What I WISH I Knew About Greenville, SC Before Relocating 

I visited Greenville for the second time early this year from NYC. I stay in a beautiful AirBnB in the Monaghan Mill area for a month. I love it. Everyone was so sweet, I love Publix. The customer service is so great. I visited every town from Simpsonville to Travelers Rest (my fav). Yes, there are churches for days. We bought our dog and met so many people in the dog park. It rocks in Greenville.

SC and especially Greenville the roads are the worst I have seen in the Southeast except for parts of TN. You will need a front end alignment, tire repair, and best to drive with off road tires for durability. The allocation of money by Governors over time for SC roads prompts the question, Why were the roads not maintained during the last two Governors and SC congress?

Greenville is full and we don't want anymore people here especially Northerners who being their authority they had in their home. We don't want to live by Northern likes. You moved here remember that respectfully. That also goes with privileged driving which I see alot of as well. Past that its a great place

Another good video Aubree! I hear you on that fit In question, people have to visit for a week or two and find out for themselves. Greenville has something for everybody, and if you open up you will fit in well because we are talkers here and like you said very friendly.

People are relocating to the Upstates because, where they're moving from is too expensive. Give it 10 years and the Upstates will be the same...but, the wages won't move an inch. The best thing about Greenville, is that you can relocate here and become a small business owner without the red tape.

It's funny how different our experiences have been..I moved from NY to the upstate near Greenville..and I absolutely had a completely different experience..I found the locals hateful, lazy and uneducated..the roads are horrible. Poverty everywhere, the school system is rated 46 in the nation.. serious drug problems...the jobs pay very little compared to other states..dating is a nightmare..I can't wait to move back north..I have been here 21 years.. so i know a thing or 2 about the south..the Bible belt is not so Christian..the weather is either very rainy or very hot..

My surprise after moving to SC was wen I went to register/retag my cars. I had 4 cars. SC has a S250 additional fee for bringing a title from another state. Plus SC has also passed an optional tax of $200 or so administered by local governments to catch newcomers up on taxes they haven't paid.

Nightlife goes on until 2 every night in Greenville, especially downtown, not everything closes at 8 or 9, a lot of food, bars, clubs, theaters, close at late hours.. native of Greenville born and raised from the days of 2 lane roads, to the traffic I’m now stuck in.

You missed 1 major thing... Due to all of the construction in the area, the area is beginning to be destroyed by flooding whenever it rains.

We have family in the Anderson area so we visit frequently, I'm in Tampa so it's nice to see and hear more about the area. You do a good job with your videos and dealing with all the people in the comments. For the people complaining about growth and home prices...that's happening literally everywhere, in all states, especially the South.

Interesting video, thanks for sharing. I've found all of the downtown bars stay open till midnight and 2am on weekends, so no shortage of nightlife. Also, the old law not allowing alcohol to be purchased on Sundays used to be that way in many places across the US, so it's really not that strange. So many states have different regulations around alcohol purchases. We travel a lot and it's always a little different in every state. We love the diversity and inclusion we've seen in Greenville, the Swamp Rabbit Bike Trail, the live music scene and we especially love the tree lined downtown! We are in the process of building there, near TR, which is an adorable little town too!

No matter what color you are....money is always green :)

Everyone complains after they move here. 30 years ago we didnt have housing problems, ridiculous taxes, over priced farmland and terrible infrastructure. I purposely moved away from here to get away from the now, overpopulated city. - glad to be gone! P.S. in 45 years, they've made no improvement to the roads. Don't fool yourself into thinking that will get fixed.

Please stop moving here.

So what area is best? Travelers rest/ Greer /. Im headed down to check the areas I’d love some help

Walkability outside of Downtown locations is pretty laughable. I love the area, but sidewalks are non-existant. Or if they *do* exist, folks driving Golf carts take up the whole space...

Have a sister-in-law that owns a house with 13 acres north of Hwy. 11 & east of Hwy. 25 (north of Traveler's Rest area). Visited area several times during the past year and have been analyzing local residential pricing over the past 2 years. Seems to me, everything for sale is now over-priced and in a bubble, both raw land and houses. Anyone buying now is either desperate or foolish. Doubtful, but perhaps it's just my educated guess.

Very conservative here, you do see Trump flags and confederate flags flying mostly in Greenville county. Pay is horrible and they think everyone wanted to work for BMW…revitalized/gentrified downtown Greenville which drove up housing costs…it is hot and humid with flies and mosquitoes…it is not this great melting pot, many business are segregated and as an African American, you constantly wonder if you are welcome to do business in many places…and yes I am a native!

Well no matter where you live it is something F#ckup about the state example rolling Blacks in California where you power is off for hours

It's not ok to ask where people go to church. It's rude and intrusive and people judge you based on your answer. Just because you don't believe that happens doesn't make it true. How about people don't ask and move on instead of you offering the sage advice of just know it will happen and move on.
