Came here to say that I always turn put on one of Derek's videos after I watch a scary movie and need to decompress 😂 So totally agree, the perfect "good vibe bomb"!
I just went vegan 1 month ago. Watching your videos influenced me to make that choice. I never thought I would do this. You are inspirational! Thanks for what you do. I also enjoy the interaction you have with Crystal. You two are a lovely couple.
Being a kid at heart is great. My husband is 80 but mentally he never aged past being a young teen.😂🤣😂 he'll never grow up either and that makes life with him a real joy
I live in Iran, and I'm trying to go vegan. Though I must say it is relatively difficult, for we don't have a lot of vegan "products" you guys have in american/europian countries. Stuff like Tofu, Tempe, Seitan, etc, are either impossible to find or extremely rare (at least, I haven't seen any). Luckily, we do have most of the "fresh", "fruity" and "earthy" stuff! But the vegan industry is quite lazy here, and it does not produce a lot of useful vegan things (like all the sauces, ingredients and things you can't grow😅🤦🏻♂️). Thank you for the amazing videos! I'm 22, and I have just started my journey in veganism (still not a real vegan, but getting there!) And I'm doing research, so videos such as this help me a lot! Thank you again :)
There's a tonne of traditional vegan recipes from the Middle East like Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon using cheap ingredients like beans, chickpeas, rice, bulgur wheat, and lots of fresh local veggies. You don't need any 'vegan' products. They're just a stepping stone to going fully vegan for people who miss eating flesh and calf food products.
@@KL89452 Thanks for replying! Yes, even in Iran we a lot of traditional vegan or vegetarian dishes which are quite delicious! I'm trying to master learning them, and I'll be sure to check out the arabic dishes as well!
Daedric, you can veganize your country's cuisine. I understand where you're coming from. I came from Cuba. A plate of rice, bean and pumpkin stew, steamed plantain, and fresh fruit for dessert. There, I have veganized my country's cuisine. You can be the pioneer who started the Iranian vegan revolution.
"Water's nice and cheap..." :D I love it, your videos are so realistic! Sometimes I can't believe I am here sitting and watching a grown up man jumping on a trampolline and blending frozen peas into his smoothie but it is just so much fun!! Thank you for keeping us smiling all the time :))
I have wanted to do this forever but with a large family who hated it didn’t do it. I am 70 now and my husband passed away in February, from diabetes, so in March I decided it was my turn to take care of me. I saw a reply from someone who loved Energy and I hate say I feel like this too. I often tell people that if I didn’t have bad shoulders, neck, and back I do believe that I could run a marathon. The weight is falling off me and I don’t ever feel starved. I also do no salt, oil and sugar. No salt is hard but I believe that if I live a long time it should be healthy. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Man, I love seeing you do your smoothie every time. You always say it like you're worried we'll get bored. (Which I guess is a reasonable thought for someone creating content, and maybe people have told you that they're bored before... lol.) So I guess now I think it makes sense that you say it, but I want to say I love that you keep it consistent. It shows you're not just making stuff up for views, or trying to mix it up to keep people entertained. You're showing what you do. And everyone who's in the know knows post-workout smoothie is the BEST.
I absolutely LOVE what you built for the "kids".... glad you've kept it. This is great fun... but like you show, it is a great workout too!!! Exercise having fun!!!
I love peaches too. I wonder if my son would notice peas in a smoothie. That BLT is fire. I love the backyard & bike ride. Delicious dinner. Have a nice weekend :)
Thank you. How did you squeeze so much into a small comment?! Haha, that is why you Mel Rox! Start with just a few peas in the smoothie, he won't know.
Hi form Poland. You and Crystal ( i dont know if write your name correctly so I`m sorry if i dont) are such nice and positively people. I like yours videos. You two give me always a good day. Thank you.
Already following you for many years Derek. I have been watching your vids on and off but when I do watch your videos it is as enjoyable as always. Keep up the good work amigo. P.S. your tahini based dressing never gets old.
Derek you and your meals are fantastic as always! I'm proud to say that I just celebrated 2 years of being vegan and you and Crystal helped and inspired me oh-so-much from the very start! ❤️ It was and is so nice to see that you're doing well! you guys are my absolute favourite! Stay as you are, much love!
@@heistruth2865 Thanks! I have lost 50 lbs. I am now medication free. Was taking blood pressure, cholesterol, and arthritis meds. I have chronic pain fibromyalgia and can control it naturally with a whole food plant based meal plan. I am active again and have a better quality of life. My wife and kids have joined me. Now my whole house is vegan. It has been life changing in a positive way.
@@DDucksOne wow this is more than inspiring! You are off several medications!!! Ahh!. Last month I was taken off 1 of my blood pressure meds & current medication the dosage has been reduced in half! My goal is to get completely off it! My husband has fibromyalgia & arthritis...any recommendations for him as far as plant based food? We watched "what the health" this past weekend & we are both aiming at eliminating animal food.
What’s really neat is that from watching your videos for 5 years, I can see how your taste has evolved and become refined. It’s nice to watch still because you know what you like and what works for you.
I'm three weeks late, and you've probably already thought of this, but you should gather as many of those blackberries as you can and freeze them! Also, your content, your style and your perspective make me happy. It reminds me that I'm a naturally happy person, and to embrace it. Also eating more plant-based, for sure, but moreover, just eating simple, real food that looks like food. You are a beacon of positive and growth. Thank you.
The toasting up of the bell pepper to enhance its taste is a genius idea. You always let us know ways to level up the meals if you want to. Blessings to you ALWAYS.
