In recovery. 8 months clean. Putting my life back together. Reading Russel's book Recovery and listening to his podcasts has been so calming, comforting and helpful.
@@lukesneesby8327 He doesnt really get that choice. He may be retired from acting, but he is celebrity. Happens when you get famous. You don't get to say you're not.
"Prayer, Meditation, Duty, Obligation, Service to Others, Self care through prayer and meditation." Russell, you're our Elder now with the honing of yourself, committed to Truth and Love. What a Gem and a Blessing! xo
@@RussellBrand What beautiful words. :) Thank you for helping others Russell. God bless you. May all your pain be removed. And all your being be sanctified by God's grace. You are a light in the dark. Keep shining like the Sun and showing others the way. You have a sacred heart within you. Christ is upon you. Love. Amen.
Thank you Russell! Every word is a gift. I'm sorry your wisdom comes through the pain of a troubled past. But alas.. we are so grateful for your sharing of self. Namaste
Thanks for this Russell. Alcohol is my weakness and one I turn to to ‘cope’ with difficult feelings. Doesn’t really help, just makes me feel more anxious and low. Your videos give me more hope.
What you've become is really beautiful to me. You've really embraced a lot and i feel like this is a step for me where im embracing things slowly and trying to be aware. I suffer with severe anger issues, anxiety, and lately depression so this was truly insightful.
I love the description of the transcendence of identity or the egoic self as being "free from the narrativizing mind" and so "aware of the vibrant nothingness." Thank you for sharing this - it's immensely helpful. Love to everyone!
Meditation with reggae is my happy place. Roots Reggae is so spiritually uplifting and positive, it really helps me get into a state of gratitude and thankfulness. 🙏 Love to All!
i wanted to be critical of your statement but i can find no fault in your logic. other than it is foriegn music and it may be trying to take over your own kind. but hey, not sure about that.
i've been slacking a lot in my personal focus. lately all i can do is focus on the outside.. on specific other people. and of course it's making me all out of sorts mentally. i don't have much structure to my life at all. as an isolated person with a history of trauma and mild addiction to many things, who also has adhd, i really need structure and discipline and boundaries. and i haven't been parenting myself well lately. i really appreciate your videos in general but i really appreciate this one particularly because it can help me recenter that focal point. i really need to start sleeping on a normal schedule and keeping to a work schedule and making time for my meditation and my walks every day. i sort of don't make it a consistent thing. though i am proud of myself, i do my three pages of journaling every single day. it's not the first thing i do though.. i spend too much time looking at the phone instead of going back to sleep, getting sucked into things. thank you for this work that you do and how you make it public so we can all benefit from your learning. i think ill go meditate right now. well, i'm cooking food. i'll meditate right after that.
I'm highly impressed by you...I mean you're actually cooking! Lol...keep up the good work. At least you're still practicing mindfulness. I'm just a sleepless mess who decided not to cook or eat. I know, not the smartest thing to do. I'm gonna turn that around and I'm sure you'll have better days too. 💚
As a vet who also found Transcendental Meditation to be enormously helpful (a life saver for me), it is great to hear Russell talk about how he makes TM the anchor at the start of his day. TM is easy to learn, easy to practice (best part of my day, every day), and if you want to find out more about it: TM.org and DavidLynchFoundation.org (great short videos)
Discipline is fundamental. In my case there’s another thing that helps me be creative - letting go of the control. I’m at my creative best when I let go of the grasping of outcome and other things that bind me to the physical plane. Being authentic helps let go of the fear and I allow the intrinsic force to guide me. The idea of letting go is so simple yet so profound. I knew it conceptually but it took years of meditation practice to be able to see how the ego creates blocks in being able to let go of the grasping. Thank you so much for the video 🙏🏼
The evolution of Russell Brand! I love that this man knows himself! Wants 2 know himself n understands that he can grow n improve n get better n better! He started out beautiful now he is enhancing it but also sharing his findings 2 help others! He sees his family as grounding! As a gift not a burden! How many people understand that! Thank u Russell n ur lovely family, wife, children, n pets!
I’m a transcendental meditator as of three years and I started because of my add, depression and anxiety disorders. Haven’t had a strict routine in a while now but I’m inspired and will get back on it. As always, thank you kindly for sharing 🙏
Do you find it helps? I have ADHD as well. I'm really struggling with feeling unmotivated, and just doing the bare minimum that I have to each day. I have turned to previous healthy coping strategies that were successful...... but...... it doesn't stick. I fall back into feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, and unmotivated... then distracting myself.

