Our daughter is 5 weeks old so she won't be aware of Christmas. We still wanted to do something for her first Christmas, so we got her a pair of little handmade leather shoes with little deer on them as her first pair of shoes (that she will hopefully keep forever!).
My second baby is only 10 days old so most of her gifts are things I hand knitted for her, my first daughter (15 months) got alot of books and soft dolls. I think she will be the most excited about q handmade dump truck we found 😌
Can't wait to watch the new video with my wife! Also, you should totally add coffee mugs to your merch store. I'd buy one or two! Just putting that out there.. ;)
We're minimalists and I also do Montessori homeschooling with my children. We really value having beautiful toys because It goes back to Scandinavian design principles and that if it's going to be in my house I don't want to have to hide it I just want it to be beautiful.. to go along the lines of your Play-Doh tools We have gotten our children some different textured wooden rolling pins off of Amazon for around $20 and these wooden cookie stamps as well! They love them and they work great! If you're using homemade playdough though I would recommend coating them in wood polish (We just use IKEA cutting board oil sometimes coconut oil)
We got our 15 months old a toy kitchen (and it's already in our living room, he's playing a lot with it) and some wooden vegetables and kitchen tools he will of course open on Christmas day. We also bought him two little wooden puzzles and a board with a sort of labyrinth with animals
"When people go out of their ways to support me, like watching my videos(...) " your videos are literally one of my highlights and calm time during the week ♡
We get some Ostheimer animals every year to add to our collection. We have a lot of Grimm's and Grapat, Lanka Kade is good for smaller kids. Smallfoot vehicles too. We've also gotten a bow and arrow set for my 7 year old and tractor with accessories for my 3 year old and a wooden baby gym for the baby. A knot kit and a bird feeder kit for stockings :)
Love your channel and content! I’ve been following for awhile & always excited for new videos! Also it’s cool how you stick to your household style when buying kids presents too!
We love kinetic sand!! My 4yo plays with it everyday. It has replaced playdough for us. Never dries out, not bad to clean up either. We also got the Nugget couch, super pumped to get that for the playroom. These look like great gifts, gives me some good ideas for stocking stuffers too. I loved all the wooden gifts you got for Theo and know my boys would love them too, I’ll have to look into those.
I feel really relatable to you in this video! You seem very light lately, like your spirit is in a happy place. I love the little wooden work bench. I've always been a big fan of Hape brand wooden toys for my boys! If you haven't heard of them look them up! A little pricey, but my 16 month old is using things I bought for my almost 5 year old when he was a toddler!
My mil is getting my boy a flipping car tower! I’m excited for that. This is our first Christmas with our first child and I think we are going to do three gifts (representing the three gifts brought by the wise men) and then a stocking. We are doing our best to purchase wooden and fabric toys, thrifting what we can as well.
@@Tach905 we used a calculator too, the bigger the better. And once the beeping cash registers appeared, we started beeping the products over the calculator 😅
Just like you're trying to make your home feel cozy and welcoming I feel that cozy and welcomed feeling from you when I am watching your videos .I hope that make sense in a way .
Wish we could afford that much. Budget is tight this year. We got him a toy for Melissa and Doug and also made him some Montessori cube chairs. Grandparents are getting him some great stuff too.
Children dont need that much at all honey. You are doing amazing, what matters are the memories and not children that dont understand the value of things. WHen i was a child i got one basic toy/book not even because of financial reasons and nowadays at 27 I am much more grateful for the values that my parents passed down to me and my whole childhood i valued and kept every toy I ever got (with bday on the 28.12 i only got one present for bday and xmas too and never cared). Its about how you raise them. Meanwhile, my partner was very spoiled and after a certain age he said he stopped appreciating his things and fancy trips because it was so ordinary for him he wished his parents had focused on certain values instead of toys and fancy trips. ( and he did/does have a very mindful lovely family) Sorry i went on a rant but I've seen so many comments like this on so many xmas videos on youtube lately it makes me said! Plus, Christmas can be made fun in SO MANY WAYS!!!! Lots of love and peace to your family for the new year!
Hi there ! I was wondering what was the name of the font you used for the video titre that appeared at the beginning, it's just too cute ! Thank you so much, I am head over heels with all of your content ! I wish you and your family a very merry holiday time !! ♡♡
These are great gifts! I considered a wooden cash register for our littlest this year as well, but opted for a doll stroller instead. Our 5 (soon to be 6) kids each get one gift from us, plus a stocking full of consumable goodies, and a book. This year: Horse riding boots for the pre-teen, A bracelet making kit for the middle sister, lego sets for both boys, and the doll stroller for the toddler. They each choose one sibling to buy for as well.
