I feel so bad that Amie had to make a video to explain her earnings and her love for things , I mean Amie is one of the nicest person on RU-vid

Especially when she isn't a fashion blogger who isn't gifted things or that her family/boyfriends doesn't buy her all the bags. If you want nice things in life, gotta work for it! She's should be an inspiration!

ExoticDreams She works hard. But what if she didn't have to, would that make her a bad person if she was well off or had the bf to give it to her? No. I think people need to respect anyone regardless where the money comes from.

I hate that people have made you feel like you should justify what you spend your money on!! It's your money, it's your choice! If I earned a decent wage, damn straight I'd be buying a Chanel bag (jumbo, caviar leather btw!) x
@maraviiia
@maraviiia 8 лет назад
I think from - viewer perspective it seems like this could be justification but I actually think from Amie's perspective, she's providing advice and insight based on her experiences (just like her bag videos). I think she took something that would make some people defensive and turned it into something so positive. :)
@SueLocd

I agree. Opening your life up on YT sometimes makes people feel like they can just crawl into every area of your life. Justifying what you do with your money is incredible to me... But that's just me I guess because I have the same reaction here in the Netherlands when people expect me to be open about how much I earn. Hmmm, maybe it's a British thing. I guess, we're just much more reserved on the whole...

ive been a very big fan of your videos for awhile now but have never been curious about your earnings and how you afford your beautiful luxurious items. I avoided watching this video for awhile since i thought you didn't have to justify how you can afford them. but after watching this video i actually admire you a lot more than i did before! You weren't showing off but were very kind & honest about your background. You have what you have because of hardwork and wise decisions! Keep it up Amie.. so many people out there will use this video as a form of inspiration (me included) .. all the best! X

I don't want to sound super feminazi or anything, but it really irritates me when I have something high-end or luxury, and everyone assumes my boyfriend bought it for me. "Oh, nice bag! Did your boyfriend buy it for you?" "Your shoes are so cute! Were they a gift from your boyfriend?" What, just because I'm female I'm incapable of making my own money and buying myself expensive things? My boyfriend never gets comments like that on his suits, watches or car. It's really annoying.
@Joyce019610
@Joyce019610 8 лет назад
So true! I'm in my maternity leave now, When I go to a high end store shopping with the pram, people always comment how luck I am. What does my husband do etc. I get so annoyed. I worked hard and saved enough money so I can take a full year off with my baby without putting any financial stress on my husband. And I bought most of the staff myself. My husband did gift me something, but I did the same for him. LV wallet, Armani suit, SF shoes, Hermes belt. No one ever asked him. How unfair!

pinknoted Absolutely nothing. I actually love getting gifts from him :p My issue isn't gifts from my boyfriend, but people automatically assuming anything expensive I have was a gift, basically saying they don't think I'm capable of making my own money.

This is a very helpful, insightful and well made video. Money is often an awkward subject but you talk about it so honestly and eloquently, it's like you're listening to a friend when watching this. Don't want to come across as patronising but I must have a good 5-10 years on you in age yet you seem wise beyond your years and provide advice here I wish I'd adhered to in my twenties! It's true, with a few exceptions, people who earn well do so through hard work and those who maintain their wealth do so by living well within their means. I think you're an excellent role model :)

I think in general something that makes me want to follow you is also that you have worked hard to get what you want, but also that it is achievable for me someday in the future. The video was great, non-preachy and I hope you won't be scared to mention money as well! I think it's really important to address if certain items are "worth it" from the reviewers perspective (i.e. you spend a lot of money on bags, but if a quality or use isn't up to standard, then you might not deem it worthy) I hope it makes sense, but anyway thanks for some great videos! Your positivity shines through all of them!

I subscribed to your channel a while ago because I was so impressed with your philosophy on money at such a young age. I see alot of young people who struggle with it and have a hard time with that concept, work = money = choices. I'm a woman in my late 40's and I can assure you that your money wisdom will give you alot of choice, freedom and security later in life. My husband and I have lived by the same philosophy, you and your boyfriend live by, for over 25 years. We are both retired and live very comfortably. :) I don't say these things to cheer myself I wanted to say them to let you know both your hard work will pay off! And what I love about your channel the most is you live within your means and yet you still make luxury purchases that make you happy. Others watching your channel, I'm sure, are inspired by that. Hard work can get you what you want. :) Bravo to you and your boyfriend!! And keep making these kinds of video's. I know there are others out there who will be inspired. :)

