What if my friend is suicidal?
If you're struggling with thoughts of suicide, please seek help right away. In the US, you can call or text 988. Outside the US, you can visit Find a Helpline dot com to access local resources.
If your friend is thinking about or discussing suicide, TALK TO THEM. Talking to someone about suicide doesn’t mean that you’re encouraging them to make that choice. They may be relieved that they can finally confide in someone. And you don’t need to have all the answers.
The Bible doesn't discuss suicide very often, and it doesn't list signs to watch for in a potentially suicidal person. What it DOES talk about is God's intense love for ALL life--how much He values it and how much He values YOU. Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that we can approach God’s throne and receive mercy, grace, and help when we need it.
