In America, the custom is called a Hope Chest. The young girl and her family members (usually Mom, Grandmothers, Aunts) add home linens or decorations or heirlooms and then the bride takes it to her new home with her husband. It is a beautiful tradition.

You need to do more 1:1 interviews with the people you love and ask these same questions - I am so inspired and it really made me revisit my experiences and reassess them in a different perspective that helped me gain insight, knowledge and made me feel see the positive.
