Every time I think I need rehab for my watch obsession I can rely on Watch Andrew to make me feel better that others have the bug worse than I do. 😂 you are like Like patient zero.
I got called out recently that as soon as I left my AD after buying my new Cartier Santos, I was discussing with them what the next watch I’m thinking of buying. I got told to take a mental break and just enjoy the watch I literally just bought haha. It’s has gotten bad 😄
Congrats! The two-tone DJ is a killer choice! Just picked up the GS SBGH271 a few weeks ago. I was looking for a rare golden snowflake, but the green dial on this Rikka version was so spectacular in person, I couldn't pass it up. Nothing in the collection captures the light like a heritage GS.
I know what you’re going through. I cleaned house a few years ago and bought myself a polar explorer 2 and while it is my grail watch, very happy with it, I fantasize about what I would get if I sold it and had that budget. Part of the fun I guess!
Some great watches there Andrew, most of them on my radar also, especially the aqua terra . The new 38mm colour dials look great. Definitely wouldn't swap your rolex for any though. 👍
Boy, do I know that feeling. It's the overall, general love of watches, that will (most likely unfortunately) always have us craving the "next best thing." Hence the title of Jody's channel, "Just One More Watch." And i genuinely feel, that the broader your appreciation for different models, and styles.....the more models there are for one to crave. Thus far, adding to one's overall, level of anxiety. But we love it...we're gluttons for punishment.....and wouldn't have it any other way. You'll find your way....you always do :) All the best to you, mate.....cheers!
Definitely keep the Datejust. May I suggest finding a good Rolex AD and just get on a waitlist for the heck of it and forget about it? Let’s say 🧐 a Submariner. If it comes it comes. If it doesn’t, then no big deal. I agree, nothing has the pull of a Rolex. If you’re able to stretch it, a Sub and a Speedy Hesalite should keep the itch at bay for awhile. Cheers!
I bought the santos de Cartier grey a couple of months back, in part, after watching your review of the blue version. Many watches I see in videos and images I often find disappointing when I see and handle the real thing. The Cartier on the other handle gave me butterflies in goldsmiths and I walked out with it on my wrist. That’s my recommendation.
I got the 41mm aqua Terra. It's not as big as it sounds. It's perfect size for me. The lume isn't great. It's bright enough but the minutes hand has the same Lume application as the seconds hand and there is nothing to differentiate the 12 o clock marker from the rest. I'd give the AT a 6/10 on lume. I have to really stare at it to figure out the time after dark
I wouldn’t sell a Rolex unless I grew to hate it or needed the money in a dire emergency. They are timeless and tough and retain their value. They are also incredible, marketing and waitlists aside. They are phenomenally well put together. Your DJ will be a timeless classic 15 years from now. Stay away from Aqua Terras - the bracelets are a joke. I sold mine after 3 months and never looked back. Watch was too thick for a 38mm dial as well.
Good selection, but ultimately you made the right choice for you. Chopping and changing watches all the time can sometimes lead to dissatisfaction. I also think sometimes the watch hobby is about dissatisfaction. We start looking for it in our current collection as an excuse to move on, ultimately ending up in the same situation. But that's just me thinking out a loud.
I think the problem with the 41 TT datejust, is that it offers very little functionality for what it costs. I would have gone for the 126622 grey dial Yachtmaster personally, but of course wear yours with good health :) I bought during the sale in january from the local AD for 4K a seamaster 300 master co-axial, on the brown leather strap for 4k. The "non limited" edition version of the spectre omega and i have to say it's insanely good value for money. Beautiful watch, the "false patina" doesn't strike false or annoying, you also get a see-through case back, and a gmt hour hand adjust function.
Right at the top of ‘the ones that got away’ list is the Omega Aqua-Terra. Think if push came to shove and I could only have 1 watch (how bloody scary would that be?) it would be that one. I like the silver/white dial with the little spots of orange about the place on the bracelet. Looks sporty but can also pass for dress too, great water resistance a movement that is fabulous, c’mon what’s not to like? I would never sell it either… just so you know resale values mean nothing. 👌Ooh la la… as someone once said!
Ahh the pain, the decisions and the joy of the watch collecting game. Should I buy or should I sell and most importantly should I buy something else, hahah! 🤣 Great video, Andrew! I think you made the right decision though. Buy any other watch and you will wish you had a Rolex. I sold my Rolex Submariner after owning it for 20 years and I think about it every day...
I wanted the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean so I went and bought a Casio Duro. That’s an accurate description of myself in this hobby (addiction) that I wish I never got into 😅
Keep the DateJust, it’s an Icon. I tend to go for the icons so would recommend the Santos and the Speedy. Every collection needs a Speedmaster. I just sold my Bremont Solo. Never wore it, the stock strap was too stiff and uncomfortable and I decided to replace it with an IWC big pilot. Similar aesthetic with more heritage. No regrets there. Bremont do terribly with value retention so ensure a hefty discount.