Love your videos and positivity! A little tip for garlic; cut the tiniest bit off each end, then crush under the knife and roll the garlic between your palms! The skins come right off.
7:29 I actually really like adding pulses to smoothies and nice cream too! Makes them more satiating plus, adds some extra nutrition and makes for a very creamy end product!
hey dude you inspired me two years ago as i was going through tough times, inner demons and weaknesses, i started working out hard in a calisthenia park and i got strong as fuck which helped with my depression. now, it's time to repeat the process as i fell again. i'm a life-long vegetarian but not vegan, but i am trying to be almost vegan. you have it well figured out i think. thanks for the inspiration and good vibes you a role model
Hey, you should try to make Muhammara one day, it's pretty similar to Hummus but made with roasted/baked red pepper and walnuts (and other ingredients of course), really easy to make and very tasty!
You are super awesome! I love your attitude and personality! You always make me laugh. Thank you for your content! You are always an inspiration (and don't listen to all those negative people out there, they just aren't happy with themselves). You give me inspiration for continuing to be plant based! God bless you and Crystal and your families! 💖
I always feel like I come away with something I use and love regularly after watching your videos, Derek. Today it's that Red Pepper Dressing! I can't wait to try it. Thanks for making it so fun!
I love the SIMPLE way that you cook, it makes this way of eating so much easier, and delicious! Thanks for this video, please continue doing them for us, as it works best for you.
So, I made Derek’s Instant Pot brown rice/lentil stew. OMG. BEST ever. I had to have 2nds, even though my firsts would have been 3 spoonfuls for our Derek. SO good. Thank you for that meal preparation. It actually worked. I doctored it up with 2 teaspoons of dried mushroom powder, and 2 teaspoons of Better Than Bouillon vegetable soup base. I also added a bay leaf to help with excess gas from the French lentils. The addition of marinara sauce, oh my, that was genius. I also added a chopped parsnip, and didn’t add the sweet potato, as the parsnip is an excellent sweet taste. I also pan-cooked chopped leeks with water first, 4 carrots, 4 small peeled red potato. Washed many times the lentils and brown rice several times. Set it for the “bean/chili” setting, and then kept the lid on it an extra 25 minutes. The potatoes and lentils dissolved into a “cream” texture. Oh my, so tasty. Now, how will I warm up the leftovers? Derek would have eaten the entire pot, okay, maybe Crystal would have eaten a bowl, but I don’t do the hard workouts that Derek does. I recommend this dish to everyone. I also sliced the most perfect avocado, and had half of that, and half of a home-grown orange tomato. I am very happy right now (even though tornadoes are happening in my area now).
It’s always an adventure when watching you! All the food looks delicious! Loved watching you in the backyard like a 10 year old kid! That just means your heart is full! Thanks for sharing and congrats on reaching 600K 🥳
Thanks for another great vid! Also, thank you for sharing what’s going on in BC in your stories last week… it’s nice to know that there are others out here in bc shaking their heads at the v. passports… it’s just wrong, and like you said, we could be doing so so so much more yet no one is talking about that… Anyway, you’re a gem. I appreciate you. Thank you.
Thank you for another awe inspiring video. I understand when you get side tracked on your bike rides, as I get the same on my morning runs. The nature around me is incredible! (I'll trip and fall someday with my eyes looking around the hedge rows 🤣🤣🤣)
That insta pot meal & salad looked INCREDIBLE 🤩 I always love watching your videos. You are such a positive person and I aspire to be like you one day (or at least feel how happy you do!) - What helps you with motivation, with exercise and cooking spectacular meals? As that is one thing I really lack, and end up going for the easy processed meals, and end up not exercising. Keep being awesome 💪
I miss living in Vancouver partially because of Okanagan Valley peaches. I'm in Québec right now and although Ontario peaches are delicious, nothing beats living super close to the growers.
I miss the days when I could ride my bike around the neighborhood and fill up on wild berries. I just haven’t seen any growing wild since moving to Texas.
Enjoy your videos and so do my toddlers! I feel you on the feedback on strange ingredients in a smoothie. I just made a chocolate peanut butter smoothie/shake with the following: plant milk, frozen bananas, cacao powder, peanut butter, dates, ground flaxseed, amla powder, spinach, cannelini beans. Probably sounds gross to many, but we enjoy it and it has all the good stuff my growing kids need (healthy fats, lots of calories, iron + vitamin C). And it’s a quick meal for us because I always have most of these ingredients on hand.
Whoa look who I found two amazing You Tubers. So much fun to watch so inspiring thanks for sharing your world with me. I really need a lot of improvement. Maybe now I can become super like you.
Thanks for spreading the word of vegan eating! I feel like people don't understand that this food is actually so dang good and well I'm just starting my vegan journey I was wondering if you could make a video to show us some of the things you buy like all the seeds,, nuts, and spices that would be great
I'm making that BLT sandwich tomorrow. I can already taste it. That bike ride on the trail is the highlight of this video for me. I wish I had that as a feedback loop to watch when I need to take a break from work. Thank you Derek for your kindness and dedication.
3:54 Taking care of that inner kid is so important I really wish more people didn't loose that spirit! As you have said, play is super important and I am sure it will keep you happier and healthier for much longer than an average person, especially combined with your healthy diet and reasonable approach to both food and exercise! . Sending both you and Crystal lots of love! Stay safe and have a great week ahead!
Just got my multi-pressure cooker. Instapot. Looking forward to see you making more recipes with your instapot. Have soo little clue about the possibilities of these things.😊
