@ys5pjI feel it’s a bit early to try anything like that, while we haven’t seen anything in the show yet so far WoG has said that the NCR is still alive, it’s just Shady Sands and the area around it specifically that are fucked. We’ll have to wait for season two to find out if the Bear’s thriving with a new capital in Vegas or if it’s dying with one head already dead elsewhere.
Dunno why Caesar wastes one of his best leaders acting basically like a petty schoolgirl. He's a smart guy, even despite the brain tumor, and Joshua is a quite capable and well vetted leader with unquestioning conditional loyalty... and Sallow would've known what the composition and average state of Joshuas army was, allowing him to know that his failures were the fault of his low quality levies barely brought up to standard after a costly campaign. Caesar is a master of logistics, if his massive empire shows anything, and a master of battle. Provided Joshua didn't utterly obliterate his entire quantity of high quality forces as he did in the follow up of hoover dam I don't think Sallow would've limited his troop counts and showed blatant favoritism for Lanius, discounting their entire friendship and destroying Joshua's standing. Overall, it's a bad decision, and he's a great general and tactician as shown by his repeated victories despite low quality manpower.
Which is more survivable, getting set on fire and being thrown off the grand canyon? Or being hanged and falling down hoover damn? Actually when you say it like that this actually does seem more survivable.
@@tinopulkka956 if graham hit the ridges/wall parts of the canyon then it would be more likely than him getting hanged then fall off Hoover dam I mean it would be more painful but survivable for a man that can take a 50 bmg to the chest and live
Lanius: butchers tons of troops in order for a minor gain Caesar: awww, you're sweet! Joshua: butchers tons of troops in order for a minor gain Caesar: Hello, crucifixion resources!!
Caesar was scared of Joshua, scared that Joshua will overthrown him, lanius in other hand is beast, not a man, he cares only about war, about battle, about adrenaline, he can never think of doing anything against Caesar
i love the notion of graham becoming a living legend being a canon event. no matter what happens, he will inexplicably survive despite everything. burned man or hanged man.
I just hope he doesn't show up in the TV show or in any new title. I wish Bethesda just forgets about Graham, so that his legend can't be butchered for sake of the modern audiences.
In Metro: Last Light the Red Line (AKA: the Stalinist Communists with a Trotskyist view of expansionist policy) use shields in the Battle for D6 against the Spartan Rangers so their flamethrower units can get into range without being shot at by the Rangers defending with their backs against the wall. Wouldn’t be surprised if Omega used that as inspiration :D
It's funny how weak the canon Chosen One is compared to his potential. Killing Frank in one round without help is quite feasible if you fully tap the Chosen One's potential - I suppose they didn't want him to be overpowered, so they made the diplomacy build canon.
For anyone wondering why Caesar was trying his best to get rid of Joshua, remember that even as the Malpais Legate, he was already a threat to his uncontested rule of the Legion. Caesar may be the brains, and it may be HIS Legion, but Joshua was the one putting in the work, fighting on the front with his legionaries and using his civilized upbringing to his advantage in warfare. Caesar was not a warrior, Joshua was. Caesar was merely putting on the front of the Son of Mars, he swears like a sailor if you tick him off enough, but Joshua is genuinely affable, stoic, calm, and measured. Joshua would inevitably become more popular than Caesar if he was left alive, and that simply would not do. Coupled with the fact that he's the only other person who knows that the Legion is built on a lie, a twisted, poisonous idea of the Old World's history, and the fact that he knows Caesar's less than impressive upbringing, well... Yeah, I'm more surprised Joshua lasted this long with hos many times Caesar tried to hold him under the bus. Also, I love how poetic the endings are, and even the events leading up to that. I get the idea that the legionaries left Joshua alone both out of fear for his power and respect for when he commanded them and their comrades in battle, so I can totally see him taking control of the Legion and reforming it to be the REAL civilization that Caesar was simply pretending it was. Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Caesar's own idea works against him. The thesis is the brutality of the Malpais Legate, the antithesis is the Hanged Man, and the synthesis is what becomes of the Legion after he delivers his judgement on the dictator that used it to ravage the wasteland. Another thing, the mental image of the NCR stumbling upon a reformed Legion is hilarious. I'm just imagining every trooper grabbing their weapons only to reluctantly stand down after realizing that the legionaries are just spreading around gospels and helping settlers build around the area. Maybe their humiliating defeat in the Mojave finally taught their government a lesson and it found its way back to the original ideas the NCR was founded on. Maybe it finally stopped being an imperialist nation ripping itself apart by expanding too much. Hopefully.
Hegelian Dialectics were invented and written for men like Caesar. How beautifully poetic that Joshua would become the Churchillian Inversion of the concept.
