Earth is the only life-supporting planet in our Solar System. Until now. Today, we're bringing Kepler 22-b into our planetary neighborhood. Where would this planet need to orbit within the Sun’s habitable zone? How would you go visit it? And would you find life when you get there?

Kepler-22b is located 600 light-years away. While the planet is larger than Earth, its orbit of 290 days around a sun-like star resembles that of our world. The planet's host star belongs to the same class as our sun, called G-type, although it is slightly smaller and cooler.

we cannot survive on a larger rocky planet as the core is bigger meaning stronger magnetic field which would lead to much stronger gravity therefore immensely shrinking us or just fully crushing us. oh and also more air which means MUCH bigger creatures. normal house spiders would be the size of like a dog

Its more likely that instead of collision, Earth will get captured as a moon of Kepler 22-b if it was heading towards Earth. Because gravity is not the only player, both planet's electromagnetic forces will also interact with each other, making capture into orbit more likely. Also both planet's strength of gravity will change as a result of changes in planet's charge as gravity is not entirely due to mass of planet.

Speaking of life, I was thinking, life could be on any planet that has a solid ground because aliens could have completely different needs for life, they could need 2x the sunlight or half the sunlight we need, and for water and food they might not even need that stuff to survive. Just sharing a thought.
@alvincantmiss
@alvincantmiss Год назад
Definitely true, i believe we all don't have the same life forms.. like probably there's a world that has Aliens 10x huge our bodies, probably others very small, others maybe they crawl and not walk, some also might ne flying instead of walking and running, some maybe don't need to breath so as to live. I really have many scenarios of how other worlds might look like

well considering that Kepler 22b is larger than earth that means its gravity would be much stronger than earth so it wouldn't be Kepler 22b falling toward earth but rather earth falling toward Kepler 22b, the large gravity would also cause some problems with astronauts and spacecraft because some spacecraft wouldn't be able to get off the ground and there would be a lot of downward pressure on the bodies of the astronauts, luckily though the human body can adapt to those conditions in time
