What I learned from 8 years as a YouTuber 

Competing against yourself is the greatest analogy of all times. That is the road of humility. Viewing yourself as competing against others not only adds unnecessary pressure but is also the road to prideful thinking. Thats a trap I can assure you.

We love you... You were one of the few that supported a game that their developers neglected... You stuck with the community, showed mechanics, trends, tricks, and even connected the player base. I stopped playing Elite for many years now, but I still watched your videos and continue following you because for being a decent and humble human being. Thank you Astro for all the years you have kept us interested in your channel and content

Been watching you since my 2016 deployment to Afghanistan. I was playing ED when I was off duty. And youtube whenever I got stuck, which was a lot, without you and Exgieous it would have been impossible to even plaly let alone enjoy ED. Best of luck going forward. I'll miss your musings. Been around in ED since since the launch and enjoyed all the 2017 Elite gold rushes. in 2020 I moved over to SC I think in part due to you building confidence and im now concierge space marshall! So much of this video rang true with me. Not just because I appreciate the knowledge you have gained over years of doing this. But because you described my journey with your channel. I found you originally when I was playing elite dangerous specifically for your tutorial videos. The more I watched, the more I appreciated the effort you put in. Eventually I saw your shop and I bought a couple of t-shirts and stickers. I continued watching, and then after a period of time I joined your Patreon. I've been a proud member since January 2022 and it always makes me smile when I see my name at the end of your video because I know I helped you have the resources to make that. I know how much they helped me in the games I played, and I know how much they have helped others. Specifically Elite and SC. That all being said, I also got into astronomy a couple years ago, and while I'm very much a novice I have a background in photography therefore a strong interest in astrophotography. So the day you created your other channel I immediately followed. I was sad to see it drift off, but I totally got it because I knew the effort you put into D2EA. I have proudly supported you directly for a good while. I wear my D2EA shirts all the time, as Ive bought more since the first order, as well as other items. Even to your point of community engagement on discord, I was there the night that you designed the Thargoid T-shirt with the space background. I actually played a reasonable role in helping you determine that design. It was one of my favorite gaming moments over the past decade. Both because I was playing with people I not only looked up to but respected and enjoyed communicating with, but also because I felt directly involved in your channel. I now wear a t-shirt from my favorite RU-vid channel but I helped design it with my favorite creator. That speaks directly to your comment about engaging with your audience. I know astrophotography isn't for everyone, but I am eagerly looking forward to your new channel and you can rest assured I will be just as involved there as I was here. Are you doing it alone? I mean you are my spaceviking for years now, but if i look at other youtubers they have a compleet team around them. Ps what i find best about your content, you kept it human. If i was strugeling to find the road in elite dangerous, or when you switched finaly to star citizen and gave compleet explanations on how things work in the game was alot of relieve 😂 thx for all those years.

It has been quite a ride Astro. I have really enjoyed your channel and all your content . Always looked forward to Monday mornings and Hello Dave and your Tuesday live streams and all content. To be honest I have been an arm chair CMDR for years in Elite Dangerous still stuck in the tutorials, this change will force me to leave the nest so to speak. I just upload gameplay videos / clips onto my channel as I can't get to grips with editing software ( people keep saying it's easy but it just flies right over my head ) , I did upload one World of Tanks instructional type video with commentary years and years ago but don't have the self confidence to progress further .