Some great ideas. The only thing I'd say is you will go crazy with cat hair attaching to the felt food! We have two ragdolls and have recently changed it all to wooden food (erzi) 🤣
Our baby boy is only 1 so we won't be getting him anything except a book but I can't wait until he gets older so we can personalize his gifts more. These were too cute!
Tip: You can make your own playdoh. Now, I'm from Sweden and we don't use the cup-measuring system and I'm not sure how to convert it. Best thing about this is that it is safe to eat (although not delicious). Last you can colour it with anything of those things you use in baking (not sure of the english name). 4 dl flour 2 dl salt 3 tbsp oil (Think like regular cooking oil) 2 tbsp citric acid 4-5 dl water (I usually boil it)
I can't wait till i can do playdough for my daugther. But she would just eat it now haha. She's 1 though, so i got tons of great age appropriate gifts for her :) but I'm guessing after this video I'll be adding just a couple more things haha
A fun thing to do with old broken crayons is to melt them down and make new ones. My mother did this for us using chocolate molds. It was so fun having animal shaped crayons and she does it now for my kids. Melting them in a can in a water bath on the stove is easiest. Pour it into the mold and set them to the side to harden. Boom, new fun crayons with the ones that get thrown out.
I got my 2 boys (5 and 1 month) second hand toys mostly this year from local sellers on facebook market place or ikea toys and amazon for Montessori learning! My older son has really opened up with his imagination after adding things wooden and simple to his life. I'm so happy...and second hand is the cheapest way or diy! We wanted lovevery for the baby but its WAYYY to expensive for us so I'm doing DIYs that are so much cheaper.
My 17 month old is getting a children’s Dyson vacuum and a tricycle for his big gifts, he absolutely loves vacuuming and obsessed with anything with wheels
Okay! I bought my 16 month old a toy cleaning trolley! It comes with a small vacuum, mop, broom, pans etc. He is so fascinated by the one at his daycare center that I knew he would be obsessed! I feel less alone now! I felt so weird buying it
Awesome Christmas haul. Just an idea, you might want to consider about getting some felt play money to go with the register. They have some cute sets on Amazon .
This made me so excited for Eloise and Theo and at the same time so sad for my own little one as we are not able to afford any gifts this year 😢 but love the idea and hopefully will be able to use one or two next year
I bought the full price workbench for my kid. I can't wait for him to open it but I wish I only paid $45 for it lol I also am going to paint it. I am not a fan of the blue colour.
This is my little girls first Christmas and she will have just turned 9 months old by Christmas morning. I also love wooden toys and slowly starting to get stuff for her. I am really excited for her to open up the Melissa and Doug 100 wooden block piece set. Truthfully I'll probably enjoy it more than her initially but she loves blocks, hitting blocks together to make noise, and stacking blocks and knocking them down. We also bought some of the typical baby toys like the ring tower and shape sorter in wood.
I wish I could have watched this like a month ago!! I never really thought about how many of my son's toys are plastic :/ his birthday isn't far off though so I'm excited to take more care in picking his toys. Stay safe and thank you for all you share❤️
The Nugget company just opened a new factory a couple months ago, so they are slowly working their way toward being able to provide for the demand. So glad you were able to get one!! (: They are going to love it! I don't even have kids, but I can't wait to get my future kids the nugget lol the 5 kids I nanny build forts out of the couch cushions ALL the time, so I kind of want to get them one! For the triplets and 5 year old I nanny, we got them binoculars. They all love and use them every day! (Yes, I gave them their presents early lol) and my husband and I gave the one year old a bookshelf and books because he is so into reading!
I love shopping small business, and local. I also love supporting my favorite RU-vidrs! I purchased some of your merch, Delilah, and used your affiliate links for Organic Basics and Function of Beauty 🎄❤️
This is so fun!! I'm currently pregnant with our first, so next Christmas we'll have a 9 month old!! Should I even bother getting presents for kids that young??
My girls have the wooden register! Target $1 bins tend to have a zippered pouch filled with felt money from $1-$100 and little wooden coins from 1-25 cents. Came with a lot of money! Great for pretend play and for math skills and money management. Had to cut the bills a bit to size but it’s a great value and appealing to the eye!
