00:00 Giant asteroid heading our way 00:43 The Moon almost exploded? 02:04 Thanks Omaze! 03:12 Asteroids falling on the Moon 06:04 Moon shattered into pieces 07:24 More drastic consequences What if suggestion: What if all the planets lost their moons and rings. I watched all your videos. I am a serious what ifer.
This channel got me into loving Astronomy way more than I thought it would have! Awesome video by the way, can you please do a video on "What If the Milky Way Was The Only Galaxy In the Universe?" that would be really interesting video to see!! :)
the meteor would have to be .75 moons, but the meteor would leave a giant crater on the moon, similar to the one that may have made hills on the core of the moon.
Scientifically suspect. 45⁰ tilt would cause bigger seasonal swings; hotter summers and colder winters. Ice ages? We have variations in the wobble of the Earth's axis now as model.
I'm addicted to this channel... You have the perfect voice and the most exciting topics... This is the most epic channel I've ever seen ❤... Keep it up and give ourselves these exciting videos everyday🥺❤🖤
The old Hanna-Barbara cartoon Thundarr the Barbarian opened with a rogue planet passing between the Earth and the Moon, causing our satellite not to split in two but break into many large pieces. And these pieces stayed in orbit, giving the Earth many smaller moons.
There's a movie called' 'Impact' that's about the moon being hit by a brown dwarf and causes not only pieces of the moon flying right at the Earth but also a piece of the brown dwarf that eventually landed on earth, it turns the earth and moon into giant magnets and the earth starts pulling the moon towards it, it's a pretty good movie, the special effects are so so, but the movie itself is really good.
Sagittarius A* , abbreviated SGR A* is the supermassive blackhole at the galactic center of the milky way. It is the located near the border of constellation of sagittarius and scorpius, about 5.6 south of the ecliptic, visually close to the butterfly cluster and the lambda scorpii.
Dude you give me goosebumps just by imagining it realistically because what if it's really going to really happens? Not now not in 3 or 5 yrs but maybe 50 yrs or 100 yrs
If they were gravitationally locked and orbiting eachother at the exact right speed and distance, then... Yes.. But, that would change everything you know about earth , like for example, instead of 1-2 meter waves on the coast, we would have tsunamis ALL THE TIME. Waves could be hundreds of meters or even km high, high and low tides would cover significant spans of distance, possibly submerging entire continents. Gravity itself might be effected, winds could get out of control, seasons would probably be significantly different, and most if not all life (if there even was life) would have to adapt to the completely different circumstances. It would be highly unlikely there would be intelligent life as the planet would be extremely violent... Basically natural disasters of unimaginable proportions would be standard every day weather - earthquakes literally off the Richter scale*, tsunamis, hurricanes, blizzards, volcanoes exploding 24/7* * There would be no "Richter scale" as there would be no Richter *24/7 would be meaningless as "hours" "days" and "weeks" would be different amounts of time, and there would be no humans to measure time anyway
If Luna was a second Earth, we would have an Earth orbiting an Earth. And no, we wouldn’t collide into it… for billions of years at least… But I’d worry more about The Sun turning into a red giant and roasting us at the same time as Luna spirals into Earth.
You missed what would happen to the Earth’s rotation due to the law of conservation of angular momentum. Absent the Moon, Earth’s rotation would accelerate, wreaking havoc on plate tectonics, the atmosphere, and everything in between. It would be a very bad day.
Theoretically, under circumstances where the moon being shattered doesn't affect our oceans and wind, Earth could have it's own "ring" of ex-moon asteroid fragments
I had a nightmare today,My mother called me and said "Look at that Alan".Then I said "wait is that an aster" then the moon hit the Moon, And EAS alarms start to ring loudly and Asteroid started hitting and it was Bright,Then I began to Pray,Thankfully I woke up!
The idea you could crack the moon into two pieces is ridiculous. Hitting the moon with a large asteroid with enough energy to overcome the gravity that holds the moon together would liquify the majority of the rock from both objects.
I feel like in 100 years, when earth becomes a Type 1 Civilization, we’ll be able to revive dead people, and also most of the rogue planets we know of will have found a star to orbit around.
This might be a really stupid question, but: Why does the moon attract the water but not the air? because the mass of air is much lighter than water is
Yeah it attracts air too but not as much as water. Why? Cuz water has *more mass* . so just do the math re: gravitational attraction. GREAT QUESTION, tho! Never crossed my mind. You should send it in to *Star Talk Radio* (podcast)
Has anyone looked at the moon recently? Look at it closely on the bottom right of it when its a full moon, theres a piece chipped off its hard to see it but I tell you it's there
