Finally one of the most requested videos. Follow me through a typical day of eating and talking about nutrition. Of course not every day is the same so in the end this is only a representation of what I eat on that specific day. Little disclaimer because I saw comments on such videos from other Pros: I‘m not taking any advice from random nutrition experts. Uploading this video only for your interest but of course feedback about the video etc. is welcomed! If you have any more questions drop them in the comments and I‘ll try to answer. Training Video dropping next week. Thanks for your support!

Awesome video, I love your laidback attitude. Is it correct that active individuals should intake about/around 1.2 g/Kg minimum to as much as 2.2 g/Kg of body weight daily? Thank you so much for the detail explanations. As an example, your recovery shake, what would the breakdown in grams respectively for: Protein, Carbs, and Fats? I feel that you will do great at 70.3 Worlds in Saint George, Utah this year in the Fall of 2022. All the best!

Thank you! Yes, I guess that’s the recommended amount for proteins. I just try to have at least 20g per meal. My shake with milk has 70g carbs, 25g pro and 5g fat

Just a tip with the oat milk - it is basically oats soaked in water, so a very expensive way to add more oats to the bowl and water - I would recommend cow, soy or pea milk as they have much higher protein. Oat and any nut milk are very low in protein :) Great video though!!

Fred, one question kind of related to nutrition but more specific regarding race day: Do you have your gels with you and use them one by one or put all the content in a bottle with water and sip on it throughout the ride?
@FredericFunk97
@FredericFunk97 2 года назад
I don’t take gels on the bike during a race. I have my liquid carbs in one or two bottles mixed with water. What I take exactly and how much I‘ll explain when it comes to race day videos

In annual trainingg plan to what point ytou do above threshold work on bike and run? When you shift focus on race spesific and threshold work for half/full -ditance races?
@FredericFunk97
@FredericFunk97 2 года назад
Winter is mainly about aerobic training and VO2max. As closer we get to race season as more threshold and race specific training we do but we still mix it with some VO2max. There is not that one point where we switch it’s more a process

@@sarabt we run on fat and carbs depending on intensity. Based off that we predominantly utilise fat as energy (based off most training is at low intensity) and carbs for the high intensity and for racing 🙂
@richardmiddleton7770
@richardmiddleton7770 2 года назад
Yep that is way too many carbs and sugary carbs at that! I was also waiting for the protein which didn't really come till the little bit of tuna in the evening! As your events are fairly long it would be far more beneficial to train to become a better fat burner. Far more sustainable and healthy. The only unprocessed good food I saw was the banana, nuts, seeds, tomato and I can't remember what else on the pasta was it zucchini? The rest was just highly processed sugary crap! You're young so you're getting away with it for now but that's not a healthy diet.

@@richardmiddleton7770 I am sure you must know better than high level nutrition coaches and pro athletes. The audacity some people have. Imagine undereating by 2000 kcal each day because he can't eat enough amount of "healthy food". I am sure that would be great for his health and performance. Sometimes it's not about doing the "best" but rather chosing the best option given your constraints - even if it's second-best.

Hi Fred how do you know your metabolic rate is 2500? Seems high for your size. I also note you didn’t count in your consumed calories what you took on bike and run. I’d be surprised if you were in a deficit but obviously your body is managing the weight because you are not gaining kilos.

@@jeanlouis731 I just referred to his consumption. In total he consumed 180g on that day. So there is probably no reason to consume protein from "traditional" sources such as meat, legumes or protein shakes since he already got plenty from his "carb sources" like cereals, pasta, bread. If you don't have to consume that many calories you might want to add some of these protein sources. Protein poweders are definitely the cheapest and most convinient one.
