Ok, i'm gonna be that guy: The call of 'End of Watch' is a real-world event after a police officer dies (usually in the line of duty) or when they retire. Great synopsis! Been watching a lot of ScreenCrush lately

End of Watch Call The "End of Watch" call is the final radio call to the fallen officer from dispatch. In Milwaukee, the final call usually occurs after an officer's funeral and before the procession to the cemetery. A dispatcher requests the fallen officer by name and squad number. After a period of silence, the dispatcher will repeat the call once or twice more. Upon hearing no response, the dispatcher will offer a tribute to the fallen officer and conclude by saying: "We have the watch from here."

@screencrush the term "End of Watch" is a memorial term used for any on duty officer who dies in the line of duty and this is the "end of their watch" to protect the public.

"End of Watch" is always broadcast over the radio at any police officer or fire fighter's funeral, especially those killed in the line of duty. Nova Corps is essentially the police force of Xandar, thus the tradition is followed here as well. The corrupt members of the Corps may also be attempting to make it look like Nebula was killed by a common criminal.

Its amazing how quickly its entered the collective memory, the tradition is only just over 20 years old and was begun after the book A Song of Ice and Fire was released in 1996. The concept in the book is based on the 42nd Regiment of Foot known as the Black Watch which had its origin in ten independent highland militia companies formed to protect the English/Scottish border regions from Jacobite rebels.

So glad to see the vindication of Howard the Duck. He has always been one of my favorite characters. I don't know if his image can be repaired enough that we get an MCU Howard movie, but maybe they can do a live action series. It couldn't be worse than Secret Invasion!

One problem with the story. The arrow is supposed to be practically indestructible. There is no way that it should have been broken so easily. I am surprised that wasn't mentioned.

So was Thor’s hammer but Hela broke it into pieces without any real explanation besides a brief montage of her wielding it in battle alongside Odin. They didn’t have time in 30 mins to hash out the details but we got the jist.

End of watch is actually a phrase police officers use when a cop dies in the line of duty. This is a stretch but it could also be a nod to the movie "end of watch" with jake gyllenhall and michael peña play l.a. police officers. Of course those guys played mysterio and luis in the mcu respectively.

"End of watch" is what police say over the radio after an officer's final shift. They use it when an officer retires, the dispatcher will say it at the end of that officer's shift to signify they're signing off for the final time. But here it is pretty likely a reference to when they use it symbolically when an officer dies in the line of duty. They'll use that sign off to honor them at their funeral.

The distinct lack of cigarettes or vapes made it so funny to me. Noir for kids, and it still worked and even had body horror and felt gorey or visceral as she takes so much violence

My family and I had to pause the episode to look up who the heck Yon Rogg was! It would have helped if the animation of the character looked more like Jude Law. I only guessed who it was because the accent and voice sounded familiar. When Nebula said she needed someone to break into the place, I thought it would be Rocket, or maybe John Reilly's cop character, so when it's revealed it's Yon Rogg, we all went WHO? Other than that, I loved the Blade Runner ambiance and film noir feel.

As I opined in NR's breakdown, I love the episode (I love how the MCU went with Nebula's character) but I have a major problem with its depiction of the Nova Corp itself. They're supposedly looking to bring in THE Nova (whether it be Rich Rider or Sam Alexander - also both faves of mine) but those two are rocking the NOVA FORCE. Actual powered beings. The Nova Corp as it's been presented in the MCU are literally just ordinary space cops...