Doesn't it feel contradictory to punish his most effective general for... Succeeding? That doesn't make sense, is that even Sallow at that point?(Like seriously, Caesar only expects results and doesn't care how it's done. If that was the case, the Courier would get a mouthful that he did a thing Caesar didn't want him to do even if it got the job done) Even if he is scared of Joshua's popularity. You can't just punish your general for succeeding based on casualties as an excuse alone, the entire Legion throws recruit legionaries into the fray because the military is based on martial prowess. This seems to undermine Caesar's whole character as a whole. Could you also explain why Caesar is still the Emperor when his intentions was to make the nation into a republic?
@@Blackandwhitecat-to5ll 1. caesar is history's hypocrite. it doesn't matter if something makes no sense to anyone or even his own internal logic, if he wants to do it, he'll do it, consequences be damned 2. caesar clearly has no idea how to actually turn his roving band of marauders into a standing army protecting an ACTUAL nation, so i'm not surprised that he's just winging it and trying to figure out how the hell he's supposed to accomplish his delusional power fantasy while sitting on his throne in the ultra luxe
@@feliciaf8 yep, basically what happens to new Vegas if the couriers a speed runner asshole, imagine Sierra Madre's tone and difficulty except it's like that all the time, you get killed in two shots, you got tunnelers crawling up your ass the moment you step off the road, the only remnants of two factions shoot you on site, and any other survivors of the Fall are either cannibals or just don't like the look of ya. Overall 10/10 the mod gave me Stockholm syndrome
Great work again! Another fun one would be a what if Asher succeeded at the end of the PIT DLC and ended up with full steel production and a cure for the trig degeneration/maybe a cure for radiation period? (they were kinda vague about the babies powers)
The Asher route aftermath definitely needs to be explored. So many possibilities, especially since there is the radiation resistance formula that was developed and given to the player at the end of the dlc (not the cure). Increased radiation resistance sounds like a big deal, and it leads the door open for other serums to be developed, sort of like Lesko's fire ant serums or the mutation serums from Fallout 76
@@tinaherr3856Depends on if the brotherhood ever went west again. If they can get to Boston they can definitely get back to Pittsburgh because it’s closer to DC than Boston is. And now that the show is claiming they flew to the west coast apparently. Probably nothing came of it.
@@OrysB-po1fy I don't know why you're saying that the Brotherhood of Steel has to be a major factor. Ashur was no longer a part of the Brotherhood by the time of Fallout 3. His comrades thought he was dead, and left him. Ashur building his new civilization as Lord of the Pitt does not need to be based on whatever the Brotherhood of Steel is doing
I mean it makes sense for this legion, led by Graham and one that has not suffered a single defeat to very well use roman wave tactics and shieldwalls... By the New Vegas time, after suffering the defeat at first Battle, Legion has completely reshuffled its strategy, copying NCR's fireteams and moving on to reliance on guerilla warfare and subterfurge.
because that doesn't work when your enemies have bullets? Even Byzantium abandoned that system to use the more viking-style shield formations that involved spears.
Because carrying around a sheet of metal strong and thick enough to stop modern firearms is pretty much just losing the battle by exhausting your soldiers before they reach the enemy. Basically you'd need a Sentry Bot to move it around the battlefield and you'd have to downgrade its weapons so it doesn't overheat and fry the soldiers behind it.
@@anvos658 You underestimate the stamina of the legionnaires... They are being brought up all their life in flagstaff, a place where american athletes go to train before olympics due to how high it is. Pushed through harshes training there is in the wasteland. Training everyday like olympic athletes, the legionnaires would be rather easily capable of walking around with this shit, as it would be a massive advantage against their most common type of foes- tribals.
The Mercy path reminds of the conversion of the Roman Empire to Christianity! If Edward can be considered the equivalent of Nero, Joshua would be Constantine in this timeline. Oh, and your narration of Joshua's redemption in the Cross was absolutely beautiful, that I think a few tears dropped from my eyes. Another great video, man!
The one key difference is that the conversion of constantine and the officialization of christianity as the imperial religion, wasn't done out of genuine concern for morality or his soul. It was simply a political manouver to solidify his position in a world where the christian cult had effectively become too popular to treat like any other religion within the cosmopolitan empire. Owing to the supranational, almost "universal" values of new testament christianity, the cosmopolitan unification of religion through imperial ritual (where our term religion comes from, namely "religio", an official ritual all religious people had to perform, involving animal sacrifice, which the christians fervently stood against due to their belief that Christ had been the last sacrifice.) could no longer be held high as the golden standard of political power over the religious masses. Another difference is that Joshua would likely use his newfound faith (whether justified or not) to preach peace, forgiveness, and teaching. Whereas the roman empire simply continued empiring, warring, conquering, killing, and violently opressing innocents, along with draining funds from the perifery for the good of the oligarchical elite of the hegemonic centre, all in the official name of "imperial peace". The christian religion was just another tool for mass control. One for whom the cosmopolitan ideals of old rome had to give way to a more dogmatic, monotheistic monolithic empire, with the new faith being the main ideology. We can talk about justification all we want, but let's never forget this. Rome didn't suddenly have a change of heart. It had a change of political strategy.