I love seeing your passion for getting gifts and being intentional about gift giving. It makes me excited for next year when my daughter is old enough to really get excited about the things we get her. It's a joy watching you!
My kids have magnifying glasses and flashlights too, they love to play detectives 😁 You are quite brave to give Theo a wooden ball with hockey sticks 😳 I would give him a soft ball to go with it. Our kids are getting mostly Legos: they madee their own wishlists and Legos are a good thing. From us our daughter will het her first watch (she is almost 7) and our son will get a set of magnetic building blocks (he turns 5 in a month) because he is very fascinated by magnetism.
I’m very excited for my step daughter to get her wooden doll house. She’s been asking for a Barbie dream house for years and they all are so expensive I found in Marshall’s a beautiful wooden cottage with beautiful detail and it’s portable for $30 dollars. She’s going to love it so much. My son I think he’s going to enjoy his ninja bots the most or his dinos he’s so young still he loves anything. ❤️
You are clearly not Canadian if you know nothing of ice hockey! Theo certainly is. LOL. OK, I'm coming to your house for Christmas. You got spectacular things for the children. They are measured and modest and meaningful. There is no excessive consumerism: nothing to take away from the meaning of the holiday because there is so much acquisition it becomes a mockery of the holiday with its devotion to things and the getting of ever more stuff. They will have such fun with the toys that require they use their imaginations to create a game, a thing.
My boy will be 16 months old at Christmas. He will get a doll because he loves to tenderly care about his stuffed toys. He also is a huge fan of construction sites and everything related to that. I got him books about cranes and excavators and the matching wooden toys. My husband organised a huge excavator for his sandpit in our yard. My mum will gift him a wooden playkitchen.
Slime is the worst!! My kids keep getting it from relatives. Maybe the brand matters but we find the liquid from it splatters and it sticks to everything if you aren't careful.
I’ve seen diys where you can take broken crayons and make rainbow crayons. You need silikone baking things. They make good cheap presents for other kids birthdays as well.
I love the gifts you got for the kids. I have got an easel too which is a magnetic board/white board/black board. So my kiddo gets paint and brushes to paint, chalk, magnetic alphabets. Some playdough, fake makeup set as she loves to pretend play. She is same age as Eloise. She also got a sand pit and some toys as she loves to play outside. For the big gift we got a trampoline.
You've inspired to look for wooden toys for my baby. I got him wooden cars, blocks and fridge magnets. He loves them and i feel like im doing my part to be environmentally friendly
I get giddy about Christmas too! I got the hearth and hand farm house dollhouse. I got it at a thrift store for $20!! I also bought wooden furniture. I have been fixing it up all month! I love all of your gift ideas. The tool set is amazing.
Hey, Delilah! I love your glasses in this video! Where did you get them? On one of your videos, you promoted a website that sells glasses to your doorstep. What website was that?
Hello from Saskatoon! I am new to your channel. I am a first time mom of a 22 month old girl, and I've been exploring montessori in my home for a while now but I'm still learning. 😊
A local guy made wooden toys from his workshop offcuts and was giving them away and they were so special and sweet. So I got a plane, a truck and a small ring puzzle for my little cousins ^^
Very cute! Just found your channel and I really enjoyed the way your face lit up and you almost became teary in anticipation of your kids enjoyment opening these gifts 😊
We won't a nugget in the lotto too! I was planning on getting that for my kids big Christmas gift last year and that didn't happen for obvious reasons 🤣 so glad we scored one in the lotto! They also go a Grimm's rainbow and balls to play skiiball on it and some felt for it too.
We have 9 children ages 11 and under. We are really excited to get them a beehive so we can begin raising our own honey as a family and an egg incubator so we can watch our chicken eggs hatch!
I wonder what the stats on wood vs plastic toy production is. Like don’t us a straw to save the ocean but cut down a tree for a toy. Also recycled plastic vs others.
Ooohh i hate gift shopping for the kids! They have enough toys. They are 1½ and 4 months. They don't "get" gifts So i don't do it! We do Activity's for birthdays! They don't take space 😬
Love the emphasis on small businesses! My little city is built on them and we’ve lost a lot of amazing long term family owned businesses this year (Ontario) so for Christmas everyone is getting a custom gift basket from me with items from craft brewers, soap shops, plant stores, artists, etc. Everything is small business! Supporting the businesses challenged me this Christmas and now it’s awesome to have such custom gifts for my family and friends and knowing I’m helping another person do exactly the same thing by buying from them!
