In this video, I explore the question What if Funk and Metal had a baby? When combining some of my favorite funk licks with a heavy metal approach, I feel like it lies somewhere between Primus and Tool. Also got some feedback that this sounds like something Called Groove metal. Never heard of Groove Metal before, so LMK if you agree with that! Thanks for watching :-)

Not much music theory training yet but I have written a bit for metal and noticed that funk definitely an influence. Very cool. Always good to see new work.

Yeah, Groove Metal was a huge thing when I was younger. This doesn't sound like the old groove metal, but it does have the same vibe of crunchy riffs that you can dance to (as oppsed to dance metal which takes rave era dance music production values to metal and is not actually very danceable). Your licks are very tasty.

Okay now I’m kind of becoming miffed with how many people are saying this!! I never said I was the first one to do it!! Just trying to explore the genre :-)
