If you've spent any amount of time around the channel or my social media accounts, you're probably familiar with my love of the Magnus Archives. With that in mind, I decided that, while working on a bigger project, it would be really interesting to think about what might happen if different TMA characters were Avatars of Dread Powers beyond their original patrons. If you have different opinions or just want to talk about my thoughts, the comments are always open to civil discussion. As always, please consider liking and subscribing to support the channel. Anyways, I've been Afton G. Kier, and good night, y'all!
Also, since it's so new, thank y'all so much for getting us to 100 subscribers. This video was in the works for a couple days, so I didn't really have time to throw in a 100 sub thank you, but there'll be a proper one in the next video, promise. Anyways, y'all're the best.

HuntJonah founded the SCP Foundation instead of the Magnus Archives
@amberspark9434

Honestly that’s a super cool idea. An institute like the magnus institute but a stronghold for the hunt in charge of wiping out avatars.

@@amberspark9434 Ah, but that would be less Scp and more Global occult coalition. The foundation wants to *contain*. So I d argue Web!Jonah could very well be 05-1

@@ultimatereedfour9534 Yeah true, it would be now that I think about it. SCP foundation would be more collecting avatars for no other reason than they can (maybe if there’s still a little eye in there studying them). Hmm, makes me wonder what entities the other GOIs would be… (Maybe buried for Marshal Carter and Dark because of it’s capitalism aspect, Wondertainment would 1000% be the stranger, Broken God are extinction and you can’t tell me otherwise, and hm, maybe the eye for Serpent’s Hand because of the whole Wanderer’s Library and intellectual debate thing, but they also care far more about stories then actual facts and knowledge-)

Nah. Basira is the Dark in my mind. She refused to see the truth of Daisy’s crimes, preferring to “stay in the dark” about it, and she has two major encounters with it. The mission against Maxwell Rayner, which caused her to quit the police force, and her and Jon’s trip to the Dark Sun. She would play off of the fear of crimes being unsolved and covered up as it was both something she was afraid of and also what she perpetuated

Breekon and Hope could also be Desolation. They bring items to ruin people's lives senselessly, you can't really escape them, and then they're cruelly separated and become a victim of the senseless loss of that which is most important to them. I think their characters lean more to that than the Buried. Granted, they lack the flame motive, but I'm happy to overlook that for argument's sake 😂

I always saw Jon as more the Lonely if not the Eye. He has no remaining family members, no close friends. While he does develop a few strong relationships with people like Daisy and Martin, most of his bonds crumble before they can ever really form. Jon has spent the majority of the series being horribly isolated to the point that looking back, I'm honestly surprised he didn't wind up falling to the Lonely in a similar way to Martin in season four.

i always saw leitner as the eye. he collected books (vessels of information) and he tried his best to understand and learn about them. he even sacrificed assistants in order to better understand what the books did. eye, all the way. plus, the hubris thing is in other avatars of the eye that we see.

I like to assosciate Tim with the Desolation, as at the end, he cared about nothing but hurting the Circus. I also think the End is fitting for being assosciated with Jonah. Aside from his devotion to the Eye motivating his plans, he truly fears death, which motivates many of his actions
@StatementEnds
@StatementEnds Год назад
I do stand by the little we know about Sasha being incredibly Eye, specifically her willingness to dive headfirst into insane, dangerous situations for the sake of information (look at her conversations with Michael and following him to the cemetery), as well as her weird sense of morality in regards to privacy. (Literally hacking her friends’ accounts and going through their personal records just because she thinks it’s fun.)

If it weren't for John being marked by The Web, which Jonah viewed as a blessing and a sign, I am convinced he would've picked Sasha instead. Everybody at the Institute seems to have expected Sasha to replace Gertrude, and with her archival and research background she would've made a better replacement than Johnny

I know Eye Sasha has been done to death and back but I think it fits her. She keeps snooping around her coworkers' personal information and she's willing to meet up with Michael in a graveyard at night by herself (which is like 5 red flags in one) for a bit of information she wanted. This woman is unhinged

I think the sculptor could have been associated with the Buried too. I actually thought he was in the first part of the episode because he works with clay and because they said something about how it felt like he was pressing in on them even when he wasn’t actually very close.

