don't forget about joke characters! we got pichu back and piranha plant. and with the stage hazard toggle you can have a 2-platform neutral i think, and since almost all stages are coming back, you get yoshis island. elite battle keeps pros with the pros, and people with similar rulesets will be grouped.
@@Cream12345Ice It doesn't matter how they play. Pichu's a joke character because he hurts himself while fighting and Piranha plant because it's a freaking plant which is more important than Waluigi or Isaac (for Nintendo at least)
ZoYatic _ Just because a character has a weakness doesn't make them a joke character. That's like saying Ganondorf is a joke character because he is slow or Sheik is because she doesn't have much kill power.
Damn Sakurai read your wish list. Wanted new universal mechanic. They brought back directional air dodge, and allowed you to perform anything out of dash. Wanted snakes moves to come back and didn't ask for the man himself. You got the man himself. Wanted to see Nintendo bring in another character while showing footage of King K. Rool. He's in. Wanted Ice Climbers? They're in. Wanted a joke character? Got Pichu, Piranha Plant and Joker(get it?) Wanted double platform stage? Got Kalos Pokemon League with no hazards. Wanted Yoshi's Island. Got it. Wanted stages without transitions, got no hazards option. Wanted better online system. Kind of sorta got it. It should work in theory, but it doesn't.

So glad someone else noticed, the whole video was phenomenally put together, to the point where I actually had to go back and think about some of the edits they had to do to get that to work. I can't imagine how long it took, but it's clearly the reason why it took so long for this video. Definitely worth it, though.
247MrNiceguy yeah his editing was really really nice the only thing I'd disagree with was the ceiling(red) death animation I really like that but yeah his editing was really good especially with adding characters on screen that aren't even in the game good work
Haha, I love how the guys with the Wiimote and Wii U Gamepad were the high-skill ones, and the ones with the GC-pads were the low skill ones. Nice touch.
1:55-2:16... Oh, my goodness! Finally, a video where somebody talks about those issues! I have been waiting for that ever since a new "Smash" game was announced for the Switch! Not only do I want the random untechable spin animation (100% damage or more) to be fixed, but the top KOs changed as well. For the upper blast line, a toggle or frequency on Star KOs/Screen KOs would make more sense, where they're either random (33.3% for each), they occur every time (75.0% for Star KOs, 25.0% for Screen KOs), or they never occur at all (100.0% Blast KOs). That way, people can enjoy the randomness, enjoy Star KOs/Screen KOs in matches whenever they want, and play in competitive matches without having to put up with the upper blast line's RNG.
William5000000 Also they need to get rid of random trip on moves (just like random untechable spin). Moves should either a) always trip (late hitbox on wario dash attack) always trip but it’s KB/% based (IE, always trips below a certain KB threshold, with all the weight, % and rage calcs) or should never trip, don’t give me this roulette game of if I’m gonna get down tilt to F smash true combo’d
William5000000 while that is true, I think the problem with making star kos and screen kos happen every time is its a bit unfair to characters like Jiggs or cloud (especially cloud) since cloud can charge extra limit. Removing star and screen kos altogether? That would work. The problem is I like them, they are satisfying. What's wrong with a little chance? Game and watch ' s 9 is more op if you think about it.
We can all agree this game could use more movement in neutral.Right now shield is too good but it is not easy to nerf it because it is so hard to avoid attacks and punish
For Kirby's inhale, they could add the mechanic it has in his most recent games, where holding inhale makes a bigger versión for an instant, but then Kirby gets tired for a second.

For the point about Snake they can easily give the remote bombs from BOTW to Champion Link. He can lay down the bombs and detonate them at any time he wants
idk. There's a lot of things and conventions from Breath of the Wild that they can use for Link. For example there's the Remote bombs like I said, then there's the other runes such as Stasis, Magnesis, and then Revali's Gale can be a good recovery while Daruk's protection can be a good counter of sorts. Magnesis would be a pretty good grab move to use since Link doesn't have a hook shot in BOTW. I just think that there's a bunch of things they can do with Link to make him an amazing character, especially since their using BOTW Link specifically.
I want the following - Every character in the series playable - Inklings, King K Rool, Simon Belmont, Ridley, and Incineroar to be playable - An adventure mode - A Stage Morph Option - Final Smash Meter Let's hope all these come true!
Aloisio B.N. It’s called the DACUS, or dash attack cancelled up-smash. It was done by dash attacking and quickly canceling that with an up-smash. This allowed you to up-smash while carrying the momentum of a dash attack. Some notable examples were Snake and Falco, like you mentioned. Sheik could get a guaranteed (I think it’s guaranteed at least) aerial grab release into a DACUS. There’s also something called a BDACUS, but I don’t know the details on it. There’s a wiki page on all of this that I recommend you look at if you’re interested.
A character that I want is Toon Ganondorf. He wouldn’t be a clone, but instead a heavy character that utilizes his swords and some magic into his move set. Pretty much I want them to do this and keep the old ganondorf rather than completely rework the old Ganondorf.
I agree with that, because even though ganondorf does deserve his own moveset the current one we have now is still pretty fun to play, in my opinion. But also i want the hyrule warriors ganondorf as a skin
They should add Black Shadow from F-Zero and give him Ganon's current move set. This way Ganon can finally get a new move set that makes sense for him and we get another F-Zero rep.
Wow, you got basically every major thing you asked for. A new universal mechanic in parrying, snake, ice climbers, a joke character in pirranha plant, skill based matchmaking, more neutral stages, a list of games to join, and a giant, honestly pretty well balanced roster
I agree with you 100% on movement option changes. We don't need wavedashing, but some mechanic that enhances movement for every character would be nice.
As a non tournament player, I actually really like the random top animation. I can see how it could be a pain and would prefer if you could turn it off in tournaments but amongst friends it was always awesome seeing their character blast off like team rocket or hitting the screen glass.

