Mavs depth isn't going to win the series, they aren't that deep and Kidd just recently finally woke up to the fact that Timmy just isn't going to do anything for you and threw Hardy(whom he should have been grooming to be ready) out there just to see what happens. It's a bit much to put on his shoulders. But I do agree that Maxi might be the X-Factor to win the series. If KP is hitting 3s then you might see him finishing the games at 5(Something Kidd has done a lot of in fact). Maxi also usually have a couple games a series where he goes off on the 3. Thats when we go 5out to their 5out. It's still gonna be tough. But I'll take Luka and Kyrie over Brown and Tatum driving to a open lane any day.

I think the rotations will be short and I wouldn't be surprised if Luka plays 48 minutes :D But I do trust the Mavs bench more than the Celtics bench. If the Celtic switch every pick and roll, guys like Payton Prichard should be borderline unplayable. For the Mavs on the other hand I feel like Josh Green and Dante Exum can always come in and just play with full force for a couple of minutes. They might struggle offensively, but they can offset it with defense and hustle plays.

@@fruitproof115 Yeah they do have a deeper bench. If Hardy can give you some of what Timmy was supposed too, than it's gonna be a big bonus. It actually then makes them a deep team. As Kyrie would be the Point with Hardy, Green, Maxi and Lively. I might have been wrong in stating so emphatically that the poster was wrong about the bench winning it. While it's still true they won't, they can be the x-factor. Payton is their good bench player(with Hortford also being good if KP is starting) but I don't know much else about what they got. their stats isn't impressive.

Bottom line is that the Mavs have many excuses(Boston being favored/Home Court/Best Record/Better Team) being just some of them. While Boston has 0 excuse. (Well the only one they can use is one they don't want too and that is Luka's the best player on the court) So this will either galvanize Boston, or if hit with adversity they don't know how to react too, Send their butts packing for Cancun. Sure it's a good thing to have the confidence that you are the best. But the mavs are used to getting punched in the mouth and punching back. How is Boston going to handle their inner confidence being shook. That's gonna be the key to the whole series.

I keep coming back to Mavs in 5. I think it depends on KP health and Mavs role players being able to produce enough collectively against good defensive players. On the flip side I can see 2022 WCF vibes...role players shrink in the moment and can't hit open shots.

I think if we can somehow limit their 3s and their efficiency, we can win. But everyone has to be on the same page. Don't get discouraged if we lose game 1 by a lot. It happened twice. Twolves weren't a great offensive team thats why they were easy work. But this celtics are so game 1 will probably go celtics. But I'm confident they can split 1-1. Then go up 3-1. Then either 5 or 6 the mavs get it done

"Maxi makes a difference" well said Dana. The fact that he holds opposing shooters to 29% when expected shots are 49%, and he has the 2nd biggest discrepancy in the postseason there, means a TON going forward into this series cuz we're worried bout shooting. It's the little things that will make all the difference. Like Luka being the best player not Tatum. Like lively getting boards and shutting down the paint. Lively vs Porzingis low-key best matchup to watch besides Luka Tatum and Kyrie brown. I'm soooo excited and trust our bench and stars and coaches to perform well. This team is literally destined for greatness dude I can see a dynasty starting here. We're young, we're hungry, Lukas in his prime, and we have an x factor, a killer instinct, and a brotherly vibe that I've never seen before in the Mavs and I believe! To be honest, I really NEED this game 1 to happen so I can have a SLIGHT IDEA of what to expect. It's been really hard not to keep going back to that march 1st game when the Celtics blew the Mavs out of a spur after it started raining 3s with insane ball movement and it looked like there was no defense whatsoever, a 10-pt lead became almost 30 in a blink and garbage time squad was in with over 4 minutes to go. I guess giving up is not an option in the finals no matter how bad it might look at a given point, but it's very tense to wonder what the defensive strat is gonna look like without seeing any action.