Thanks for the video, I'm definitely subscribing as I feel like I'm attending a WA (Watchaholics Anonymous) meeting. Lol. I am experiencing the same issue. I was recently allocated my 1st Rolex (Batman on Oyster) a grail piece I never thought I'd actually get after about a 5 year search and an Omega SMP 300 on the way. (Which I also love) I'm already planning for the next watch. The Cartier Santos MD/LG was at the top of that list before the AD recommended I be patient as there was a realistic chance of them landing something on my wishlist for me. Man did they ever deliver! I am over the moon with the BLNR and I cherish every memory with it. But I'm already itching for the next watch. Explorer II Polar is still top of mind, along with the Panerai Submersible in 42mm, and recently added the green bezel Sub to the wishlist. What is wrong with me? Lol Best of luck in your watch collecting journey! I'm excited to take the ride with you. Also, never sell your Rolex's. Only add them. 😁
I've just bought my missus a 30mm Aqua Terra and have been thinking 🤔 maybe ??? and you're not helping hahahaha She has the Solo too with the opaline hands, the dial is beautiful. I've said to her "that's it, no more watches" we'll see
Great choices, Andrew. One to consider is the Omega Constellation Globemaster Annual calendar - green dial with the fluted (coin edge) bezel. It is definitely a under the radar timepiece. It’s a beautiful and stunning watch. What do you think?
I keep looking at the aqua terra 2022 Winter Olympics. The blue hands remind me a santos while the dial reminds me of a snowflake. Just can’t quite pull the trigger on it though.
Great choices. I have the new speedy sapphire sandwich, and the pelagos LHD. Just bought the Santos in the new blue PVD finish. The other one last just landed with me and I think is missing is the grand seiko slga009 white birch spring drive. Sold my two tone globemaster for that
I’ve just sold my 2022 Omega Sapphire Sandwich. Great watch. Just didn’t fit right on the wrist. Loved the bracelet and how it looked. Just wouldn’t fit right.
You’re Rolex is perfect 👍🏻 end of story. The pelogos as an absolute tool watch yes to compliment your Rolex which is dressy although a strong sports watch. Aqua terra is beautiful 🤩 I love it. The bremont for me NO . Grand seiko NO , great video mate. Iwc spitfire is my latest dream watch
@@watchandrew iwc spitfire is in the same looks division as any field watch, Hamilton etc , but I’m into plain basic watches. I’m also into dress watches dive watches, do it all watches like date justs and aqua terras , I even like g shocks. I guess I’ve got it bad it won’t go away, I’m over 60 now and I’ve always loved watches, no idea why . But you’re Rolex is a keeper, I think when you sell that , and I’m sure you will sell it lol I think 🤔 you might regret it . As you say it’s all part of the hobby, take care son
That’s some list fella. I think you’ve made the right choice. You’ve bought your Rolex at retail (near enough). At this moment in time all the other watches are attainable and when it comes to buying another watch in a year or two, let’s face it, you probably will, the jump to buy that Omega, GS or Bremont won’t be as steep as you’ve already spent that huge chunk of cash on the Rolls and the Barnet.
An Aquaterra is "the perfect watch" to me. Kind of takes the fun out of it. It would be perfect to me as a one-watch collection. Is there such a thing as too versatile? Still beautiful. I say the desire for all the others is just a symptom of the passion and it means your interest will survive at least as long as the next Watches and Wonders and you can start all over again.
You bought the right watch, they are all nice pieces but are left massively in the shade by a beautiful two tone DJ41. I wouldn’t swap any two of those for the DJ, it’s a mid tier Rolex and literally crushes the rest.
Love my Bremont but like you I’m a sucker for the word ”Rolex” on the dial. Stupid really as I am also really keen on supporting British manufacturing. I do lust after a white dialled watch and that could well be a Bremont further down the line.
Next week - why I sold my Rolex Datejust and bought this that and t’other. Then, how I miss the Datejust and sold the others to buy it back. And so on.
@@watchandrew no bud ,, it’s a little dressy for me, there are aspects of the watch I like but the killer is the butterfly clasp , it’s a no go for me.. I prefer more sporty tool watches
What is it with us weirdo's. We lust after a watch , then when we get it . We start all over again . Don't get the whole moonwatch thing but that's me . Santos is stunning . Have to agree I'm a unapologetic Rolex fanboy .
@@watchandrew when I tell my good lady that once I get the next watch I'm done. She just looks at me and says ofcourse you are darling . We are all beyond help
I purchased the latest speedy new movement sapphire sandwich narrower strap few months back after wanting one for many many years. Finally got the money together and got my dream watch. Now having owned it for a short period I’ve worn it out twice and now it’s back in its box locked away. I have no idea why but I’m just no longer a fan of it. I keep hoping something will click and I’ll love it but I just don’t 🤔🙁.
@@watchandrew I think your right mate it’s not looking like I’ll keep it for very long. My other dream watch was the 39mm explorer 1. 214270 but I just can’t justify paying 3k plus over the retail price ☹️ or maybe a look at the aqua terra white dial golf edition I like the look of 👍🏼 all depends on what I get for the speedy. Enjoy your channel keep it up buddy
@@watchandrew but also those new AT 34mm ones are really nice ladies pieces. probably the nicest around. Bugt yeah I like the new 38s. Would love that red one -also the new bracelets are cool.
For watch collectors, it's really difficult to buy just one watch and close up shop. Personally I love having lots of options each day so I can wear my mood on my wrist. High end, low end or right in the middle, collectors need to collect. I feel like a single Rolex is more for someone who is marking a life accomplishment and appreciates a quality piece, but doesn't have the collectors bug. Andrew, your Rolex, sooner or later, is going bye-bye. 😉
Andrew, your priorities are all wrong.... paying for an hair transplant when you need more watches? ; ) I enjoy your content, good luck with the follicles.
@@watchandrew Think the Q you should ask yourself is; Are you wanting the keeper for life or the experience & time with different watches ? A tough dilemma
Too bad you can't wear such a flashy watch without keeping your head on a swivel. Especially since you have gone on youtube showing off the watch. Good luck wearing in public.
Okej so you need Rolex and hair transplant? Dude you need to get yourself together and build trust & confidence back buy a watch when is a smidge of your net worth 👌