Russell, you are the best! You encourage the spirit of "noblesse oblige" - of celebrity (or any other high status) privelage giving back to the society they are from. You are aware, you want to encourage awareness, you know your position and you seek to use it to also help others. Your words and energy reflect true effort, kindness and honesty. That is why we love you. Thank you! And, in addition to all the beautiful Zen, I will forever admire your witty humour and very English antics (I watched a recent interview with Conan which had me double over)! 🌹👏
Going to work every day makes you insane. As long as you have an income, whatever you do is up to you. Read, take up a sport, exercise, meditate, get high, have a drink, meditate, take up cooking, paint your place, learn to paint, listen to podcasts, nap, make things, be an artist, make bird houses, clean your house, unpack your life, take care of your yard. Teach your kids. Investigate things online you've been meaning to look up. Dance, get your freak on, start a meet up group, climb a tree, start a garden, lay in the grass and look at the sky.
I find myself thankful for all the things that brought you to this place where, now, you can share information that positively nudges others to find healthier, more fulfilling paths. Thank you for sharing this. You've provoked me to rethink how I begin my day. It's little wonder that, if I start off in chaos, my functionality, productivity and peace runs off the rails as the day progresses.
What this video tells me is that you have your priorities straight and place God first. You take care of your spiritual, mental and physical health. You are well-rounded and avoid venturing into extremes. And you live your life with an attitude of gratitude and at the service of others. You found the key to true happiness and that is why you shine as brightly as you do. It's beautiful to see. Stay blessed dear Russell!
So awesome, insightful and intelligent is this man! People that disregard and diss you because of your past are the people who MOST need to heed your reflections!!
Your my inspiration I'm 7months soba thanks to your book recovery & every now and then I watch u explain your 12 step program and I share your wisdom in meetings, I was homeless for 4yrs with ptsd top man , can't wait to meet you one day , stay safe 🙏👍🙏

I’m glad I found this. This checklist is like the one I use. 5 years sober now using these things on a Daily basis. Thank you brother, peace be with you
i love the description of yoga as a practice/tantra to extended meditation. the awareness of the physical creates the spacing and frame for the transcendental. x
Today, I realize, I am addiction to help unnecessarily people! And finally, not help me , even brings me to troubled! Big thanks Russell! Now I’m really understanding, I’ll clean everything, as soon as possible! Cut out those so-called long time friends! And continue meditation, find myself!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 again! You are exactly right time....
I say leave it perched! XD Russell your videos often resonate so much with what I'm going through in the times that you create them. Along with my irl supports you've also helped me sit and practice thinking about myself and what I do each day in ways that are kinder, more practical and forgiving. I had a lot of trauma leading up to this year. But each day I eat enough and eat better. I have standards for my day and I remind myself of all that I've accomplished each day and that Ive gained an understanding of agency. I've shaken off the fears of ruining my own life and putting it in the hands of others because I know i can find my way out of what mistakes I make. Thank you for keeping up with us and helping to build positive online interactions. It's created an incredible ripple effect in what I share wih my loved ones who are also struggling under capitalism. We can overcome and change the paradigms forced on us and I believe many of us already are. To simply exist, under a system that tells us we do not belong in it unless we participate in an arbitrary value system , Is a revolution in and of itself.

As long as you stay aware.... Even while doing the dishes you can remind yourself :"I am." From Mooji I learned about the two birds (inside of us) One that is busy rearranging the nest, worrying about all kinds of stuff, thinking about where to get worms for the little ones... The other is just observing all of what's going on. It's not disturbed, doesn't judge, it's just aware of what's going on. That second one is the real "you". Awareness.
I am a chaos being that is attempting to switch my alignment. My cat Jaqen and my husband are my role models bc they are both super cool and fun but still have lawful qualities that I want to embody. Balance things out. Awareness is everything, indeed, bc I've noticed that I've hit a tipping point since I've begun going hard on Eckhart. My efficiency at things is exponentially increasing way more than when I was just somewhat mindful. People can still be hard. Especially the ones who want so badly to cling to roles when you're trying to connect with them. It always bums me out for a minute.
I was in a (brief) relationship with someone who was a recovering addict. It consumed our life. Nonstop talking about it. Is this how it is for most people in recovery? While I tried to support him I struggled and found it draining to constantly talk about it, especially as I also have my own issues. It seemed to me that the addict in recovery cannot see past themselves. It is good that Russell's family give him time he needs to set his mind for the day. I would like to hear Russell talk about relationship dynamics and how to accommodate everyone's needs in a family. It is a struggle for many people.. who are either fighting for their own needs to be considered or ignoring their own needs while supporting someone else.
