i think, your answer to the 3rd question, the one about ditching riffs, has gotten every guitarist who viewed this out of the creative block they were in. you say it causally but that answer alone solves so many questions. thanks a lot. its inspiring to see guitar gods be so humble when it comes to creativity. truly is
hey kiko, thanks for pinning my comment. made my day. love and respect from pakistan. yes we have a lot of metalheads here. you may be surprised to know that my wife is a huge fan of yours, surprisingly not from megadeth, but from angra.
Ikr that's what I needed to hear! I always think the riffs I come up with are not complicated enough and then I change a lot things in the riff, It becomes something else, loses the original groove it had.
@@midomidomid some of the best bands in the world have a signature style. so many famous maiden songs are on eminor. you strip them down and analyse them and they're similar. the biggest insecurity we as guitarists have of something we wrote previously is that we think we were operating at a lower skill level then and discard that stuff. if cobain had done that, smells like teen spirit would never have been written
Chuck is actually similar to Dave Mustaine in the sense that he had many great musicians join and elevate the sound of the entire band while still keeping their core songwriting in tact. Love both Death and Megadeth!
I respect you even more Kiko as a musician and as a person hearing you are a fan of Pantera/Dime Bag and went to a couple concerts. That is so awesome to hear man. It would be really cool to hear you play one of his songs/solos in remembrance of him.
Recently I discovered an amazing band Oficina G3, which I believe is just one of the many bands in Brazil that combine Christian rock, traditional Brazilian and Heavy metal. And of course there are a bunch of talented guitarists that always come up with new ways of blending things together, like Matheus Asato.
Hey Kiko, I really like your videos and as I saw Pantera in the Thumbnail i had to click on the Video because these are my biggest idols with Megadeth and Death. And here's my question. What are Your thoughts or your opinion about Chuck Schuldiner ? He's is my Biggest Influence in playing guitar with Dimebag Darrell,Dave Mustaine,Gary Holt and Ross the Boss. And yes it would be great to see a video about Brazilian music! Greetings from Germany🇩🇪
funny that you make this video, you just so happen to be one of the people id call my hero, i thought that being left handed and using a right handed guitar would hold me back, and then a few days after realising that i found the video of you practicing tornado of souls, and later, that same day, i searched for google for "Left handed guitarists, and there you were, alongside herman li, and that pretty much showed in an instant that it doesnt matter at all which was a HUGE confidence booster, thanks for doing what you do, keep it up.
I've been listening to all your music exclusively lately. I'm always smiling when I hear Satriani or Vai influences. I've even thought I heard some Gary Hoey vibes at times and I wonder if you listened to him.
This reminds me of a video Mike Portnoy filmed in the old beartracks days. I think they were working on the Metropolis Album and i remember they had a "inspiration Corner". A tiny place with several albums of tool and other bands. So you see....even "Jesus" himself used influence from others. Fun Fact: Audioslave - Cochise sounds almost identical to Pantera "i'm broken"
Noooo!!! I had never realizad those similarities between Pantera and Zepp , though I am a longtime fan os both.. Great video Kiko...! As always, thanks a lot! That was your wife over there, wasn't her? So nice you share some litlle of those family things with us, too..! Your son, a great orchestral director ajajaj Lovely too!
Kiko is not only an incredible guitarist versed in a shitload of styles...he also has his head on straight. I won't profess to know shit about the "ins" and "outs" of Megadeth personal workings...but please allow me an opinion: This is one of the reasons why the recent drama unfolded the way it did. These guys lived the life and have grown to get their shit together musically and otherwise. No sense in fucking that up with a wild card. Kiko (to my ears) is easily the best guitarist since Marty left the band. Different styles but equally talented players. Love the solo material from both players as well. Really enjoying these videos. Although I'm not a metal player...I learn so much from Kiko musically as well as how to carry and express myself with grace and humility. 🤙🤙🤙
I'd really like to hear Brazilian guitarists that influenced you. One of the things I really like about your playing is the Brazilian influence. That's one of the things that totally add to your originality. I've always liked songs with that Spanish feel, like Tommy Bolin/Savanah Woman or Al Di Meola/ Race with the Devil on Spanish Highway
Hi Kiko, I'm a complete beginner at guitar and I don't know anything about music theory but I want to express myself by music. So I wanted to know if there is an easy way to learn music theory. Thanks for your videos ^^
As a guitar player you should listen Power metal (1988) about Pantera Incredible work from everybody . The first with phil . Dave mustaine actually liked the album at the time and thats one of the reason why Diamond Darrell got invited to take the gig before Jeff loomis audition and Marty finally got the job. The funny thing is Darrell was More demonstrative in 80's than after