Hear me out: if you've ever watched a spider spin a web, you'll likely note that a big part of its construction is a spiral. Pretty sure the Spiral and the Web in cahoots, you can't convince me otherwise.
@FinalFantasmagorie
@FinalFantasmagorie Год назад
Absolutely. Not to mention that, from a conceptual standpoint, the manipulations of the Web and gaslighting of the Spiral are quite similar, split only in the Spiral's lack of motivation. Also, I've watched plenty of spider webs being built, so I 100% agree on the spiral pattern thing.
@cnidarianglow1041
@cnidarianglow1041 7 месяцев назад
I almost wonder if the Web was actually supposed to be an aspect of the Spiral, in sort of the same way as the Distortion, that grew in power and intelligence with the complexity of its victims’ fears until it could wrestle its way into becoming a fully-fledged fear entity, stealing some stuff from the Corruption (let’s be real, what does being full of spiders actually have to do with manipulation?) on its way to emergence.

Alfred Grifter might be a good alternate avatar for the web. Putting aside the violence caused by his music (and that is a lot of his character to put aside), controlling others to do stuff against their will is pretty fitting. I also love that the fears in general bleed together. The Buried and the Web both control people to do things against their will, the Hunt and the Slaughter being really close together, the Desolation and the Lonely as they both lead to the same end. It’s also a nice foreshadowing to the reveal at the end of the series for where the fears came from

Leitner and Smirke: Eye. Both are all about actively collecting and categorizing information on the Fears. Tim: Desolation. Going out in a fiery rage to hurt the Circus. Jon: Extinction. His endgame of literally causing the extinction of all life and all Fear. Mikael silaesa (butchered the spelling): explicitly Stranger leaning but resisting in canon.
@dilophosaurussk4333
@dilophosaurussk4333 Год назад
No Entity: -Jurgen Leitner: The Eye. He got a bit too curious about those books, and the Ceaseless Watcher took him. -Robert Smirke: The Spiral. He went mad while trying to comprehend Fear and then started making fucked up architecture. -Mikhail Salessa: The Stranger. I mean he mentioned worrying about possibly falling to the Stranger already, what if those worries came true? -Adelaard Dekker: The Eye. Pretty much the same thing as Leitner, just obsessively researching the Extinction instead. -Gerard Keay: The Desolation. Same reasons mentioned in this video. -Mary Keay: The End. Obvious. -Tim Stoker: The Hunt. By the end, just about the only thing he wanted was revenge. What if he got it, survived, but was left… unsatisfied? -Sasha James: The Eye. Gertrude gets her wish and she becomes the Archivist. The Slaughter: -Melanie King: The Darkness. During her time at the Institute, she decides to try and escape it through the help of one Mr. Pitch. -Alfred Grifter: The Web. His music forces people to dance as he pleases. He just uses that gift crudely. -The Piper: The End. Only those fated to die in the upcoming attack can hear it´s tune. Also the Slaughter and End are both stated to get their fill during wartime. The Desolation: -Agnes Montague: The Web. The Story Spinner bound her to Gertrude Robinson, she was raised by Raymond Fielding, she didn´t want to have a destiny but had it anyway… I feel like if she wasn´t literally the Desolation made manifest she would have fallen to the Hidden Machination. -Jude Perry: The Hunt. Trevor Herbert compares the Hunt to an addiction, Jude was an addict, and she was a serial killer before lighting herself on fire. Yeah, pretty Hunt to me. -Arthur Nolan: The Corruption. He gets wasps´ nested instead of Jane Prentice, and that is that. The Hunt: -Daisy: The Slaughter. She gets corrupted by the maimed figure instead of Calvin Benchley. Also she is already a very temperamental person to say the least so, yeah, Slaughter it is. -Trevor Herbert: The Web. He´s a drug addict, and vampires have some Web elements what with their mind control, so, I´m saying he belongs to the Web. -Julia Montauk: The Darkness. Yeah pretty obvious one. -Basira Hussain: The Web. Mostly I imagine her using Daisy as one of her favourite pawns. Also a Web avatar with a Slaughter attack dog is a really cool concept so, although I may be biased here, I´m going with the Web. The Eye: -Jonathan Sims: The Spiral. Him denying the supernatural exists to keep himself „safe“ and then that breaking somewhere around the point demonic worms got in his body, but it didn´t and he just doubled down on lying to himself while also going through his paranoid mania arc from season 2 with maybe a little push from Michael could get him to fall to the Spiral I believe. -Jonah Magnus: The Extinction. A man willing to sacrifice the world in order to gain power? Also he was born at around the same time the industrial revolution (And it´s consequences) started happening? Yeah, I could see him making for a great Extinction avatar. The Web: -Annabelle Cane: The Eye. Same reasons mentioned in this video. -Raymond Fielding: The Corruption. He provides a home to children desperate for a family. Yeah the Corruption could easily worm it´s way in there I think. -Neil Lagorio: The Stranger. Creepy creator of marionettes? Yep, that´s a Stranger from me doc. The Spiral: -The Distortion: The Stranger. Doors leading to god knows where and weird uncanny valley people. Look this one is tied to the Spiral so firmly this is the best you are getting from me. -The Man Who Wasn´t There: The Stranger. Same reasons mentioned in this video. -Gabriel: The Flesh. I mean, take a look at what his „apprentice“ did, and tell me he couldn´t be a Flesh avatar. The Stranger: -NotThem: The Spiral. Same reasons mentioned in this video. -Breekon And Hope: The Corruption. I mean they started out as two guys collecting the dead from plague. I feel like they could have been a part of the Corruption. -Nikola Orsinov: The Slaughter. Yeah I am grasping at straws, but her going „You have time until I get bored“ seems very „Random, unpredictable violence“ to me. Also killer clownssss. -The Anglerfish: The Web. It lures people in, uses them as puppets, and does so through exploiting addiction. Yeah I´m calling the Web on this one. -The Anatomy Students: The Flesh. Yeah, pretty obvious choice. The Darkness: -Maxwell Rayner: The Vast. Same reasons mentioned in this video. -Manuela Dominguez: The Vast. She just switched places with Jan Killbride aboard the Daedalus I guess. -Robert Montauk: The Eye. Tried to find a way to fight the Darkness, and fell to the Ceaseless Watcher in the process. Also serial killers could have some Eye connections what with stalkers and the like. The Buried: -Karolina Gorka: The End. Resigned herself to death and became an avatar for it. Pretty End stuff to me. -Hezekiah Wakely: The End. Same reasons mentioned in this video. The Corruption: -Jane Prentiss: The Desolation. She used to be a witch, but found no great satisfaction from it. What if she joined the Cult of the Lightless Flame, seeking a more exciting form of religion? -John Amherst: The Slaughter? I don´t know. He maybe became an avatar during the Second Boer War, and the Slaughter is most associated with war… I don´t know ok? -Old Maggie: The Extinction. Obsessed with collecting humanity´s garbage. What if she decided to use it for Extinction related purposes? The Flesh: -Jared Hopworth: The Desolation. He was a big bully. I could see him falling to the Desolation. -Toby Carlisle: The Corruption. Ew. That´s all I have to say. The Lonely: -Martin Blackwood: The Web. Obvious pick. -Peter Lukas: The Corruption. Him grooming Martin into the Lonely, and coming from a weird family, I think could be twisted into the Corruption´s form in some way. The Vast: -Michael Crew: The Spiral. The Spiral wanted him already, it just got him this time. Also the Spiral demands to have a Michael. -Simon Fairchild: The Extinction. His nihilism about humanity, plans to do something with overpopulation and space exploration, and general lack of worry about the Extinction make me say he´s an Extinction avatar. Just, move him forward in time so he wouldn´t be older than his patron. The End: -Oliver Banks: The Lonely. Same reasons as mentioned in this video. -Justin Gough: The Buried. Same reasons as mentioned in this video. -Tova McHugh: The Desolation. Same reasons as mentioned in this video.