Celtics have been hella vulnerable at home during playoffs for 3 seasons running and even should have lost more. They didn't so much beat the Pacers in Game 1 as Pacers gave it to them in what had to be the most tragic ending for a Pacers game in many years. Get 'em, Mavs! Game 1, get 'em!

Nick you completely misinterpreted that clutch stat. The reason that most of the Celtics losses were in the clutch is because they are really hard to beat and very rarely blown out. @@cvgodd1432 that’s not even remotely close to true, his on ball defense was pretty solid. And lite top 10 all time finals debut in scoring. They definitely shut him down when it came to play making though 🤷🏼‍♂️. Didn’t think it could be done, but they did. Theres a reason nobody else is going to say anything here though. Fun fact. Luka averages the most points in NBA history after a loss. Mavs have lost 5 games this post season and zero back to back. If you’re a betting man I’d take the over on Luka Sunday 😂

We need to make Porzingiz play as he was in Dallas... Frantic, cause he gets nervious if he don't make shots so the Defense got to be on top. Fast and with flow just as the offense NEVER stagnet and dinamic, lots of cuts will make openings for us. Lively's defense will be key

it was hard for KP not to be stagnant, when one player is holding the ball for 20 secs, gets doubled at bad iso play & only then passes the ball to someone as a last resort. Or just coach puts you on 3pt line in the corner.. Mavs fans can drink the cool aid but Game one will be a hard reality check. Ok. Let's be a little realistic. In my opinion I give Boston 2 wins automatically: one win I give them, bcs they are gonna have one night, that they are gonna shoot threes in a very high percentage and the Mavs are not gonna be able to do anything;second win I give to the Celtics, bcs of free throw percentage - there's gonna be one game that Mavs are gonna lose bcs of worse free throw shooting during whole game, or in the clutch. I give Mavs one win automatically, bcs of Luka and Kyrie in the clutch. Overall I feel it's gonna be who desires it more, my prediction it's 7 games where it's 50:50.

Just like we experienced in the Thunder series - Mavs have to weather the storms when 3s start falling for Boston. If they hit 65% as a team, hats off. But odds are those 3s won't fall all game and we've seen the Mavs claw their way back with defense, lobs and tough 2s. The pressure of the finals should impact Boston's 3pt efficiency somewhat. Fr. Okc really is the perfect comp. Understandable that the only similarities they have were 3pt shooting and bigs who can shoot. But the thing is they don't have Lu Dort. Before you say Holiday, Luka and Kyrie can handle holiday and white. Holiday won't go the same route as Lu Dork by tackling and fouling him.all the time. In the Playoffs the Celtics made 14.6 3-pointers on 36.8% and Mavs made 12.6 on 37.2%. So they made 2 3-pointers per game more then the Mavs. Maybe we worry too much. It's 6 point difference that can easily be compensated with other areas of the game like rebounding, steals, fast break points etc etc or just having the best player on the court.

For Mavs in 5 and Boston in 5 these are the most likely scenarios for me: Boston in 5, if the Mavs just cannot figure out Bostons offense. There normal defensive gameplan doesn't work because everyone is hitting 3s. They start overreacting by switching every pick and roll and then you have Gaff on an island against Jrue Holiday. Now the Mavs overreact even more and stop playing Gaff and Lively all together and start rolling with PJ and Maxi at the 5. In the end, it all doesn't work and Boston is consistently scoring too many points to overcome. Mavs in 5, if the Mavs defense is working really well with good rotations and strong closeouts and the Boston offense is not as sharp as in the regular season with guys being exhausted because of heavy minutes and the high level of physicality in this series. Every game is a coin flip, every game comes down to the last posessions, and here the Mavs just have a bit more experience and the two best closers in Luka and Kyrie.

Celtics don’t have anyone to match the physicality of Gafford and Lively. Their defense is overrated. They can’t even contain Nembhard and almost lost. The swing factor is obviously 3s. That’s the only way Celtics can win. If they don’t get good quality 3s and they don’t fall like they used to especially during pressure moments, they’re not winning this series.
