I add cauliflower rice to my oats usually, but the other day I added shredded carrot and cauliflower and 1/2 apple shredded. Topped with more carrot, the other half of my apple diced, a few raisins, walnuts and cinnamon

I would love to see a video about maintenance. That's where things went off the rails for me. Though I also started experiencing weight gain due to perimenopause but still... maintenance is challenging. I get tired of tracking and just want to live my life. That's why I appreciate your videos. You do some of the work for me 😊🙏🏽

I love how you incorporate fitness into way of healthy eating as many give the impression that all is needed is a whole food plant based diet to be healthy while in reality themselves do ie strength training . I also love how you do mention the option of adding healthy fats such as olive oil while warning about the calories rather than instilling fear ie be no oil ever. Your recipes are simple yet delicious and your videos are well thought out. Thank you ❤

Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes eating whole foods plant based diet alone will not help you shape your body and change body composition. A good balance of healthy diet along with weight lifting is the way to go for older adults, for better quality of life, to retain muscle mass and bone density. Would you mind sharing how you think you didn’t meet your goals fully? Losing 9 pounds when you were already lean seems like a great achievement. Were you looking to lose more weight or were there other factors that you feel you didn’t meet?

Hey Love. Yes losing 9 pounds was a huge deal for me, considering I didn't have much weight to lose. I'm definitely happy about that and celebrating. I just didn't end up looking as lean on my stomach as I had hoped for but I knew going into the deficit that wouldn't happen to me easily as genetically I store fat in my mid section and in order to fully get rid of that fat, I will require multiple calorie deficits in/out and lose muscle mass in the process. To be honest that's something I don't care to have anymore. My focus has shifted to be more strong, have more lean muscle mass, move pain free as I get older. So having 6 pack abs and knowing how difficult it is for me to achieve and maintain that look, isn't so appealing anymore. So that's what I was tying to get at. Hopefully that makes sense. 😍

I would love to learn about the maintenance phase. Just curious to know, too, how long were you in this most recent fat loss phase? I am just about to begin a fat loss/calorie deficit phase while continuing to build strength and lean mass

I was in a calorie deficit for 3 months only. I didn’t have a lot to lose + no one should be dieting endlessly. It’s good to take diet breaks & go back to it if needed to lose more weight. It’s awesome to hear that you’re prioritizing strength training during fat loss 🔥

How do you track the calories you burn while working out?

you shouldn't care about how many calories you've burnt through an exercise. Those numbers on the watches and machines are very inaccurate. I never focus on those numbers with myself or my clients. I would encourage you to focus on the calories you're taking in as that's something that's in your control. Calories burnt varies based on Individual Differences such as age, sex, fitness level, metabolic rate and types of exercises you're doing. Never eat back the calories you think you've burnt through an exercise! Hope this helps.

@@MYTYIAALLEYNE You should be in a calorie deficit from a Nutrition point of view (Aka: eating less than your maintenance calories/calorie deficit). It's much easier to eat less than to burn off calories through vigorous workouts. Anything you burn through an exercise is just bonus, and a healthy way to move your body and live. Everyone should be working out, moving body daily regardless of their goals :)
