yes the fact that she defied the capitol and bc of that she was put into the 3rd quell not only truly sparked the revolution, it cemented the idea that katniss was antithetical and truly an opponent of the capitol

I don't think so because the whole point of the third quarter quell was to kill Katniss without making her a martyr, so if theoretically one of the other districts (but not 12) didn't have both a male and female tribute they'd have found another way to reap the missing tributes. Otherwise, if Katniss hadn't won or hadn't become a threat to Snow, they'd have held a different twist to the quarter quell anyway, as the whole point was to kill Katniss without making her a martyr, victors are always popular in the capitol, even if they weren't as popular when they were playing their games, and they wouldn't really want the people in the capitol getting upset if there wasn't a good reason behind it, like getting rid of opposition without making the situation wise.

But that picked that twist to punish the victors and katniss

Maybe the twist would me one victor would randomly be reaped. While the other tribute would be a non victor, of the opposite gender. Forcing them to mentor someone they may personally have to kill. Imagine having both mentor and tribute in the arena, having to work together in person.

@@michaelsayavong2656 that might have worked, but I'm curious about the issue of volunteering and how to determine which gender the victor will be reaped from. Do you take all the female victors as tributes and just reap the men? Or is it random for every district or alternating every district? Or do you have a separate pool of victors and then pools for both genders? You take all the female tributes and it's far more obvious you're targeting Katniss specifically, and Johanna maybe, you alternate and there's still that problem of all the even numbers are female victors and that's still a target on Katniss. Have a separate pool of victors regardless of gender and you open up volunteering which means Katniss could escape being reaped at all. It could however be tied up to the history of the revolt in the same way though, to have both the most experienced fighters dying alongside the less experienced in the same quarter quell to prove the point that the revolt lost their strongest fighters as well as their weakest.

Probably Finnick. He is loved for his looks, good with his weapons and wasn’t affected by any injuries. Also he could have always joined the careers because he is from district 4

The victor of the 73. Hungergames would at least been 17. Finnick was the youngest victor at 14, so every other victor was at least 15. Which means only the victor of 73. Hungergames could possibly be a minor - which is unlikely because the 73. Hungergames were won by District 2 (at least if you go by movie canon) and they are usually older when they volunteer (mostly 16-18). Sure - the victors from the 70.-73. games would have been very young - Annie who won the 70. was only in her early 20ies so was Johanna who won the 67. games in book canon and the 71. in movie canon - but not children. To second: Katniss and Peeta weren't adults but they were also killers like the others. In the book Katniss had killed 4 people and Peeta killed at least one Person (the girl from district 8) in cold blood and there is the theory he also killed the boy from district 4 - Haymitch mentions that Peeta "barely made it to the carriers" - we never get to know how but Peeta is with them, while District 4 boy is death and Katniss mentions in the first book that carriers never die on day one. Peeta also has accidently gotten foxface killed. So together they have a killcount from at least 5 to maybe 7. That's a huge difference to somebody who has never killed, like a child who never was in the games. Nether Katniss nor Peeta hesitate in their second games to kill, their first games took that innocence from them. Doesn't mean they weren't heavenly traumatised by that. But at least they had a shot to survive.

It was mentioned that 59 tributes were alive. 3 from 12, let’s pretend 3 and 5-11 only had one of each gender, that leaves room for 40 career victors collectively. It’s still unlikely that that would be the case but 40 is the highest amount of career victors possible considering the numbers we do have

They win it almost every year is half 50% of 75 witch is 37.5 meaning there could be 37 career victories.

That's a good idea as to a back up plan! I think the Hunger Games would still be called the 75th, as it's the 75th year the Hunger Games are held, and it would still be considered a "different" Games, ergo a Quarter Quell

You Thought RIGHT!!!!.... thats what i said they also work with mines, meaning they also have an intelligence advantage, meaning district 7 tributes aren’t only physically strong but also smart knowing how to reprogram mines. so i always side-eyed suzan collins to make annie the only female victor.

You're right! I was talking about how many Victors were still alive, and therefore affected by this Quarter Quell

Most likely they wouldn’t

Katniss does suppose that most if the other Victors were killed by the Capitol in fear of them also being rebels, and it’s possible that some died fighting in the war. We know Commander Lyme was a Victor, though wether she survived the war is unknown from what I remember. It’s also important to note that the Victors present were the ones who were either heavily involved in the rebel plot or the ones protected by the Mockingjay Agreement. So maybe other Victors were alive but weren’t considered symbolic enough to participate

Kua Um probably when the Capitol took loads of victors to torture, execute, etc to show how much power the Capitol has against the rebelling districts, or just when the victors are killed in the war like many regular people were
