What I Spend in a Week Living Alone in South Korea (seoul busan cost of living 2022) 💸 

Have been a saver my entire life. My practice is “to pay yourself first”. So I equate saving as a fixed expense. I have 3 different saving categories 1. Retirement (IRAs, 403(b), etc.) 2. Emergency Fund 3. Travel. I’ve paid into these accounts since I graduated from college and increased the amounts periodically. Once one is saving on a consist basis, then one budgets with the monies that remain. Pay yourself first. Just my two cents.

I love this style of video! I would definitely be interested in seeing you do future variations where you challenge yourself (no taxis, cooking at home, etc.) Also, wishing you a speedy recovery with your finger! ❤️‍🩹

It will be interesting to see a follow up video where you compare this amount to how much you spend during a summer week where you are mostly at home. Seeing the same kind of videos in the winter would be cool, too. Money you can make more of; time you can't get more of, so occasional taxis for you make sense.

Omg, here in Canada, my monthly internet bill is $144, and my cell is $78. We are getting so ripped off, lol

YNAB is a great budgeting app and they have great tutorial videos that have a funny girl as the “host.” That is what my husband and I use! There is also the envelope method. Happy 3 years in Korea! We got to Korea around the same time but just left in May ❤️

It's always good to hold yourself accountable, sadly I still struggle with wasteful spending myself but I'm working on getting better and holding myself accountable. One thing I would recommend is separateing the business expenses from the other financial expenditures. That way you can see how much of a difference between the two totals, that way you can compare the difference 🤔 in how much you are actually spending on the other things that may not be a necessity. It's definitely not easy sometimes, I definitely like these kinda of videos 👩🏻 it is very helpful to know everybody struggles with things like this.

finished the video and someone who is trying to find a part time job since moving so i can save up for topik courses and other things while here in korea~ most of my spending is like back in the states, mainly necessities (food, bills (cell phone, school stuff/tuition), etc.) and opting for the cheaper things at like daiso and what not. i will say my issue here is coffee. mainly because i’ve been so used to not paying for coffee since i worked in a a coffee shop for years and got free coffee or i’d buy a couple cold brew bottles to last for a couple of weeks and make my iced coffee at home. however, with mega coffee, coffee bean, and other coffee shops so close in the area and so tempting ㅠㅠ but i did go to home plus for cold brew bottles to store in the fridge and make it while at my dorm. ^^

2 weeks into studying abroad and I've already spent $500+ HOWEVER a lot of it was daiso essentials and some groceries so I feel pretty justified lol.

Are there indoor pools in apartment complexes and or condos in Korea?

Inflation has been really getting me lately! How has it been over in Korea (haven't been there in years)? My monthly grocery costs are now double what they were a couple years ago.

Life in Australia is so much more expensive! Some comparisons of similar things here in AUD - A 10-15 minute taxi or Uber trip is around $25-35, a coffee is $4.50-6, tank of fuel is around $80, and a subway sandwich is around $15. I live in Canberra, and weekly rent here for a small 1-2 bedroom apartment starts at $450, monthly internet bill $80, and mobile phone bill (for just the service, excluding the phone) is $65.

I would love for Stephan Graham to watch/react this and give you tips! He’s changed my outlook on saving/investing!

1st video for me here. My advice to you, just don't be taxi girl so much. Coffee is ok, but 2nd coffee was a little pricey, once n a while ok. You know, for special. You had a lot of expenses that were extra, couldn't help that, otherwise if you can afford it, go 4 it! Enjoyed it!🇺🇸

I know the taxis are expensive compared to the public transport, but it's 100x better than the uber/lyft prices in the majority of the US and still cheaper than driving considering gas prices and car maintenance, so I don't think it's anything to beat yourself up about too much! I'm also trying to budget and was REALLY getting it at one point, like consistently having 4 digits in my savings account but employment has been so inconsistent for me since being laid off in the pandemic, it's really hard to stay on top of anything and not be in the minus when it's a different income every week. But thankfully everything should fall into place now that I'll be returning to full time work the end of this month and I'm dying to get back on track!

Love this vlog, thanks for sharing your week budget. I pay myself first, first hour of each day goes to my shopping budget, last hour of each day goes to my travel fund. I follow Erika Kullberg and she has budget and saving tips that I've incorporated in my life.

I started to care more about my money the closer to thirty I got. lolol My budgeting tip is to write everything down. I have a budgeting planner, like a weekly one that has monthly calendars in it, but then spots to write down what you are doing each week. I write out my monthly expenses, and then in the notes sections I write down what I can expect to come out of what pay check. I have multiple revenue streams as a freelancer, so being able to write down when I have money coming in and when I have money coming out is super important to my budgeting strategy. Keeping things digital is just asking me to forget about them, so I have to pen and paper it.

In one year I will be working as a teacher in South Korea so videos like this about the cost of living are very important. I'm scared that I will leave and not really understand what won't value is. Tldr: I hope you post more things like this! It is helpful for those who plan to move there!

You work so much, and you are such am amazing friend! I have an overall budget, but I need to be more strict with my spending. I'm trying to save money to travel, go back to school for my PhD, and eventually buy a house. My friend and her boyfriend recently bought a house and I went to visit yesterday, and it made me realized how much I want my own house. Also, I think you are already doing a great job, because the more you track your spending, the more aware you are of your money. I have a note in my phone we're I have all my monthly bills, which forces me to always have that money reserved. But, I need to be better at budgeting my extra money.
