What I look for when buying a Rebuilt title car 

I honestly didn't expect this video to get so many views, I originally made it for a friend that was looking at buying a salvage vehicle at the time, and I forgot to make the video private! However I'm so happy I could help so many of you! As far as if I would change anything I've said in the video, No! Some have suggested checking tire brand and tread depth, however I personally disagree due to the fact that I've gotten cars that I only needed to replace one or two wheels due to them being damaged in that particular vehicles wreck. Most of the time the spare wheels that I purchase have tires in good condition, causing them to be mismatched. In the short amount of time I've been working on cars these are the best tips I personally have to offer, and I'm sure there's hundreds, if not thousands more! I ended up selling this car for around $10,300 (If memory serves) for those of you that are curious. I'm glad to have bought and sold rebuilt cars and moved on to some other cars such as my Corvette Z06 and my Challenger Hellcat since this little ol V6. Check the transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid. As important as checking the oil.

I rebuilt salvage car for a living You can put it side by side with another car that hasn’t been repaired and you will not notice the difference at all All depends on how good the rebuilt was done

Also what I do is put the car under a pressure test ! Just full blast the a/c and step on the gas, it puts a lot more pressure on the engine while I speed and sometimes those check engine lights pop !

Very helpful tips... I am currently looking for a first car and have realized how much cheaper the rebuilt titles are to the clean ones. I am currently looking at a 2007 Ford Fusion for $3350, only has 127,000 miles on it. From what pictures I can see, looks like it was a front end collision, as the hood is slightly raised compared to the other body panels, and the bumper panel gap is inconsistent. I'll look further into it.

I bought a nice GMC Sierra (Denali) pickup that had minor side damage, passenger door and rear door were replaced l, roof airbags deployed but were replaced. I bought it for half retailed priced, no dash lights.. this is my 2nd rebuilt and and loving it, good way to save thousands

Our insurance company totaled out our 2006 Hyundai Tucson because a woman was texting & wasn't watching & drove into the drivers side, mashing both doors in, they paid up off. I took it into a shop & had it put on a rack & checked for anything that looked damaged & the only thing the mechanic found was it needed sway bar links & some normal maintenance work done. We kept the car because the damage seemed to be dollar related & not twisted. Then 2 weeks later I found 2 doors from the same model year, 3 1/2 months apart in the same color. Since the UV rays are pretty equal time wise, I'm just gonna buy them & mount them in a couple weeks. We were lucky. I was really happy when the insurance adjuster to me that they were sending our green title back & not a replacement orange salvage title. That doesn't happen too often. Either is finding the same model year & same color set of doors with less than 4 months difference in age. Since we have taken really good care of our car, I almost want to take the $5200 they gave us, plus the $5000 that I'll be able to get out of it after the doors are paid for & just sell it once the doors are on & buy a 2013, maybe newer.... Car has over 1,500 miles on it & drives straight as an arrow, works well if I pop it into 4 wheel drive & seems to be just fine. I will however make sure that all the door seams match up....

Check for any possible leak. Specially, a coolent leak. And the most important, use OBD 2 instrument to check if all sensors are ON and if there are any pending codes. Super important. The best way , get the car inspected by an independent mechanic before buying it. Good luck.

If a guy doesn’t let me inspect his car, especially undoing the plastic “clip on clip off” stuff, I don’t want it cause he’s definitely trying to hide something. He should be ok with you removing stuff aslong as it’s not like screws or something.

Isn’t there a difference between rebuilt and salvage title cars?

Look at the Tires because the tire wear especially the front tires show uneven wear mostly outer tread & inner tread which could mean the alignment is off possible from a bad collision and even after the repairs they were unable to bring the alignment into spec ! Stay Away From Those Vehicles!!
