What if 4J Studios made Java Edition? (Legacy4J)

adding mini games is a must, when i was young playing mini games with my cousins and brother were very fond memories

It’s like an alternate universe where 4j kept making the console versions.

the guys behind legacy4j also have a modpack that makes the game EVEN MORE like legacy console called re-console. i would suggest checking it out!

If Legacy 4J was as optimised as Console Edition was then "Bedrock if it was good" would be the perfect description for it!

This mod is actually very accurate. The graphics are accurate as well, with the fog and the gamma being to the point. Very cool.

Me and my little brother when the this new tutorial world came out, We made sure to try and find every mob statue. Years later I think we were missing like 2 but this mod will let us explore again on our pcs, thanks for showcasing this! The nostalgia is crazy

this makes minecraft on the steam deck feel like 4j actually made an edition for the steam deck

If you download specifically the "Re-Console" modpack (which includes Legacy4J as a mod among many other things), it'll include all the older tutorial worlds as well - plus you can change the worldgen back to the "Console Beta" style for normal world generation, which is a feature I absolutely love.

This mod really just puts a huge smile on my face lol I can't wait to see the skin menu to be added, its hard to explain but that was such a cool feature that I find really nostalgic lol 🤷

Put the gamma at the max for rhe real feeling

In this version, if you go to the big ice lake you'll find the old tutorial world flooded under the ice

Its literally the most perfect mod ever made. I only wish they added a search for creative, and more mod compatibility with stuff like Cobblemon sophisticated backpacks iron chests. But it has so much quality of life stuff that console had that java doesnt, that it should It changes so many little things that make it perfect though i couldnt begin to describe

I play this modpack on my Steam Deck a lot with a custom menu title and panorama so it's as if 4J kept making legacy editions and made an official Steam Deck edition. It feels legit on controller. It's a perfect mix of nostalgia while also playing with the new features. For me it's the ideal way to play Minecraft now. The nostalgia reels me in and keeps me engaged in the new features of the game, which in turn makes me engaged in said new features. Hell, there's an add on to the mod, part of the modpack that adds the skin menu and there's a resource pack which adds nearly every legacy skin pack in, including things like the star wars ones, simpsons, battle and beasts and even the xbox and playstation exclusive variants of the birthday packs

I'd love to see all the legacy tutorial worlds starting from the very first one that i remember.

I have legacy addition in my ps4 and wow! That is pretty sweet! It’s like my childhood leveled up a notch with modern Minecraft stuff I love

God, as someone who used to play console edition, I miss it so much, and I'm glad there's actually mods for it now! Can't wait to see more if you do plan on making more, and a lets play of the tutorial world? That would be awesome imo!

I still have Minecraft for the PS3, its fun to go back to for that nostalgia and to feel old lol.

I remember how in the tutorial world on the actual console you could weirdly bug the chests out if you did not complete the tutorial for them, so you could take the stuff out and then they would respawn inside of the chest :D

Being able to play the mini games again, would be a dream come true. I remember being so good at the glide mini game.

I have the legacy copy, I’m able to go back to the older version but am scared that I would not be able to go back, so I haven’t gone back to the legacy version. I used to play mini games with my cousin all the time when he came over, and we would play for hours on end before he had to leave. So glad that this mod exists so I can relive those memories.

remember playing on my ps3 with a friend, i built a emerald house and tried to play it off as it was real, built a working printer on it. so much fun stuff! this is nostalgia

This put me back to 2016 when i played 1.12 on my Xbox! THe tutorial was for minigames back then too!! Nostalgia at it purest

I would love to see a split version of this mod that has each bit of the Legacy Console feel (worldgen, UI, sounds, etc) I would LOVE to use the Legacy Console UI, especially if it was possible to make it compatible with other crafting interfaces

the best thing about the tutorial world i used to do is somehow learning myself how to duplicate the items in some chests

Now I want to see some of the pre-built worlds for the texture packs. I loved the LBP and Mario worlds on the PS3 and Wii U version respectively.

This is a great video, I would have never realized there was a mod for this.

