What if Sonic The Hedgehog was in Dragonball Z? Sonicball Z 

I love the crossover of these franchises. My absolute favorite Dragon Ball what if is Damon What If's Sonic and DB crossover.

I think I would have changed some roles in this. First of all, I would have had Espio as Tenshinhan. Both are stoic masters of Martial Arts who are incredibly devoted to their skills. They both have a one-on-one matchup in a Fighting Tournament (23rd Budokai and Sonic the Fighters) They also have abilities that help to not be seen by any individual (Espio's Chameleon traits which makes him camouflaged and Ten's Taiyoken which blind's one sight . I think Gamma and Blaze had another roles waiting for him. Charmy should've been Chazou because c'mon, Espio and Sonic are speed types, Charmy and Tails are flight types. Oh yeah, Charmy and Chaozu have the advantage of flight back in the day (Only with Charmy, he was just way more OP) and it would be cool if Charmy was a one-time rival against Tails. He's just perfect for his role in the 22nd tournament. Also in the movies and archie comics, both of them were actually princes in their respective alternate universe. Big would be Yajirobe. Why? Both are comedic-relief characters who the protagonist randomly meet during a fight (If i am correct for Big) and are unsuspecting threats with wielded weapons. While having a BIG physique, they are very impressive and are able to keep up with the rest, surprising the protagonist when showing their display of power. One contrast is their personality altogether which is quite funny but oh yeah, both of them are fishermen and can usually be found in the wild jungle. They also aid the protagonist in fighting a giant transformed threat. The connections between E-102 Gamma and Android 16 are that they are robots created by evil geniuses (Dr. Eggman and Dr. Gero) for their most popular series of mechanical fighters (E-Series and Androids) to bring world domination and getting their vengeance of the spikey haired main protagonist that ruined their plans (Sonic and Goku). Despite being built for combat, both are hardly seen fighting in their respective series, as both of them would find a great curiosity for the life of living beings, and eventually turned to the side of good. When changing their side of morality, they would go on to help the heroes to prevent the antagonists of their stories conquer/destroy the world. Even though they contrast as to how their actions involving their mechanical siblings are (Android 16 being allies and always fought beside Android’s 17 and 18, whereas E-102 Gamma having turned on E-101, E-103, E-104 and E-105 to free their captured animals), both would give it their all by going solo to defeat the ones created to be superior to them (E-101 Alpha Mk. II and Cell, respectfully), eventually being put out of commission because of them. It was because of their influences as characters that not only proves that even robots have souls in them, but their actions also helped one of the most looked down upon characters become stronger as they continue with their own adventures (E-102 Gamma with Amy, allowing her to become more independent and actually fight alongside Sonic & Co., and Android 16 with Gohan, who’s death enraged him to become stronger to save the world).

Sonic and The Journey to the West! Dragon Ball is filled to the brim with Journey to the West references, Chinese Mythology and Religion. So I'm pleased with your mention of the Storybook games.

Storybook 1: Sonic and the Secret Rings Storybook 2: Sonic and the Black Knight Storybook 3: Sonic and the Eternal Dragon EDIT: if keeping to the classic structure of the storybook series, Bulma could've just been kept the same, given that she technically would be filling the role of Shahra and Merlina. She even ends her name in an A!

Oolong could be the "we're in love" guy from SA1. Freeza's dad would fit Black Doom , he had absolute authority the whole time. And if Shadow is on his side , I think I know who Freeza is going to be.

This feels less like a what if and more of just putting the sonic characters in the place of dragon ball characters and then changing them slightly to fit in with the original story. which makes it kinda boring since none of the main events change much besides the people in them and some of the characters used don’t match their comparisons at all or have very little similarities so they feel forced into the role of that character. The sonic characters personalities being changed to be like the dragon ball characters makes them boring and generic and as such they don’t feel like themselves which is kind of the point of crossover what if’s where you have two different franchises put together into one big story but the characters shouldn’t get completely replaced otherwise they lose their uniqueness. Damon what if was pretty good at combining both franchise’s stories together without being a one to one retread of either of them as well as the characters acting like themselves which allows for interesting dynamics and interactions. I think a sonic what if in the style of the storybook games would be a cool idea as I don’t think l’ve seen it done before. Having sonic get transported into a different world and have to team up with similar yet different versions of his friends like in secret rings or black knight is a really awesome and interesting concept for a what if to do. Have him be sent into the journey to the west book and have him fight alongside the characters from the story with his friends taking the roles of some of the important characters that were involved with the book’s plot.

