Hat Kid’s one of my personal wants in Smash, so thanks for covering her, this is moveset was pretty much perfect! I especially love the Hat Switching mechanic.
8:17 I'm kind of surprised you didn't give the Queen Vanessa Spirit Battle a green Princess Peach, since she wore a green dress (and looked almost identical) before her fall to madness. Also, 8:57 total missed opportunity to have Black/Meta Knight Kirby being the Snatcher Spirit Battle, and he'd start off copying Hat Kid. Also, imho, I would have made Hat Kid's Final Smash be a cinematic one. After she throws down her Time Piece ball, opponents hit by the attack are treated to a cinematic where they end up spaced, just outside of Hat Kid's spaceship. She hops into the captain's chair, throws the throttle, and rams her ship through the opponents. Also, would it be better for Bow Kid to be an alt. costume for Hat Kid, or as an Echo Fighter? Would she have her own unique hats and masks compared to Hat Kid? Same with taunts? Great video!
but usually final smashes are a reference to source material right? Hat kid is NEVER shown to ram someone with a space ship, however maybe, in reference to the end of the game, hat kid sweeps the opponent off of the ship with a comically large broom?
Man, cool, such a badass video, as well as even your Castle Crashers one, which is god tier! If you can, next, please make a moveset for Arizona the Cow from Them's Fightin Herds.
I think I have an idea on how the Time Stop Hat could also work in Smash Ultimate, instead of Hat Kid slowing down, she would speed up! In A Hat in Time, what the Time Stop Hat does is self explanatory, it slows down time, but only to Hat Kid, meaning whenever you use this thing, in realtime you're moving as fast as Sonic! And before you say it's OP, just like in the game, the effect will only last 4 seconds and 16 milliseconds and will be the only hat with a recharge (again lasting 4 seconds).
Honestly, this is a great moveset. Only thing I can’t see being advantageous is slowing yourself down with the Time Stop Hat. It could either work more like a counter where if activated before getting hit, should slow the opponent down briefly (like Witch Time) or have it so, once activated, briefly slows everyone but Hat Kid down (like in A Hat in Time) but after use, it has a very long cool-down so it can’t be abused.
I had this small idea that since The Announcer has the same VA as The Conductor that there could be 2 versions of him yelling her name. One would be a normal version like all the other fighters. The other would be him yelling her name in his voice as a nice reference!
DUDE. This just gave me soooo much hope! As much as I want Hat Kid in smash. It is super far fetched but It sure would help the game get recognition and ensure the smash audience a very fun character!
This video was really cool! The only thing I would change slightly (other than Vanessa being a green alt Peach like another comment said) is Snatcher’s Spirit Battle. Instead of Mr. Game and Watch, I would have him represented by Joker as both have quite a few darkness based attacks, though with a slight twist as, instead of the default or purple alt like you would expect, Joker is in his Crow alt to represent the Prince while *Arsene* is the one representing Snatcher. This would be referenced by Joker immediately summoning Arsene after he loses at least 150 stamina regardless of whether or not the meter is full, which would also indirectly reference the second phase of Snatcher’s AHIT boss fight where he gets more aggressive with his attacks, as summoning Arsene gives Joker a power boost until Arsene retreats. I would also put a condition where reinforcements appear after a while, that being another Crow alt Joker appearing only after Joker has lost at least 150 stamina to represent the dual Snatcher attack in the AHIT fight’s second phase, though you only need to defeat the original to win. If the player doesn’t have Joker’s DLC, Snatcher would instead be represented by a purple alt Dark Pit with a red alt Pit appearing as the reinforcement to represent the Prince.
All the hat effects would definitely need cooldowns, which might make Hat Kid flash briefly when she’s able to use one again, and if you open the down B menu, you can see the same cooldown meters that are next to Hat Kid in the original game, just over each hat respectively, or alternatively one cooldown by her name and % that applies to all of the hats, which is how the hats are balanced in A Hat in Time.
I saw this video in my recommended and immediately flipped my shit for approximately 5 seconds and proceeded to very agressively click on it so I can listen to someone talk about why a hat in time good and hat child go in smash please. I am very excited to watch this to say the least :0 EDIT: the video was very good, the fact that snatcher would be represented by Mr game n watch made me laugh but then I realized that it's probably the best choice lmao. Also I had an idea for another hat kid costume, that being the shadow puppet costume that you get from the death wish mode! It's probably one of my favorite outfits, plus it never hurts to have a nod to the death wish mode lol. I'm not sure if there is an alternate costume in smash that completely changes the taunts. (inkling might but idk???) I was thinking that it's be cool to change them for the shadow puppet outfit to be more snatcher-esque, though that's mainly just because I love snatcher as a character to an arguably unhealthy degree lmao. (Oh damn I just read through this entire thing and its a bit ramble-y. Guess that's what I get for having ADHD lol.)
The dwellers' mask ability really reminds me of OCTAHEDRON. Hat Kid is also my third most wanted character in Smash, besides Hornet and OCTAHEDRON protagonist respectively.
