One big run idea I would like to see is like… a reverse big run where we take over a salmon run stage for turf war for a limited time. Maybe because we failed a Big Run, a normal stage is taken over but a salmon run stage becomes part of the rotation since they’re all in the new stage? Idk I think it would be neat to retrofit some of the salmon run stages into turf war or ranked modes.

I think this would be fun because I love Big Runs, like I would just want ANY excuse to get more of them 😭 sure, let’s lose wahoo world and get to play on it AGAIN in another run to get it back, I just love Big Run

Prepare to save grand fest boys

I think something that might go over better is sort of like an "early access" reward for Big Run. Say Camp Triggerfish is the next big run stage; if the egg quota is met, the stage gets added to the rotation immediately, and if not hold the stage back for around two weeks for """cleanup duty""". If Splatoon 4 wants to have greater emphasis on the war between us and the salmonids, maybe have a seasonal map rotation, and any stages not in this season's selection get put in Big Run and can be reclaimed

What if there was an object that you had to protect that can be healed with the golden eggs? It always feels weird that we save the stage by stealing eggs. It doesn't feel like we are the home team here.

2:08 from a business perspective - Nintendo hypothetically shutting down the Grand Festival/a splatfest would not happen. Why? Player retention and such. Splatfests are a good tactic to encourage players to boot up the game and play it at least once a month, and these boosts to player count help to keep player counts high enough to keep matchmaking and such available. Cancelling the month's Big Monthly Event due to players not meeting a milestone set by the developers would take away this boost to player numbers - and, in the long term, would leave a very sour aftertaste in the mouths of many players. And, let's be real here, there are some parts of the Splatoon community who can be very toxic. And they'd be likely to take this hypothetical 'no big event because milestone was not reached' waaay too seriously - prompting harassment of other players whom they may perceive as 'not pulling their weight', or - even worse from Nintendo's perspective - harassing Nintendo and its employees (like, y'know, the sorts of stuff that would get filtered here) in some messed-up campaign of 'revenge'. However, those reasons aside - remember that the target demographic of Splatoon is, in short, 'everyone' - from the hyper-casuals to the sweaty cephalopod game addicts. Any sort of 'meet this milestone or no casual event' thing would only serve to alienate the casual fans, who would feel themselves obliged to participate in the grinding (which they may not enjoy!) at risk of losing an opportunity for an event they actually enjoy. And, one final reason - it would be very awkward if the players decided to completely reject the whole premise of this event and organized a general strike via plaza posts or something leading to an awkwardly poor final result purely out of spite.

Salmon run equivalent of seal team 6 when

Not really related to the concequences part of the video, but one thing that could make big run look more desperate is letting players in without using their slopsuits and gloopsuits. It would give it a vibe of "I JUST got out of a turf war match, what the carp is happeneing over here?" and could be interesting letting player take their weapons and gear builds into the mode. Like sure you can take your stamper nouveau to the big run, but the splat bombs and specials are still supplied by Grizzco, so you only get to choose the weapon and skin.

One thing i’ve always wondered is, how energy dense are golden power eggs? If they’re all that energy dense, why are zapfish required? Surely they could just use golden eggs to create electricity. Its already explained that regular power eggs are used to power most octarian tech, which suggests that they alone are pretty good as a source of fuel, if they’re powering things like the great octoweapons. Basing it off of the egg cannon explosion, golden eggs don’t seem to contain as much energy as you’d expect, since the explosion isn’t that massive. Even weirder is to think how many salmonids there are. If the 700m golden eggs thing is treated as being a canon, in game event that would mean there are at least 200 and something *million* boss salmonids, over the course of just a few days, while there are dozens of chum, cohocks and smallfry per boss salmonid.

It kinda alteady happened if you consider how in the story mode of 3, the villian is Mr Grizz and all the eggs with collect on Splatoon 2 were used tonfuel his weapon. Sure it didn't had anybplayer input, but could be fun to experiment on the next game. Particually, I would rather have a spin-off where we play as the salmonids. Splatoon became a frnachise huge and popular enough to be able to branch out in more games.

What would be cool is if there was a quota for every big run if we met the quota for the stage that is being overrun, it would be made into a new tri-colour stage and if we failed it wouldn't be added to the next splatfest. Or something like that, there could also be two stages that each have a quota for us to meet and if we met them both there would be two new tri-colour stages added in the next splatfest.

Great thought project! It reminded me of the AR/mobile game "Ingress" where the two teams battled for control of an area by controlling portals and creating fields. Anyway, having to *work* to regain control of a map overrun with salmonids sounds like that. Leave all maps available for local/private games and/or competitive, maybe?