I do love this. because I'm also trying to do something between Sonic and Dragonball. Except What I'm attympting to do is what I like to call a complimentary Trippette where I merely make up new charecter and a new universe that simple has paralels to the other 2. Also your right about how many people would normaly do Amy with Chichi and Sally with Bulma, because Bulma and Sally are super smart and Amy and Chichi are known for being powerful when angered. However I also understand the idea of how Bulma almost got with Goku and also I understand that Amy and Bulma have simularietes too. Their hair colors are pastle their out going ,full of spirit and both in search of someone special. Chichi and Amy are closer magic wise, if you consider MasakoX's what Chichi was Z fighter and Amy with her terrakota cards. Still I agree with your choices there. Howeever I am curios now because I always wonderd what if Goku was given the Sonic Undeground treatments here you got both versions of Manek. I'd love to see Sonia be brought in somehow too~ The way you explained Shadow makes alot of since. I've been wondering myself how one would fuse Vegeta and Shadow. My own ideas are abit differant but still pretty simular as you idea of the hedgehogs being subdigated by the Black Arms makes perfect since. You forgot the Red Ribbon Army however. which I felt was a missed oppertunity to bring in the Egg Squad. Knack the weasle makes since too. but I did conisder Scratch and Grounder and a female version of coconuts. However I like the idea that you went for a diffent group of scewballs and still include a certain female chasrecter. Tangle the Lemur struck me as Odd though as well as who you chose to replace Kami. I thought you would have used Tikal in some way, but Knuckle's Dad makes since to me. Now when I say I considerr certain sonic charecters, I ofcourse would not actualy be replacing with but rather looking between the differant parralels. and the thing is..there are so many differant parrelels to draw that iT JUST MADE more since to me to not draw from a single paralel but all of them and even look for some new parrelels to creat for the Tripplete I'm building. Right now I'm merely working on a concept because the idea I came up with might evolve beyond just being based on Sonic and Dragon Ball. I just want people to draw and make the comparisons but that doesn't meen it can't be allowed to go beyong being a coppy. That's why it's called Complimentory because that's what it's meant to do is to compliment it's insporation. I don't have any advice though realy since I'm trying to keep my ideas to myself for the sake of the story. I'm more excited to see what you come up with ^^ even though the Tangle as King Kai one is an odd one I like where you went with the idea regardless ,it's clever. However I personaly see Blaze as the Kaulifla to Sonic's Goku. Because canonicly Goku and Kaulifla are supposed to be alternate versions of one another and the same for Sonic and Blaze. I know it's weird but it's cannon. However where you placed her does make some since. Personaly I draw comparisons between her and Knuckles. Fun fact though Ever notice...Dragon Ball and Sonic both have purple cats? Big, Blaze, Champa? Beerus? I'[m not saying Blaze and Champa would ever be those 2 but erather I just notice purple cats exist in both fracnhies. enteresting isn't it?

Is there a reason that you had Black Oak instead of E-123 Omega? I think he would fit quite well and Black Oak is quite frankly boring. Alternatively you could've substituted E-102 Gamma, but E-102 Gamma needs love too.

Look, i know you're trying to make this sound like dragon ball z and i get but, none of them (besides Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow) actually makes sense. I mean forst of all, you have to remember that besides both Amy and Bulma looking for their "soul mate" that's literally the only thing they both have in common with each other. Bulma is more technology advanced, doesn't like to get her hands dirty, wasn't that nice of a person when she first appeared on screen, especially towards Goku and she isn't exactly willing to help people at all. That's the complete opposite of Amy. In fact that sounds a lot more like Rouge than anything. Tails...meh i mean yeah him and Krillin are both the best friends of the main character except Krillin was a lot more of a douche more ways than one. Sally, meh doesn't make sense for her to be here at all. Especially since she's not the type of person to wonder off into the wilderness. On top of that Chi Chi is more aggressive and is more love struck than Sally is too. She actually kind of pursues Goku unlike Sally pursuing Sonic. Amy pursues Sonic in fact but you don't exactly see her too much until adventure. The same with Chi Chi. You see her a few times but you don't see her again until the world martial arts tournament (can't remember the number to be honest) Also, remember how Amy sees the good in everyone? Yeah, Bulma doesn't and usually tries to find cover when a fight is about to break out. Amy doesn't do that at all. As for Emperor Pilaf and the Pilaf gang, you could use Bark, Bean, and Fang to be honest 😕 and you could use Honey the Cat as Launch as they are both quirky but of course both become forgotten. I know this criticism sounds harsh but sometimes we need that criticism or else we would neveresrn from our mistakes and grow from it.

Why use the SATAM and anime characters at all, i get it but Sega themselves want to leave them in the background for now and most aren't owned by Sega at all so it's better to stick with the games in my opinion. And trying to be sticking with characters of the same gender doesn't have to be a rule. It works well to like: Espio and Charmy as Tein and Chiaotzu as they were friends before meeting Vector. Fang, Bean and Bark work better as the Pilaf gang as they are actually a gang and honey can easily be Launch as they are quirky characters and were both forgotten. Yamcha and Prar can be Mighty and Ray And so on, I will likely reply to my own comment with more
