It's been 18 months since my previous guide to shooting Bring-A-Trailer photo sets.
Since then, I have shot something like 25 listings, and I've adjusted and fine tuned my process a little bit. So I thought I would do an update on what I think are good techniques for shooting car listings in 2022.
Camera gear and lenses shown (#commissionsearned):
Peak Design Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod: amzn.to/3w8ROkR

I have been shooting for BAT now for about a 11/2 years. I enjoy it immensely because the cars are so awesome and, in so many cases, a true piece of art in themselves. The line, the shapes, the colors, the details! A photographer's dream. These vehicles demand great photography! Thank you for providing so much helpful information in such a pleasant and skillful manner. I will be adding your channel to my short list of inspiring photographer/teachers.

wow, thank you, I appreciate that! I couldn't have put it better, it can be such a treat just to be around these cars and absorb all the details and things you might not ever otherwise see. I can tell you love doing this, so it's fantastic that you get to do something you love 👍

I’ve been a dealership photographer since 2018 and starting to look into shooting higher end stuff, hopefully by this year. These tips are very helpful

Like Hami below, I'm watching your videos. Many for the second time or more. There is a lot to digest for someone starting out. I watched your channel intro again. In it you say that you want to help others avoid some mistakes you made getting to where you were at the beginning of this channel. But, it might be a fun yet informative video to take a journey down that road you took long before all the things you mention in that first video. Either way, thanks for all of the information you have shared. BTW, that last thing you said is something I need to work on...making the technical skills second nature. Knowing my camera. Have a great weekend....

One note to consider: BaT will not accept photos over 10MB, so if you shoot medium JPEG instead of large, you won't need to re-size the photos before submitting. Nice video!

I don’t know what you are charging for pro photos, but I do not even start under $1,500 for a BaT set, and the end result will be less than 100 photos total. What takes the longest is making each and every one of them perfect. Removing dirt, oil stains on the driveway or parking lot, escaped leaves, etc. I need about a week to finish one car, working 3 or so hours a day on those photos.

Wow, thanks for your comment Bernard, my approach is a little different from yours, but it sounds like you're very good at what you do, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video! 👍

What do you charge to capture one car, how many images do you deliver and how long does it take you?
@capturingthemachine
@capturingthemachine 2 года назад
1) Over $500 2) 175-250 images depending on number of seats/doors/trunks/features 3) 1.5 to 2 hours to shoot and 2 hours to organize/edit

@@capturingthemachine This is super helpful. Do you have any tips for photographing the car when it's super hot outside? It's been 98 degrees here.. Thanks.
@capturingthemachine
@capturingthemachine 2 года назад
@@MichaelCTruth If you can choose the time/setting, try to plan so you can be shooting at the very end of the day, in the shade. Your photos will be better and even if the air temp is high, it will make a difference to not be in the direct sun. And as always, dress for the temperature and bring lots of water.
