I like "management" as a key word for the commercial pilot experience. As you know, "mastery" is another good one because you really have to demonstrate a deep understanding of the airplane you're flying. Great job Sam!

Absolutely! And of course mastery is a constant pursuit. Management is say is a means to that end :-) 🙌🏻

Hi Sam! How many hours did u have when u started commercial training? And what is the recommended amount? I’m currently at 130 hrs. And IFR certified.

Hey! I started straight out of instrument. I had maybe 170 hours or so. You’re going to be doing time building Up to 250 so might as well make some of those flights training flights. Once a week or so is typically good.

@@NorthwestAeronaut Thank you! I’m planning on doing a few lessons with and instructor early on, just to get a feel for the maneuvers. And then just practice those maneuvers while completing the rest of the requirements before going back with the instructor to prep for checkride.

4:09 why in the world are you wearing a mask a lone while flying...? I can't take this video seriously after seeing that.

I’m so sorry to hear that my appearance is preventing you from getting value from the video. It must be a horrible way to live to have to deal with such a paralyzing affliction. I hope you can recover soon. If you must know, back then there was what we called a “pandemic” which was due to a disease that was spreading easily to many millions of people. So many people wore these masks back then to avoid spreading the disease. Yes I happened to be alone in the very small portion of one clip you saw, but what you didn’t see is I was actually with someone earlier in the flight. What you also didn’t care to consider or ask about was the fact that this is a rental airplane that is shared among many people and it was requested of the owners that everyone wear these masks at all times so my open-mouthed sneezes and coughs didn’t get all over the plane. I hope you have a nice day and recover from your condition soon.

Did you learn you need 1300 more hours to actually be a commercial pilot

If you’re referring to the 1500 hour rule, then 1. It’s actually 1250 because I trained part 61 up to 250, and 2. That’s for your ATP which is completely different than being a commercial pilot. 👍