Despite liking luxury items, I never subscribe or watch any channels that specialises in these things other than yours. Do not let anyone tell you to explain how you got your money.....I'm a Psych Nurse in California and I used to make quite a bit of money plus my mother worked hard and I grew up watching her buy Luxury items from Rolex watches and Louis Vuitton bags. Obviously I too developed a passion for luxury items and when I could afford it I might buy a 2000K dollar bag, but I have been very sick and not able to work so I now buy just 300 dollar bags. Great video! I was inclined not to like it just because finances and YT seems to be a touchy subject, but yours was great. I am like you. I splurge on certain material items, but I can do that because I am frugal in most areas of my life. Hard work does pay off. I work in the home mostly now with my kids and it is the hardest job on earth with no salary. My husband works for a paycheck and I work for our quality of life. Our roles are very different but come together to create an organized happy life that we can enjoy as a family. Some would say it's too "traditional" but honestly it works great. I've learned that there is really no such thing as "having it all" but it is possible to have what you want if you are realistic about your priorities.

I can't believe you had to make a video addressing how much you earn. People are so rude and while I know you didn't mind making this video, it is really no one's business to know how much money you make and where you spend it. You are such a nice youtuber, you don't come off as fake like some other gurus on here (not naming names), and I love your informative videos. I would hate for you to stop making videos. Keep up the good work!

Come on! Name the names ... the "some" guru here on RU-vid. (Just kidding. I don't wanna stir up things here. But I can name one too.)

I agree that her videos are informative and that's all. She never tries to influence or force viewers to like her stuff. She simply gives out details and briefly speaks of her opinions. That's why I enjoy watching her channel.

You and me are about the same. I bought my first house 12 years ago at 24 years old, at that time i were a student, i had two jobs, i like handbags, i would spend money on a couple louis vuitton stuff, other than that, i live frugally, i buy my furniture at ikea, home decor at thrift store, until a couple years later i have a better job better income, i start replacing my home cheap stuff with pottery barn and restoration hardware products. I have two jobs and some other side jobs for like 14 years, i work weekends, nights, while other ppl are partying on friday night, i work… right now my first house has been paid off, i am working on the second house. Your plan will work, just stick to it, good luck😉enjoy your video, keep up the good work!

Among all the people who make handbag videos, I think Amie is one of the seemingly kindest, most human, warm and inspiring youtubers out there. I'm graduating from University soon and Amie is literally #goals.

Love this, and how humble you ALWAYS are. The hubby and I always have this way of thinking, whenever we buy something more "expensive", people can say whatever they want, but if they don't pay for our bills, it really doesn't matter at all.

Will you ever do a second video on how you invest your income as a person who didn't come from a wealthy background with some knowledge advantage

Girl, don't let the haters get to you!! You've always gone out of your way to explain how you've been able to afford your purchases by saving for them and being responsible with $$. And thanks for doing so!! 💕

I respect that you made this. People not talking about money, hard work and savings can make it seem like everyone on RU-vid is just being handed these things and it adds to the worry and pressure that social media now brings. You definitely shouldn't have to justify yourself but its healthy to illuminate your background for your viewers.

This is the BEST video on RU-vid. Thank you so much for such an honest and inspiring video that most people shy away from, Amie you just took all those potentially awkward / offensive comments and turned them into something so positive! Side note my fiance and I are moving from Birmingham to London next week and we do tend to worry about money from time to time, especially when London is such an expensive place to work and live, I have so much to learn from you! xxx

Oh how exciting! I'm sure you're going to love living in London, it really is one of the best cities in the world :) I was scared of the costs at first too but you quickly find your way and get used to it. There is also a ton to do for free and so much opportunity - it's a very exciting place to be :) xx

Very well played Amie and please read all of the nice comments from everyone. Just because you give us a glimpse into your life and wardrobe etc doesn't mean you owe the Internet any kind of explanation about how you afford your lifestyle. Good for you on all the hard work and future planning - love your channel ❤️

Wow, it's very rare that a RU-vidr tells ppl outright where she gets her money to afford all those stuffs, n even if they do many of them were kind of not telling the entire truth, but u do sound genuine n truthful, kudos to u for being honest to your viewers!!!

don't comments like "her boyfriend buys her the bags for sure" make you so angry? as if women couldn't work for their own money
@ChaseAmie
@ChaseAmie 8 лет назад
It frustrates me, even more so when I see it's mostly women who write these kinds of comments (on my videos at least). That said, that's a limiting way of thinking they're placing on themselves, not me. So I try not to let it bother me too much :)

Chase Amie great way to see it! it really bothers me especially since my fiancé comes from a wealthy family and i'm "only" a law student so whenever i have like a LV bag or anything, they think that he must have bought me it which is not the case. i don't need a man to buy me nice things, if i want it - i work for it