I really enjoy listening to you. 😊 You're one of the few people the I feel like I resonate with in this whole process inside and outside. I love listening to Father Mike Schmitz also and other people who aim to make the spiritual practical. I'm not coming from a background of substance abuse but I know how painful this feeling of utter lack is. The idea of starting your morning with reading something that brings you back into contact with your higher beingness sounds great. Definitely I need to start my day with focusing and not looking at my phone first. Maybe I'll find a way to start my day with Scripture, that would be good. I love your hat 🧢🐶 and I'd appreciate it if you wore it more often at the beginning of your videos. ☺️
Russell, I feel blessed to have found your videos and your book, Recovery. You are the real deal. Keep keepin on brother! Keep standing in your TRUTH! Keep getting well. It's a marathon this life, this thing called recovery. And thanks to role models like your, we can be inspired to keep going, one day at a time. Peace to you my brother!
I am behind on a lot personally, a lot to do to get everything in order and feng shui blessed!!! I have a whole house full of stuff in my living room and yoga room that I have to go through, sort, organize, and get into storage...the universe shallguide me through me it!!😌😌😌
Getting better everyday Clear concise affirmations of what We need done Clear visualisations of it done Clear corresponding feelings (emotions) to what We want done More focused attention and concentration on completion done everyday Getting better everyday We got this! Love and Light Dana
I appreciate you being out there. It has been an experience to discover that there is a certain comfort to having a structure to the day. As an Actor (no work) artist and writer I have found I can go deeper in the silence feel more connected more spiritual more productive.. I do hope you realise how valuable you are to people like me. Thank you
Dear Russell, thank you for insight - I really appreciate the input that I'm not being a twit for trying to establish a discipline. I had just got to feeling that I was wasting my time, or being self-indulgent. It's just so encouraging to hear this. Thanks so much.
I like the way you live Russell. I live myself very similarly. Within my life I leaned that I have to prioritize my spiritual, psychological & physical practices so I can function, be happy & actually be of help to others. I am in your camp!
I’m greatful to Russel brand and RU-vid media for content like this....!!! You change way of thinking and perspective of life of many people for the better..... Thank you 😊
Russell if you ever fall off the wagon I'll despair. If you don't keep it up with all these resources, I don't know what hope there will be for the rest of us. Thank you for sharing what works for you daily xx
Mr. Brand! I don't know why you came up in my RU-vid list, but I am grateful you did! Thank you for making this extremely honest video. It truly was a blessing! Nay God bless YOU richly in return!
When I watch your videos, I often see people asking you to slow down. Please don’t! I am a fast speaker. I think I am drawn to your show because of the way you communicate! I feel like you are speaking my language. I understand your train of thought because it is on my frequency. Also, I have been told to slow down my entire life. It feels like people are putting a harness on my thought process. Be you Russel! Be you!
I'm so glad you're in recovery and that you share this part of Russell brand with us. It's your higher self, for sure. You help remind me to stay on track. Prayer. Meditation. Service. Rshsps with others. Being with others in recovery is a must for me. And you are one of them - so thanks! I still have to do the real social thing of in person meetings or .... I'm good right now. Way Gooder than 9 years ago. So I'll keep coming back. Thank you.
So often we talk of _anxiety triggers_ that set off agressive behaviour or depressive cycles. Contrarily there are *positive triggers* which catalyse wellbeing. At the *start of the day* by doing as Russell does including reading a paragraph of an inpirtiation book eg Calm, hope or peace or vigor can catalyse positivity. Especially effective as you get out of bed in the morning. Little gusts of spirit to create storms of joy
Man this is crazy, I was lead here from his talks with Jordan Peterson but he helps me just as much! And what's crazy is I never would have thought it 10 years ago. I say that's awesome for both of us!!!

Listening to you brings up the grateful frequency inside me for finally seeing a man like you(just a little bit of you that I see which can be a lot)🙏🍃
when I was a single parent with two children and working full time I needed a schedule as my children needed a schedule also. Now that they are grown up I have more free time for chanting, yoga, walking and painting which painting has become second nature for me at first creativity was a struggle to find a voice work on my technique find time to paint with all my other obligations. Being Clean is most important and my top priority or I will lose everything I have worked for. I am living and have lived with addicts and mentally ill people and this has really shown me I can change no one but myself and empathy. Keep up the good work you seem like a good father . Also durning this time of covid I feel like I am in GOD'S graces and like groundhogs day becoming most like I want to be before I bring it to the world and also lose the hat

How do you navigate morning time and space as a married person? I need time for a spiritual practice in the morning, while my partner really likes to sleep in and snuggle. So much of what I read about morning routines and practices doesn’t acknowledge how to do this while having a partner. Would love to hear more about how you other people make it work! - Thank you so much for your abundant spirit! So much gratitude for you
Thank you for sharing! It is hard to express how helpful your videos are. I connect with your ideas and find your perspective one that I identify with.
