hole is called the bialy! I like Amy soups. You are aware that there is palm oil that comes from the United States, right? And that's not how you make homemade Ramen you make the soup base first and bring it to a boil and then you add your noodles and I get millet and brown rice noodles only because they aren't so oily by ingredients list anyway on the package. That's why the picture of your pasta look so gross. I use whole wheat pasta for everything and if that's not good enough in my vegan life tough shit. My ass is going to be in a wheelchair with my cat and his carrier on August 31st as my mother is tossing me out of this apartment and she pays most of the rent for. She has also decided to leave me without my medications including insulin because she didn't want to go one mile to the pharmacy I have no transportation and no caregiver right now and I am not feeling well. I take a lot of medication and they deliver but they won't deliver insulin and they won't deliver to with my other medications.