As somebody who plays more Salmon Run than PvP, I say: GIVE US CONSEQUENCES!! I want to be able to feel fear and loss when it comes to the big event of Big Run, which I anticipate more than Splatfests. I want the Salmonids to be a 'threat' to the Inkling society, and see what would happen if they lost. We need more story tie-in (at least in my opinion) i also want a salmonid based story mode please nintendo give us more salmon (don't you dare kill them off i will kill somebody if you did)

I wouldn't mind a Salmon Run-Splatfest hybrid game mode, where you as the player can choose which map will be added in the next update. I think that would make the reward of winning more..rewarding. I know getting Super Sea Snails is nice and all, but I also think it would be cool to give people a little more for being on the winning team.

ok wait i love the idea of letting players pick what stage they want added via big run. im not gonna sugar coat it there are a lotta people who hate the maps in this game, but imagine you get a chance to explore and play with a stage before it gets released and you can decide for yourself which stage you would prefer. such a neat idea.

I've said it before, I'll say it again; we should've gotten Drizzle 2022 Undertow Spillway back after that Big Run (removing the sniping bridges in Turf War was a mistake).

I think the beat way to go about it would be that in the middle of announcing the date for the grand rest, the Big Run gets announced too, and in the same announcement, the date is postponed until the invasion is halted, and THEN if the quota is reached, the real date gets announced. If the invadion is dealt with fast enough, the Grand Festival could go on as originally planned.

so the quota wasn't a problem. we got over 700mil in less than a day. It's been about a day now and we have over 1bil.

I think it would be cool if there was a random chance to see a triumvirate appear in the middle of a splatfest match, and the two teams have to team up to take it down

That would be a bad idea. :/ Imagine if ALL the multiplayer stages got took out by the Salmonoids. Well... "There is no game". :/ We can just put the game somewhere so that he can take the dust and never play it again. That would be very very VEEEERY frustrating. So no, they must and will NOT removing multiplayer stages, except if they invading during a Big Run (and ONLY during a Big Run) or if they going to be rework.

It's an interesting idea you have. The problem is that a lot of work is put into designing stages and to take one out of rotation is enough of a loss I don't think they would allow it, even if it's being used for Salmon Run while out of commission for the rest of the game. Also, some maps are better suited to some weapons and the people that main those weapons, or just the people that enjoy that map even if they are a minority, will be kind of hung out to dry if the stage is left to the salmonids. If the rest of the player base just decides to completely abandon the map and never really try to get the stage back when given the chance it would be seen as a waste by the devs, I'm sure as well as kind of unfair to those that actually enjoy playing the map. I do, really like the ideas you've come up with, i just don't know if it's really all that viable in actual gameplay.

Well... if splatoon 4 involves time travel somehow, both possible stages can be canonized in the game's lifecycle :)

I genuinely think we are going to likely make the quota within the first 10 hours if not sooner like even if there's only a hundred thousand people participating in the big run which is a wildly small number like the game sold like 13 million copies so that would be like such a small number to think would be playing big run but like there are so many people who are going to participate and the average eggs collected are about a hundred for a full winning run, I genuinely think we're going to get this done super quickly, and I really wished the entire time that there was a consequence to not succeeding or reaching a goal, like if we didn't manage to collect enough eggs wahoo world would have been unavailable to be played for 3 weeks for something like that and then when we finally get it back it's going to be like super damaged and changed forever which really would have added to the anarchy feeling, and while I as an adult have specifically put vacation time for this one week where the Grand fest is happening I also know without a shadow of a doubt that if we had a mission objective to actually save the fest I would be so much more excited when or lose and my manager were kind of just have to deal with me being like yeah I need to change my vacation the festival got canceled cuz we failed to save it it's now at a different time and I think that would just be hilarious, other games have things like this like world of Warcraft and stuff where if you don't do a certain amount of objectives the world changes forever and that would be kind of cool for splatoon

If we can lose, I'd throw just to let the Salmonids join in the Grand Festival.

What if quota isn't met, instead of canceling the Splatfest or using another stage, we instead have to deal with the salmonoids on that stage as a gimmick. Like maybe the team that reaches the middle first gets to have a salmonoid boss, like a steel head, or a Stingray on their side or even one of the big three(kinda like when you reach middle first on the mc princess diaries stage from splat2 u get to shoot a killer whail). Or if that's too much, maybe just a regular stage with salmonoids in the background, and once in a while a few cohocks, or small frye appear on stage.

I honestly would love it if salmon run affected the main game mode. My idea for if we fail big run is grandfest gets delayed and either A. Salmon run becomes the only available game mode for a limited time or B. The next game is heavily themed around salmon run with the winner of the grandfest's theme becoming the secondary theming for it.

I honestly was surprised that we couldn’t fail back when big runs were new. I genuinely thought that if we couldn’t beat enough Salmonids as a player collective that wahoo world would be out of commission for a little bit at least. Like when they take out stages for maintenance

If only one third of the playerbase participates in the big run, each player will only have to earn 233 eggs, considering even the lowest rank players only get around 30 eggs a round, this won’t be very hard

Considering the ending of the story for this game (3) Grizzco might already have an affect on the next story mode, in some way, since at the end of the story Grizz is left in space and Lil judd takes over Grizzco it raised a few questions, like why is lil judd the one that takes over? what is he going to do with the power eggs? will he do something against Judd since its known lil judd doesn't like big judd Also does Grizzco have any stake in this splatfest? If i remember right wasn't grizzco neutral in the s2 final fest?
