Actually Chile claims sovereign territory down to the south pole, making it much longer than shown in the video, and form 1879 to 1884 during the Pacific War against Perú and Bolivia, Chile conquered all the pacific coastline up to Lima, Perú, achieving a costal length of 8663 km. Also during that time Chile had the strongest navy on the Pacific, patrolling with little opposition up to San Francisco and successfully sending a battleship to stop the US annexation of Panama in April 1885. So Longer Chile could have very well been a reality.
During the same war during which we stole Peru's and Bolivia's territory, Argentina politely asked "Hey, Chile, mind if I take all this land you own beyond the Andes? My army is doing nothing ATM.". And Chile was like "Ugh, screw you Argentina, it's yours." The Andes is a very strong defensive position, and the reason Chile is so narrow. Strong, natural barriers with few passes. But that also means that anything beyond the Andes is very hard to reinforce. You can't reach it by sea, and land passes are rare and easy to hold.
As a hypothetical Longer Chile citizen in Guadalajara, I'm just gonna say Longer Chile it's the best name for a country ever, in this earth and any other, my fellow Spanish speakers will understand
@@androide_t5322 chile is isn't the only country to be experiencing this, australia, japan, canada, taiwan, the philippines, new zealand, peru, ecuador, panama, guatemala, mexico, el salvador, the US state hawaii, also have what you are having because these countries are also besiding the pacific ocean, all countries that have boundaries with ring of fire technically will going to have it
So we would have 2 Los Angeles south and Los Angeles north. I really believe that Chile was always meant to be longer. Also, I knew that Grunge was Chilean all this time.
current Chile has Route 5, the longest route of the country going across most of it's lenght, I can imagine Longer Chile's Route 5 being a touristic paradise lol
@@oliviaagueroasaro9174 Ya, but we kinda just....gave it to you like nothing. We were in the middle of the pacific war, so being at another war at the same time was not a good idea.
The road that supposedly united cali with Punta Arenas actually is cut short about 300km north of Punta Arenas because of that area is filled with fjords, wich makes all the territory south of Chile mostly dependant on ferrys or boats
Just was going to say that! The entire region (like a state) where is Punta Arenas, its unconnected, so we have to cross to Argentina if we want to go by land or take a ferry or plane if we dont want to go to Argentina
The US-Canadian Pacific Coast already is a mirror of Chile (or viceversa). Except for those living in Hollywood or in the Bay Area, there is a southern replica to your city or area. For example, look up Corral, Chile if you live in Astoria, OR.
YT recommended this, maybe cz I'm chilean. If Longer Chile was real, I'd definitely move north just to be near Canada 💖 Chile deeply admires Canada, lots of love!
I believe that with an economy so big, and basically being a long coastline they would've invested crazy amounts of money in the marine in the last century and be the most powerful navy in the world
@Deva Rafael Yes... although having only 20 km of coastline with other Croatian islands closely surrounding it (not to mention relatively shallow waters) makes having a port there not very feasible. As such, BiH is functionally landlocked, because the nearest usable port is on the Croatian side. Also, if Croatia goes ahead and builds their proposed bridge over their islands that would enable bypassing the Neum border crossing entirely, that potentially spells more trouble for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Now what about Longest Chile? Where it doesn't stop with the pacific, and instead wraps all the way around the Americas until it meets its southern border again.
There actually is a route to Anchorage from Vancouver, however it would not fit on the map you have provided, as it takes hwy 97 (BC) up to Prince George, etc. So, it is possible, and when Longer Chile Becomes a country, they would most likely consider this and take over much of BC. Love the video btw.
At 1:26 there is a mistake, the war wasnt initially for conquest, it started because bolivia's government broke a treaty and rose taxes on chilean companies in the coast, beeing sure peru would help and Chile wouldnt attack. Boy they were wrong.

In 1851, the rebel side was in the north, in the center-south and in the extreme south, and the government side was in the center-north and in the south ...
No. La wea nefasta. Yo compre un producto por este courier, y los bastardos me dejaron en una agencia y lo tuve que ir a buscar. Cuando deberían dejar en mi casa.
The Pacific war (that is the name of the war between chile, bolivia and peru) was started because an unfair raise in taxes to saltpeter and was backed financially by England becoming for a brief time becoming the strongest navy in America, so the saltpeter war was, for a tax reason not a expansion reason
As a Chilean, I'm kind of glad this is not a reality. With how incompetent authorities are in this country, it would 100% be an absolute disaster to make our country that long xD
If Chile were this long, it would be on the Pacific ring of fire which would cause us to have even more earthquakes. Which in reality, to the Chileans, does not worry much.
@@pullfunnystick As someone who would be living in “longer Chile” I can honestly say I’m pretty sure majority of my province would be happy to join any other country. Please Chile, save us from Trudeau