I AM SO HAPPY YOU MENTIONED KIRBY'S INHALE. Like it's literally THE Kirby entity. It's like having Ditto, without Transform. I understand that stealing an enemies power could seriously change the tide of the battle, but that's what Kirby is all about in the games, and even in the show.
That last idea is a fantastic one. Having a rank and being matched accordingly is a great way for people who aren't good to still have fun online, and for people wanting to progress in their abilities to watch that progression happen over time.
Holy shit I loved the editing here! But anyway I agree with pretty much everything! Here's what I'd like myself tho: - Rayman playable (He's just so perfect for Smash!) - More obscure series recognization (Mario Party has 1 random song & Rhythm Heaven 2 while Game & Watch Gallery doesn't have any themes on Flat Zone!! I'd suggest more remixes of themes like that instead of Jungle Hijinks remixes or Mute City remixes, we already have enough of those! Also, more unique stages! An Mario Party stage would be lit!!) - Alternate moveset! That would be an easier way to do clones or to represent more games! (Wario Land moveset for Wario!!) - An more elaborate Story Mode with every character having a little story and fixed opponents/events - Another side modes like Smash Tour, loved those! - More stage builder options! Also, choosing which existing stage skin it would be based on would be cool! (Use the Yoshi skin and it'll look like the Yoshi's Island stage and even have the rotating platform!) Anyway here are my ideas!! ^^

Ascenndant maybe not even a feint but a delay type thing where like capt falc's Falcon punch and reverse Falcon punch have different hitbox timings. I've hit my friends with normal Falcon punch cuz my friend got used to perfect sheilding when I fish for reverse punch
I want more trap type characters. Snake, King K. Rool, Bomberman, etc. That archetype is very fun to play, and play against. I also want them to fix Pacman if they have plans for him. He feels very rushed and underpowered, and while he does have tricks, he has no safe option other than spacing his fruits and down special. All his other moves feel like they have been heavily nerfed in development and then forgotten about after the other tests to other characters were finished. I always saw it odd that he cannot pick up his fruit after tossing it by hand.
There' have been MANY more than just 1 joke character added to the roster! N64 = Jigglypuff Melee = Pichu / Mr. Game & Watch Brawl = R.O.B. / Wario Sm4sh = Duck Hunt / Wii Fit Trainer Ultimate = Isabelle
Personally, I don't care that the video is "late" because the ideas are actually pretty good. I've been waiting since the release of the direct to see a video that had some more insightful speculation but the earlier ones always feel more rushed so kudos to you for not doing that. ^-^
I love that you added Goku. With the popularity of Dragon Ball FighterZ bringing him to the forefront of the fighting game spotlight, and for just being an incredibly iconic character overall, I feel he would not only sell units but systems.
These are the specials I want for inkling; Neutral B - Splattershot: a gun that does small damage, but inks the ground. Side B - Roller: Pull out a roller that inks the ground, and can meteor if used in the air. Up B - Inkjet: Strap on an inkjet and fly high up to the ledge! Down B - Squid (I don’t have a good name for this yet): turn into a squid and you can hide in the ink!
I care more about custom Break the Targets and such but custom event matches could be cool though I wonder how detailed the creation tools can be. At least, placing platforms whereever and carving out a map to run around does the job for the former. The best challenges in Events need really non-standard rule sets. They aren't just beat up a bunch of guys with the same number of stocks.