This is the best Mod i have ever played and one of the best ever made.(May be a hottake but i can explain) This Mod Combines the Legacy Style aswell as its Mechanics (old crafting recipes and Worldgeneration) and mixes those with the new stuff of minecraft such as Ancient City, Nether Update and so on(they even made new Legacy looking textures for new Blocks and Items). And there is also the fact that you play it on Java and there for having smooth gameplay aswell. Its truly the PERFECT Mix of Legacy and Modern Minecraft. Edit: Its always amazing that the Minecraft Moding Community can create such Work of Art!

if you go to video settings and go to gamma and turn it al the way up, you can fully experience the console edition

This mod is nuts. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of the legacy editions with just a few minor flaws. I will say though, the world gen you saw at the beginning is definitely not legacy world gen. I've seen world gen like that in modern Minecraft, but never anything similar in the legacy editions. Though that might be because I played on the Wii U version which is equivalent if not a bit worse than the Xbox 360 edition.

jokes on you i still play this version BUT the 2014 edition. My disc still works from years ago and i just take off the title updates it’s insanely nostalgic.

i love this, i remember playing xbox 360 mc with my dad, the tutorial world was so much fun, i remember hunting for the portal, and all the musics discs. i even remember a faint easter egg "your princess is in another castle" i also remember telling him to punch a wolve with a stick as it will drop tons of loot! ( he got mauled)

Downloaded the mod right after watching the vid, and have been playing for about 2.5 hours, dont think Ive had that much fun playing MC in a while.

Bro the glide mini game brought back memories I never owned an Xbox or PlayStation but my neighbor did we were 5-7 and during winter break me and my brother would go over and play multiplayer on his Xbox one this is back in 2015-2017 and playing the online game of people in a circle chest in the middle and once it’s starts we would jump down and try getting loot and then dipping cause we were to scared to fight. It just hits hard dude and it was the original version of Minecraft console like Xbox one Minecraft not bedrock

I love the Easter eggs tutorials worlds had. My favorite one is seeing some of stampys builds if you flew a certain way.

This is a long comment, so I hope you can read it (: . I still play Minecraft ps3 edition over Xbox 1 edition (bedrock), even though I own both I still choose PS3. There are a few good features in bedrock edition such as being able to change FOV, the nether update, shields but other than that ps3 edition still has better features. It’s much more simple, much more fun. The tutorial world and the mini games are just amazing. Also Gareth Coker’s mini game music made me vibe more than most music in the last 5 years. Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but ps3 edition is just amazing. Thanks for reading this, have a good day ❤

I’ve had an experience on legacy console, edition Minecraft, where somebody was hacking in one of the mini games and was dropping every item in Minecraft, including hidden items, and I can confirm that spectral arrows do not look like that. They are much more golden looking and shiny.

As a bedrock player that has gotten to go back to legacy bill a few times on their PS4I am so glad they made a mod for Java where you can go to the legacy builds on Java.I'm really glad others can do that.Join me join me in legacy

I did not grow up playing legacy console because I can't afford a console, but I did watch it and dream about it. Now being able to play it on java just feel comforting

honestly makes me wanna crack open my 360 again and try and transfer all my worlds over, I have one and Im super happy with it, I honestly need to get back into that one lol

my favorite tutorial world was the TU32 update one, cause i used to play it with my friend and we made the spawn a city and we made our own houses and stuff. good times.

Legacy battle mini game was my brothers favorite just cause he was good at pvp and I wasn’t, I wish mojang brings back legacy it will bring back our childhoods.

The minigames from console edition were so fucking good. I feel like not a lot of people liked them much but I always thought they were real fun and well handled. ^v^

broooooo this brings me back to playing with my dad after like 2nd grade school. my mom would walk in on us playing split screen while he built our house and I was out caving. I wish times were still that simple. i think I need this mod for my current online world with my boys right now, currently in highschool. This does have some of the missing aspects, but the majority is there. I wish I could go back to that ps3.

This is a complete pipedream, but if this mod ever adds local co-op, then me and my brother are going to have an absolute field trip with this mod. (We used to play the original legacy edition on the PS3 together, so it'd just be the best time. Doubt there will be local co-op added though.)

I hope they put this in the Bedrock Edition marketplace, would love to have this on consoles
