a few weeks later I have adjusted their diet. now, i focus more on quality forage and they all get much much less grain. I have also switched grains to a lower sugar and starch feed.
Who can dislike this? 😠 I also give my horses a dash of oil for their coat, and sometimes cooked black rice and various herbs. Ooh, and a dash of salt. Most horses lack sodium in pastures. Ordered some probiotics as well. I'm pretty out there haha, but all my horses look much better than when I got them, all of them pretty much were rescued. Good stuff! Look forward to see more vids
This is very interesting. I can’t find any videos that tell exactly how to feed like your video does. I have a 10 month old Belgian. Would you have an idea of how much I should feed him? If you answer, show me by scoops. 🙂
Horses should be fed by weight and by based on their body condition. I would recommend free choice hay all day and grain (to ensure nutrients are being met)
If you're worried about sugar, they make Purina Strategy Health Edge whcih specifcally has less starches, thats what I feed my boy, and its cheaper than Nutrena. I was thinking about switching to Nutrena though too since my boy is HYPP
She is clipped, this helps make sure horses don't overheat when they are worked. It also makes sure when they do sweat they dry quicker in the winter so they don't become to cold.
