I got a question. Is being diesel mechanic better or worse than regular auto mechanics?? Im a Senior in highschool trying to figure out whats better and not many people around me know a whole lot about either one.

Spikee Donut hey brother, also a senior in high school, and I attend a “ Vo-Tech “ every day during school. I at first wanted to be a gas mechanic but as I started looking more in depth I found that my real passion is diesel mechanics. Some important things to remember are, 1. Yes more often than not diesel mechanics do make more than gas mechanics. Not all the time but a lot of the time. 2. Although diesel and gas engines are different they are kind of the same as in they both still have to have the 3 basic principles for a car to run. Fuel, Compression, Spark. I would also recommend getting familiarized with diesel engines, if it at all interests you. 3. As I mentioned with getting familiarized with Diesel engines, even though they are somewhat the same as gas engines but not really. One of the main differences is that a diesel fuel injected system injects diesel fuel directly into the cylinder where as in a gas engine a carburetor or port injection is used to inject fuel. 4. The most important advice I can give and trust me I may be a senior but I have been preached this my entire life is DO WHAT YOU WANT. The money WILL always be there because there is such a shortage in every trade. Don’t go where the moneys at because 9 times out of 10 you’ll hate your job. Do what you have a passion for. Weather it be Marine Mechanics, diesel, gas... etc

Jason Watson no problem! And I completely understand. Electric cars are becoming bigger and bigger nowadays, but don’t worry when/ if you get on at a shop, you normally will go through training every once in awhile to stay familiarized with it. And also we have quite awhile before hybrids completely take over. For the most part there will always (hopefully) be both gas, electric cars. So if that is the only thing preventing you from pursuing this then don’t worry about it at all. All the pieces will fall into place eventually, trust me. I hope you go to do great thing with your life!

Mr. Seville is cool and let’s a bunch of us hangout, stay, chill or whatever at his spot. He’s got lots of money and I know you want to surround yourself with successful people. He cool and gets it. Most people I’ve met that are in there 30’s aren’t cool like him but it’s probably cause he does something jn the entertainment industry I thjnk. Nothing wrong with working hard to move up, but if it requires massive amounts of student loan debt, the cost is more than the reward. If your employer at the time shared some of the burden of the cost, then it may be worth it. I've paid tuition for employees for job specific education. 95% of my employees are paid on commission which means they are very productive and worth holding on to.

@@capcap7456 get a lot of people who needs lawn mowed, clean ups,etc. Theres a lot of money in stuff like that. Anything where it take 15 minutes to do and you're charging 50 bucks roughly. And you have 10 mowers. Yeah that's just a small part of it. Not only that but you could get a bunch of high schoolers to do the clean ups on weekends or after school and because they are high schoolers. 9 or 10 bucks an hour is amazing to them

Known College $35,000-$80,000+books Theres technical 3 levels, but i split it to 4 as a community college will get you a discount over regular known colleges though the exact degree through the larger. Least what ive noticed with my fellow classmates i still talk to. Have to concider you country. Here its a money game that I personally lost $20,000 in. Up there its free but book fees as you stated. 2 different placess in general.

I am 16 and a junior in high school, I’m really interested in becoming a welder. What should I know before I make my decision next year is it difficult? Fun? How’s the pay?

If you like to get your hands dirty they you’ll love it. I just graduated high school and going to school for it no regrets just depends on your interests

@@liamcook9840 Theres definitely a challenge to it and many different types and techniques. building your experience is the thing you need to focus on before you can start making really good money. The more you weld the more you network and you'll have a bunch of opportunities some like working on the pipelines or being an aerospace welder. the money is there for all the different specifics of welding you just need to find the one that interests you the most. be humble and always be willing to learn. only thing i can say. best of luck buddy. also try to get yourself a small starter welding job (like mig welding) while you're in school for it. it'll definitely put you ahead in your classes and in front of your classmates. techniques from mig transfer and help you understand and be able to better your other types of welding

Riley there will always be gas work. The city heats with it, cooks with it etc. I did cross country pipeline then went to distribution work. Get to go home every night decent wage too.

I did post a check stub on my Econ’s poster board. She asked me how did I make as much as she did in a month in a week. That was my 1st check stub.

Joe honestly I kinda hope some of them smack me in the mouth. because they need to know they are still kids that will be in an adult world. As noted I have not said this and I hope I never wil,l but when you deal with some of these kids that have no motivation, even after constant pep talking and trying to push them to do better they still think they can go without a diploma, you might feel inclined to show some "tough love" to get them to do better.

Ive got a bs in engineering. Been working in high stress high tech big corporations for sometime. The job sucks and im maxed out at 80g with bonus n overtime n unless i defect to the dark side to go into management im at high risk of a layoff. Ive just replaced 5gs of parts on my 03 chevy z71 crew. Took me 4 months but its basically equivalent to a 80g new truck today. So im not a lazy person or have no skills. As a side note yea im quitting my career n starting my own co. Ive had enough of the lies of academia n corporate america. Lol. These blue collar people made the right choice in my opinion. If u dont get a full ride scholarship to a university and in the right field forget about it. The elite wealthy corporate drones will eat ur lunch i guarantee it.

I had an English teacher like this I was on the borderline of literally failing out of high school. My teacher told me I'd be a janitor. I got so pissed off I took his class in the summer worked my ass off and Got an A plus. After went on to finish high school with a 3.9 goat and go on to college and major in finance. I also minored in English actually am still cool with that teacher.

Then I went to trade school and got on with a mom and pop place to learn everything I could. Calvin Pettet first It would probably be easier to get on with a company that does their own equipment maintenance. I’d say learn as much as you can, about all the equipment they have. If you can find a mobile tech job it’s the most fun I’ve had. And mobile techs make the most money because the hours and they pay more in my area atleast. I believe caterpillar has a school and John Deere has a school too 3 things to make sure you learn if you want to make $$$$$$ in equipment. Learn AG equipment, line boring(a dieing art really) and welding. Those 3 things on a resume will make you worth more than most other guys.

I hated school. So bored I couldn’t pay attention. Granite I wish I did pay more attention so I could have better credits for college. Just after graduation I was hired at Burger King, 2 years later I got fired in December for a no call no show. Now doing full time doordash and make more than I was. Going to get my cdl when I turn 21.