I always enjoy Russels' humorous preludes before getting down to the serious stuff.Great sense of humour .I consider my own insanity to be one of controlled madness which from time to time gets out of hand.It thinks therefore I am not
may the inner circle at heart of the concentric rings of our / ones external existence continue to align so as to support a daily structure and your needs infinitesimally on this journey trudging the life of happy destiny
9:09 I was on board with most of it until here. You carve out time to socialize just like you do for prayer and meditation, which I also do but throughout the day and not necessarily as soon as I wake up because rigidity is anathema to what I wish to experience, lol. It is as valuable and beneficial as having a good diet, sleeping well, and exercising to keep your body fit. Forging connections with other people makes life more interesting and allows you to explore other areas of your own self through your interactions with friends and acquaintances. You also come across new ideas and perspectives and begin to appreciate the quirks and qualities of those in your life outside of your immediate family. You listen to others, share your own insight, and observe your internal state change. Finally, when fully developed, you learn to interact with all sorts of people, how to have dynamic conversations about all sorts of topics, and learn to remain at ease in small and large groups alike just as easily as being by yourself in the comfort of your own bed.
I Love this guy, No Homo. He is so intelligent and smart, his voice is music to my ears. I work night shift and I listen to his podcast all night long.
Are we sure those are even Russel’s arms? It kind of looks like someone’s behind him doing that trick where they use their arms as his arms, and interpret his speech through hand motions. 😜 Russel, try eating breakfast cereal next! 😂
Great talk video, I really enjoyed the reminder to be present in myself. It's something that people take for granted, especially someone who dealt with addiction in life. Self care keeps us sane.
Old Russ, I was wondering if you could do a video on finding happiness and how to know/find out what you want out of life please and thank you. You're my Hero

Amazing monogue. Thank you for this! I might argue that a Buddhist perspective is not about a relationship with the present moment, but an identity with it. My apprehension to most Christian leanings has to do with this distinction - that the church encourages a relationship with the divine as the end-game trophy; Buddhism encourages an identity with the divine as a conscious and ongoing practice. Enough from me; I love your channel.
Russel first I want to say I love you! I wish I was your friend.! Why you ask? You have helped me so much in so many ways ! For example you make a bit of sense about addiction, helps me with the things going on in the world that were putting fear in my life here in the us and help me find humor in some things which I find so funny and helps me see a different perspective on things that make life seem doomsday drama for me ! I learn new words every day from your large vocabulary!! Many many more things I have needed to learn , never could ! Makes my mind wonder ! You help me to calm my mind !! Thank you for being you ! Forever your friend Monica
Gosh... portals.... possibilities... a lot to think about ! The mind could go crazy thinking about all of that. Understand why you meditate in the mornings. Interesting ideas on prayer focus. 🙏☀️
Thanks Russel for these videos. You are truly wise and make me feel not alone as an introspective individual. Keep up the videos. God bless you and your family
I appreciate the help and advice you’ve been giving to all of us who watch. I’ve incorporated your lessons into my routine myself, and I’m starting to actually understand how to cope with the circumstances of my neurosis, and have become aware of my psychosis through your anxiety video. Thank you for your contributions to our culture and hopefully the change that can happen in our pocket of social existence.
Absolutely love this. Question? What involvement does your wife and children have with the help of your recovery? What is your support network?. Amazing,I hope your proud of how far you have come.
Thank you Russell........you have inspired me to build structures, to keep me from chaos...omg it is so hard to do this alone..... the covid isolation is intense and hurting .... i pray today, to find, the help, i need, from this first step listening to you, to the next and the next after that.... building, recreating, a new world inside and out ..... funny i have been watching videos of people building houses from scratch...... starting from the ground up....oh , how to keep going when there is no tribe to assist? when an addiction has you in its grip, ....but it can be done as brave souls, alone, have done before me, building shelters without help, my hermit self says..... more prayers more prayers.... my question to you is....what was your first step when you were hurting and alone and addicted? did you pray? was that your first step? for some reason.... praying is all i can do right now.... and cry cry cry..... the moon is so full today....the moon is so full ..thank you for your words...... i remember long ago, i watched you perform in seattle.... i was in the second row stage right .... i could see you in the wings behind the curtain nervous and anxious before you came forward to face the audience....when you emerged, you lumbered across the stage, eyes down and stopped as you stood right before me, we made eye contact, you bowed a bit and took a deep breath, calming yourself...then you began to speak...... little bits of human contact can do so much....i am a nurse, so i guess you knew i was a safe center from which to begin ...to begin ...to begin....we all must begin again. Pray , pray , pray. Blessings to you, Russell.
