WHAT IF...? is about to make my mind EXPLODE 

Doing the Star-Lord voice work was one of the last things Chadwick Boseman did before he passed away in 2020. In 2022, he posthumously won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for the What If...? episode What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord? at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Watcher is a character that first appeared in The Fantastic Four comic series in the early 60s. He is part of an alien race which watches and records the goings on of civilizations throughout the galaxy, but never intervenes. This particular watcher's name is Uatu and he is the watcher for Earth.

Since you're doing What If and continuing the multiverse stuff, I've got to recommend the animated Spider-Man movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. It explores the idea of Spider-Men in the multiverse, and it's a great way to get to know Miles Morales as a character. I know you kind of know him already because you're playing the Insomiac Spiderman game, but Into the Spider-Verse is a movie where Miles really flourishes as a character. The animation style is also just gorgeous to look at. It's so much fun, and I think it'd make for a great reaction 🙂

The whole What If concept is a crazy awesome way for writers to have fun and go nuts with random ideas without being slaves to canon, and both seasons of the animated series did a great job portraying that "okay, we know this was a serious story, but let's get a little *wacky* and see where that takes us" vibe. Enjoy the ride!

Honestly, don't skip anything in the MCU. There are movies/shows that are better or worse than others, but that was already the case in phases 1 & 2. Mainly there are movies/shows that talk much less to some but are very appreciated by others. But only you will know which one you'll love most. So yeah, not all 10/10, but no skippable, just much more variety and different flavor for different people.

Knowing the Ashleigh we know from this channel, how were people out there telling her to skip "What if..." bc she wouldn't like it? Just for Captain Carter it's worth of her watching it. It's right up her alley!

Young Howard Stark mentioned Hedy Lamarr, she was a glamorous actress and model, one of the classic dark-haired beauties of the era, BUT she was also an inventor, and her work provided the backbone for modern WiFi. So having Howard spend time with her wasn't just a pop culture reference to help place the story in a specific time period, it also makes total sense that Howard would be canoodling with someone who's gorgeous AND brilliant.

"I never knew I needed this" is basically the tag line of the What If... comics line.

Agent Carter as a super-soldier is even more badass considering that Peggy was perfectly trained, healthy, skilled professional AND had a full serum treatment unlike Steve. Stopping and throwing a truck with a bunch of armed enemies around is kinda showing it 🤣

Howard Stark makes references to Hedy Lamarr. Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian-born actress which became huge in European cinema and moved to Hollywood. Besides acting, she was also an inventor. She revolutionized concepts such as frequency hopping to created secure, encrypted radio communications and defeat guidance jamming.

9:01, Fun fact Hedy Lamar was well known film star in the 1940's. But she was also a very talented inventor. Some of her early work went into things that we still use today. So Howard Stark and Hedy hanging out could have just been a meeting of colleagues.

Captain Britain is a different character who has not debuted in the MCU yet (Henry Cavill has shown interest). Since he's connected to Arthurian myth, they chose to call Carter something different, to prevent future confusion Union jack is also a Marvel character, who usually fights alongside Captain Britain. Comics get convoluted

Captain Carter didn't get to be called "Captain Britain" or "union Jack" because Marvel already has characters with those names they presumably have plans for and didn't want to muddy the waters

First of all, I can't believe that people were saying you wouldn't like it. I feel like those people don't watch enough of your videos it's a really good at good feel. I felt like this was going to be a slam dunk. Second, if you like Coulson and we're sad to see him go out so early, you need to check out Agents of Shield. It's not officially considered MCU Prime Timeline Cannon, but with the addition of the Multiverse, you could call it What if...Coulson survived

Before you watch Deadpool 2, you should watch the film "Logan"

The Watchers started out helping and elevating other civilizations but one time they effed up so bad they vowed never to interfere again. They observe all of the cosmos, but there’s one assigned specifically to Earth, the Florida of the universe.

Since she loves Colson maybe she should watch Agents of Sheild, it was good for the first few seasons.

The Watcher and He Who Remains are two different beings. The Watcher is neutral, supposedly never taking actions- only observing and recording.

I liked the shoutout to Hedy Lamarr in ep 1. She was famous for being an actress, but she was also an inventor. She invented frequency hopping which allowed the military to secure their communications and is also the basis for today's wireless communications. Also, it's Howard The Duck. Also also, the voice actress for the character that shot Thanos in ep 2 is the same actress that portrayed that same character in the Guardians of the Galaxy. They brought her back for her one line.

I think that you already watched Guardians 2. When they went through the gate, and saw all those brief scenes, ONE of them was the Watchers interviewing Stan Lee (on an asteroid, I think), and he was recounting all of his "lifes" (cameos). Saying something like "and this one time I was delivering a package..."

The Watcher is in the Stan Lee cameo scene in Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2. Big headed dudes. Side note: There is an online fan theory that the cameos that Stan Lee has in every Marvel movie, even those before the MCU, is Stan actually portraying the Watcher observing the Marvel heroes across time and the multiverse. It's why he looks the same and no one recognizes him and he is always near every superhero.

I hate the people that say not to watch a show / movie for whatever reason. Not to mention the people who tell you that you will like or hate something. Let each person watch and decide for themselves whether they like it or not. Isn't that the point of reaction channels? Letting people BLIND watch something so that we, the viewers, can watch and see what they think? Stop trying to influence their experience and let it happen naturally.