The legend returns. This channel is very definition of quality over quantity, the writing of Joshua is masterfully done, especially the inclusion of branching endings allowing the viewer to somewhat take part. Can’t wait for the next video, seriously.
Love the imagery of Joshua as Christ. And just like Christ his word spelled the end of Rome and the brutality of the past for the hope of better world, not by blood and fire, but by love and mercy.
These alternate scenario videos are brilliant, always an interesting watch. A fun one to explore could be “what if the Brotherhood won in operation sunburst”
I thought up a story of after the legions defeat at hover dam a new Rome is founded either at the mouth of the Missisippi or in the heart of Mexico. This new legion instead expands east and south to conquer its Mediterranean, the carribean and the gulf of Mexico. Eventually they attempt to take the ruins of the panama canal as a new Constantinople the crossroads of two contiments of a new Byzantium.
I just watched like every video of yours two weeks ago while finally getting into Fallout 76 after playing with some friends, very happy to see you post again
Alright, I'm just going to say this. This story, this character arc... its utterly INCREDIBLE! I loved this so much! I may not be a regular viewer, and I may hate the Legion and what it is, but this... you sir are an incredible storyteller. So much better than the story I wrote about a man of the Legion becoming enlightened and changing the way the Empire turned. I've certainly been inspired to rewrite my story from a new perspective as I've been stuck on it for a long time! You have earned yourself a new subscriber, and I will absolutely be watching your stories from here on out! Once again, good job sir!
The name "The Hanged Man" here is rather fitting in more ways than one, if you compare Joshua's transformation into The Hanged Man with the Tarot card of the same name. Generally, The Hanged Man card represents a pause in one's journey to contemplate and reflect on things, to consider new paths and choices ahead while considering the choices you already made to get this far, especially your mistakes and regrets. It can also symbolize choosing to make a sacrifice in order to undo or amend your mistakes.
Yet another great listen, thank you for yet another amazing alternate history. These always feel very well researched and more often than not In-Character.
I love to see a part two. There so much more to go over. Stuff like the finer details of Joshua's Empire, the Mojave itself, Mr.House still trying to find the platinum chip and breakaway, the next showdown with the militaristic and authoritarian NCR, BoS, the other DLC locations, and more.
What if the brotherhood captured the enclave oil rig with the chosen one joining the brotherhood capturing the enclave bases and manufacturing capacity
What if the Brotherhood of Steel didn't stopped at Helios one and continued moving until they arrived at Hoover Dam (before the NCR)? That was originally the BOS plan but Elijah insisted on staying at Helios One so he could crack it's secrets, which concluded in the NCR reaching them and almost destroying them.
here's my bet, the BOS would stay at the dam, but would quickly release it didn't serve much purpose to them, but by this point both the NCR and legion would encircle them, this could result in 3 things, 1 the BOS is swiftly destroyed by the NCR and Legion, 2 the BOS allies with the NCR and helps fight the legion or 3 The BOS allies with the legion and helps take out the NCR
Every time a new one of these videos come out, It Brightens my day, honesty is awesome to see someone being as creative as this RU-vidr is. You should be up there creating the new Fallout Lore.
Heeeeeeeeey I remember pitching this suggestion ages ago! VERY happy to see it covered. ...and I spot that reference to Van Buren with the Hanged Man being Graham's new identity. Very very nice. Sorta curious. In a Graham lead Legion. Do you think the possibility of negotiations with the NCR would open up? Or are the battle scars too deep and too entrenched for the attempt to be viable?
Yes Joshua would be open to negotiate with the NCR, and I don't think the NCR would be able to justify more military action even with the wounds from last time.
Wasn't expecting this video to be posted, I figured it would be more Enclave's survival in Fallout 76 chapters. But you managed to impress me and others.👍😁
Rahhhh! Omegainitiative upload!!!!!! The gods have blessed us with another boon! For real though you have amazing storytelling capabilities, please continue doing what you do 👍
They would need to go to Vegas for the rangefinder, and that's not something they could practically do. Even if they managed to get Archimeded operational, they couldn't use it.
Another great video as always. Even if it feels less like Fallout, and *really* caters to the community's obsession with Joshua Graham, I still think it's pretty cool. I hate to say that I don't think the Legion using a shield wall would be enough to win the 1st Battle, the main reason why the NCR won was due to the Rangers and their ambush in Boulder City, but I still think it's a cool touch. I also was hoping that we'd get more of the Legion's perspective, of the troubles of dealing with Brotherhood insurgents, rather than the extensive focus on Graham. Honestly, it kind of feels more like his story rather than that of the Legion as a whole. I'm not saying its bad, it's certainly higher quality than anything I could put together, but I just feel like this is Graham fanfiction in the second half. Personally, I'd love to know what your creative process is. I'm inspired by your work personally, and I'd like to make a series of my own set in a setting of my own creation in a similar vein, with a bit more focus on individual characters in sections. So I'd love to see how you make these videos. Maybe a behind the scenes video would be cool?