Just watched this vid, and it's great to hear you say you want snake's moves, or another trap (shows King k rool) then say you want Ice climbers. Knowing what we got vs what we wanted just makes me so excited all over again XDD
I think adding an "Alpha mode" to stages which essentially keeps their layout the same but removes any gimmicks would improve the smash experience so much. Just being able to play something like Midgar or Bridge of Eldin with no outside elements but at the same time not have it just be Final Destination would be really cool
The characters I'm hoping appear in Smash 5 the most are, in no particular order: Wolf I never understood his removal in Smash 4. It would be a crime to simply leave a perfectly good Starfox representative in the dust. Ice Climbers I used to hate them, but now that chain grabbing has been removed and likely won't be returning, their concept is much more appealing to me. Plus, there's no reason to exclude them from Smash 5 since the Switch's power is vastly greater than the 3DS and wouldn't have any issue handling Ice Climbers. Another Pokemon I would prefer Farfetch'd, but I realize how stupid that sounds to 99% of people, so just about any Pokemon that would fit Smash would be great for me. K. Rool Just do it, Sakurai. We all want him. Ridley Size is an invalid argument because, just like Bowser, he has had many different sizes in his respective series, even being almost the same size as Samus at one point. Rayman Nintendo and Ubisoft have always been in very good standing, so I feel like Rayman is a likely candidate. A Rabbid Many people would berate me for this, but I think that they would be perfect as a joke character, not to mention Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle did quite well, so the likelihood of this inclusion is very possible. Marx I would've never thought this one would be possible, but now that he's made his first playable appearance in Star Allies, I think he now has a very real chance of making it in. There are tons of other characters I want, but those are the biggest ones. What characters do you want to see?

So I’m watching this around mid-2022 again and I’m listing off what came into the game or not. - Inkling did bring in a new mechanic, Shield + Special. For Inkling, she can refill her tank. That’s nothing big, but there is perfect shield though, and they brought back directional air dodge. - 2D to 3D, lol. - Foxtroting is easier in this game I suppose. - Not sure about random untechable spinning animation, pretty sure that’s gone, but random ceiling death animation is still here unfortunately. - Snake returned :) - King K. Rool is in Ultimate, not in replacement of Snake of course. - Ice Climbers is back. - No remarkable buff for Kirby inhale I think. - The joke character is Piranha Plant, not Tingle. - There are a ton of new characters, and they invented a new term for clones. - Small Battlefield is the double platform neutral stage, and we have new one platform neutral stages, No Hazard Smashville and Hollow Bastion comes to mind. - Again, No Hazards was added. - Nope, no Stage Background toggle. - Online is worse lol. - Battle Arenas are added.
I'd like to see an adventure mode similar to Melee's. Also, there should be a tag-team mode where you could switch between 2 characters on the fly during a fight. It would add a lot to the experience. It would be cool if they made everyone's custom moves as diverse as Palutena's. Luigi could have an entire custom moveset based on his Poltergust, Peach could have a moveset based on her emotions from Super Princess Peach.
Dzzy123 Maybe they could take relaxalax’s idea and revamp veterans like ganon or make new versions like botw link, but keep their old moveset as separate characters
I think that there should be a parry mechanic in the game. Something like Street fighter 3 where someone who is skilled can block string of enemies attacks. The risk would be that the input is very precise and easy to mess up.
Cpont63 That's not really what I mean by parrying. I'm not talking about two attacks hitting at the same time, I'm talking about being rewarded for a perfectly timed block be being able to act immediately out of it. You can't do that for with the current games perfect shield mechanical as there you still have you normal shield drop animation even if you perfect shield an attack. This basically means after perfect shielding you couldn't perform a second perfect shield if the attack has a quick enough second hit nor could you punish if the attack is safe enough.
Marche800 Two things, firstly, you only have to play a shield drop animation if you drop shield, which still leaves the opportunity to shield grab, or to jump cancel up-smash Secondly, the shield drop animation is only 7 frames, and you’re trying to tell us that that’s too slow to ever get a viable punish out of?
yoshifan2334 that's 7 frames you wouldn't have been able to punish otherwise plus it depends how long sheild hit stun lasts. Even if you block you have a bunch of frames become you can even start to drop your shield. Plus the thing with a parry mechanic is that it would slightly stall the enemies attack string giving you a better chance to block most of their attacks, instead of say blocking one attack and then holding shield for the rest of the attack string while they continue to apply pressure.
Some neat ideas I haven't heard. I like most of them too. For the Kirby one, I thought the same thing, but I always thought it would be neat to make it like his inhale in return to dreamland where after a few seconds of inhaling, maybe by rolling the thumbstick around in circles, he would start the huge vacuum inhale and be able to eat multiple items. Obvi it shouldn't be able to inhale multiple players since it would mean that he could lock someone in his mouth without swallowing, but the concept would solve range

I mean, Richter :p But in seriousness, thanks to Hazard Toggle they included a neutral 2 plat stage in Pokemon Stadium (among a few others actually). And i can see how certain backgrounds are too distracting. I almost thought the new Final Destination background was crazily unplayable but i got used to it. I also like that Kirby inhale idea with better range but less exhale damage.
Y' know, I kinda agree with most of your points. If there was an option to disable backgrounds, it could be as easy as just replacing them with stationary ones, instead of having the blinding lights that are practically stage hazards to our EYES. Another obvious one would be to have an option to turn off stage hazards. Simple, but it would really make competitive play so much more varied than it is now.