Tony Stark making the Hedy Lamarr reference has more significance than a lot of people know. Hedy was an Austrian-born American actress in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. She was very beautiful (a mirror of Tony Stark's/Steve Rodgers' handsomeness). Hedy also came up the the concept for "frequency hopping" to keep radio guided torpedoes from being jammed. The Navy turned down the idea, and suggested she sell war bonds for the WW2 effort. Today, her frequency hopping has helped make WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth possible.

First off I am SO glad that you are reacting to this since so many MCU reactors skip this series and it is SO good! You will be glad you watched it to be sure! There were some amazing stories in the What If comic books over the years, and although these don't seem to really pull from any of those stories, it is still a really good show. Also although I know you would not have time to watch it for streaming with all you do already (although I would totally watch every single one if you did), since you are a big fan of Phil Coulson, you might want to check out Agents of Shield if and when time permits (but don't want to say anything more and give away any spoilers). 😁

Uatu, the Watcher, is a completely different character than He Who Remains. Uatu is a member of a cosmic species who have pledged to watch, never interfere with, the universes. They tend to show up at moments of monumental significance. It should also be noted that Uatu is notorious as being one who in the comics tends to break his race's non-interference credo a lot. Basically, he seems like it's a "I am sworn to not interfere, so I'm going to interfere now". As with every video of yours, I recommend the movie Imagine Me & You, as well as Zsazsa Zaturnnah.

The Watcher is apart of a race called The Watchers. We were giving a glimpse of some in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 in Stan Lee’s cameo. This was a nod to the fan theory that Stan Lee was a watcher. The Watchers have individual names and this one is known as Uatu. Can’t really tell too much about him without spoiling any possible future stuff. This series is similar to the comics where they take certain story lines and change those stories to get a totally different version. This is totally setting up the multiverse.

Episode 3 was wild! 24:19 Yes they've had a very close brother/sister type relationship. At least in the comics.

the starlord/black panther what if... Um... ashley at the end when Peter Quil meets his dad, the implication is the universes destruction.... cause if you remember Peter was the trigger for the seeds for peters dad to make every planet into "him" and his big plan was to become EVERY planet across the universe.

I have no idea who said you wouldn't like it but I'm guessing those are just people who didn't like it themselves and they were trying to make you skip it. I had no idea there were people that didn't like it.

Sadly, this series was the final appearance of Chadwick Bozeman as Black Panther. That's why they had the in memoriam. He told Disney about his cancer so they could prepare, but kept it secret from the public.

I'm SO glad you are into alternate realities! I don't know if you ever watched the series "Smallville." but I wrote several alternate versions of Smallville. My most elaborate was one I tried pitching to the people making Smallville -- what if Jor-El had a daughter. Would the love of a good (Super) woman (Clara Kent) have been enough to save Lex Luthor? Same plots, same sets, same guest stars, but a woman easily solving issues that Clark struggled with.

There was a (male) Captain Btiiain in Marvel comics, but I don't think there are any plans to revive him for the MCU, He was mainly a British Version of Captain America, but his origin story was different. A dog was the first mammal in space (Laika on Sputnik 2) but she didn't have a doggy spacesuit. They had no way to bring her back and she died when her air supply ran out.

You might want to watch Logan before Deadpool 2. There are some Logan references at the beginning. Plus Logan is a great movie.

The collector is one of the elders of the universe and he's always been the collector, he has a very nice collection of the most powerful artifacts through out time, he really can't fight for nothing but he's got stuff

We have seen the Watchers briefly during "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2", the group of aliens Stan Lee was telling his stories to when Rocket and Yondu were jumping to Ego's planet. During the after credit scene they left Stan sitting there.

The Watcher in this series is not the one from Loki." This Watcher is known in the comics as Uata. He is a member of a race of extraterrestrials whose mission is to observe other lifeforms across the galaxies and realities. The only thing Watchers is not to do is to get involved or intervene. You saw a group of them in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2" where Stan Lee is their informant.

Oh it's never used before or since in the MCU but when Hank Pym called Thor "Goldilocks" that's a common nick name for Thor in the comics also "Web-Head" (Spider-Man), "Horn-Head" (Daredevil), "Shell-Head" (Iron Man), "Wing-Head" (Captain America), "Salad Head" (Hulk), and "Bucket-Head" (Nova)

Since you liked Captain Carter, you should try the “Agent Carter” tv show. It ran for 18 episodes showing what Peggy was doing in the 50s with Howard Stark and Jarvis. The actor who played Jarvis had a cameo in Avengers Endgame when Tony went back to the 70s.

This is a great series. I have been a fan of What If...? since by older brother collected the original comic books when I was a kid.

Not He Who Remains. Do you remember the Stan Lee cameo in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2? He's in a space suit talking to some tall bald guys about all his cameos - those are the Watchers. Stan is apparently their agent. The Watcher here is a particular one known as Uatu.

What if? Is also a comics series by marvel, with generally one shot comics issues exploring the same sort of situations as you see here. Occasionally some of these would be expanded to mini series, and even regular series! DC has a similar concept called Elseworlds.