Also, for Victory animations (I assume they were not included due to time and budget constraints?), I would suggest for Hat Kid and Bow Kid: -Hat Kid and/or Bow Kid would collect a Time Piece -Hat Kid and/or Bow Kid would be playing with dolls, but while Hat Kid would sheepishly puts hers away once she's caught, Bow Kid would shrug and continue playing with her dolls. -SMUG DANCE And for her Down Aerial, I would replace her little kicks with her jabbing her parasol downwards for a strong Spike potential. And one other suggestion for Classic Mode would be "Hats off to ya!", where Hat Kid fights off opponents who also wears hats or headwear, or are known to almost always wear hats (like the Mario bros). Wedding Mario could be the penultimate fight, and Marx could be the final boss. Again, great video. I'd kill to have Hat Kid in Smash.
i think Kirby should have access to every hat ability due to him gaining all the monodo arts from shulk and him also getting a lotta slack in copy abilities recently. Kirby is a low tier and sometimes has to focus on using copy abilities as part of his weak broken moveset. it just makes sense. but overall, amazing video!!! nintendo really needs to hire you-
Neutral special is the hat abilities, so neutral special would use the currently equipped hat. So as Kirby only has the Kids Hat, then Kirby only uses the umbrella beam
I think her up special should be like jokers using her hook to grab people above her and when they are falling off they can grab the edge with it to pull them self up
This is amazing though not the moveset I'd pick then again the game has loads of options so nailing down a single one is hard. I also think to keep it closer to in game she shouldn't have her Umbrella out all the time and only have it out when she attacks. Her doing the Smug Dance would work great for a side taunt that goes forever that you can cancel out of maybe so the Nyakuza pose if in that outfit another cool thing could be her Star KO sound being her saying "Goodbye cruel world" similar to Pit's as that is a voice line in game. For the symbol that represents her it definitely would be a Timepiece.
Love it! If you recall in the video my reasoning for not having the smug dance is because it fits better as a victory screen. Think about it- after you win she just mocks you to infinity with the smug dance haha
Yeah that would work great for that another great idea for a stage could be a traveling type similar to The Halberd stage where you start in her ship and go to small instances of the levels going in the order of Mafia Town, Dead Bird Studios (where it would be split into a Conductor and DJ Grooves sides), Subcon Forest, Alpine Skyline, Arctic Cruse, Nyakuza Metro, and lastly Times End, and would loop back to Mafia Town via a Rift instance. Two other Spirits I'd add would be Cookin Cat a support that gives you all stats up when you eat food and you heal more from food (orange Incineroar on Dalfino with food items appearing more often and them gravitating toward them), and The Badge Seller though not sure how to incorporate them and incorporating more stuff from Deathwish (the super versions of the bosses even if it's just art though enhancement). Also I personally think a Giant Dark Kirby fits for The Snatcher due to black color and yellow eyes plus with Kirby he could take Hat Kid's Hat (if you play as her of course) or start with it on like in the fight.
I think the final smash should make it so it doesnt deal much damage or knockback, but slows down EVERYTHING about enemies. This includes speed, fall, attacks, cooldowns, charges, animations, taunts, basically everything, and also doubles their knockback and damage taken. This stays for 10 seconds. I think it just is funnier and could be used in more situations.
I think I have better taunts specifically side taunt and I will relocate the other taunts. The up taunt and down taunt would be exactly the same as the game in the same spot. but the side taunt would be the signature peace and tranquility dance and would go on until you move or press a button.
This is amazing!!!!! The only song I think is missing is ship shape where the song picks up speed on timed stages. Other then that hat kid is my current dream character since my other 2 got in being banjo and Steve

no i think they should put an easter egg from the game, becuase you become S M U G when you press up, down, then up, so if they could implement that, it would be sick
Thought about Train Rush: The music should change based on how far into the match you are (gets faster the lest stocks someone has) or how much time you have left (It gets faster as time ticks down). Bonus thought about Classic mode: Stage 2 is also a nod to Death Wish, where you fight both Grooves and Conductor at the same time. Side note: Each 8-th stage should be a boss, so I think the "Mustache Girl" should have stronger stats like moving faster and hitting harder.
If she doesn’t get her own stage (s?) and we have to buy her She would have The mafia town stage Or her space ship Or the forest Hope she joins one day

the final boss in classic could also be a stupidly OP game and watch and a snatcher outfit (see my other comment) hat kid as a reward you unlock a hyper snatcher ex spirit that increases special damage also because of balancing you only have to defeat snatcher kid who tends to run away
@@toxiquid yeah, like I thought for sure that Mustache Girl would've been an ace evolution spirit, similar to like Andross. Where the legend spirit would've been final battle version.
If hat kid was in smash i feel like the hats would work more like steve, where they can break and you would have to get yearn to make them or they would break when you get K.O’d. Also, a train stage would be nice, where the train breaks and transforms and stuff.
I like most of it but I'm not big on the classic mode just being a rehash of the spirit battles. Like you can use To the End of Time where Hat Kid is fighitng a bunch of more time-travel/time manipulation themed characters. Like: 1) Mario and Luigi (Partners in Time) 2) Young Link and Link (Ocarina of Time) 3) Lucina and Robin (Time Travel plot line) 4) Sonic (Sonic Generations 5) Bayonetta (Witch Time) 6) Hat Kid (Mustache Girl) and then I don't care for the final boss but dollars to donuts its master hand and crazy hand.
Dlc fighters that aren’t in that specific pass cannot be in spirit battles. What happens if they buy just that pass and nothing else? They’ll be like “joker? Who’s that? Why can’t I play as him?”