I really love your MAG videos! I was wondering how you personally feel about what entity Georgie would end up being if she didn't become fearless? In her statement we see that her particular encounter was related to the End and I was wondering if you see her as an End avatar or part of some other entity. I'm glad you shared your ideas on this topic because i've been thinking about this exact topic for awhile

While we don't actually see that much from Georgina Barker throughout the series, I think I would probably go with the End for the reasons you've already mentioned. Georgie's encounter with the End really cements it, but even looking at her personality, it makes it easy to say that her callousness regarding fear makes the End a great fit. However, outside of the End, I could probably make an argument for the Eye, given her interest in pursuing information as a part of her show, What the Ghost, or the Stranger, given that she is confirmed to be the person who recommended Sarah Baldwin to Melanie King. Regardless, though, it is very difficult to determine where she would be without the End, since so much of what we know about her is centred around that Entity's influence, but those are my best guesses.

I hate the Buried so much but I love Hezekiah Wakely so much as well. I was looking forward to his episode for seasons on my latest relisten! I like the End for him too, especially since he ended Nathaniel Beale's life. Or the Lonely because of the Lonely episode with the graveyard early on with the headstone that said "forgotten". Hezekiah makes at least one person be "forgotten" by cutting the bell and it could be interpreted as he wants the people in the graveyard and himself to be alone. The grave cancels out a lot of noise and he said it's quieter than the church, and it's quiet when you're alone. Martin talks about it a lot but especially when talking to Jon in the Lonely in ep 159
