i'd definitely advocate for you to turn the Hardcore serie into a regular survival serie once you reach 10k days. At that point, I wouldn't consider it cheating us the viewers. This world , i believe, has outgrown the " hardcore " limit. Whenever I watch one of your episodes, I think more of a " Building with Fwip " video, than a "Minecraft Hardcore " video. Please keep Path alive.
I agree! Because 10k days is so far away, I'd say it'd be a worthwhile thing to ask the General audience on the main channel to get a wider variety of opinions about it if your on the fence or want a different perspective then the avid hard-core viewers who come to watch your comment commentary here on the second channel.
I'm 100% ok with this not being 'Hardcore" if that's the choice. The idea of Hardcore has never interested me personally. I come for fWhip and the building and the story. Do whatever makes you happy and gives you fulfillment fWhip.
Hardcore is a good way of setting a definite "done with this project, time for something new" point. I'm going to be very sad when this world goes, but I'm also going to enjoy seeing what you do next.
I personally consider hardcore a negative when watching, as I know that any day it can just end suddenly, throwing all the progress done so far in the bin. That being said, I know you personally find it good to be in hardcore as it keeps you motivated. That's the most important thing. It doesn't matter if the world's a normal one if you just don't feel like continuing it, or forcing yourself to do so. A happy fwhip with a well lubricated mind is the best thing for the world.
I have a cool idea for your "to do list". Make 2 shelves of empty bookshelves in your library(or somewhere more convenient). In one put books with ideas for build, in another one transfer your books when you finish that task. That way you can track your accomplishments. I hope i was understood, sry for bad english 😊
5:22 My grandparents had a separate cellar in their garden where they’d store potatoes, onions, apples and such until the next harvest. Perhaps that could add some diversity in the fields as well? 😊
Totems save you from rare instances of death. If you get caught in a death loop situation, you can have a whole inventory of totems and still die. I'm just having fun watching how far you go in this world.
carrots and potatoes would go into a root cellar for storage. Also, an old ice house/cellar would be a good addition somewhere as well. Maybe around the harbor areas?
No totem rules! I want this world to be around as long as possible. I would love there to be a farming mod though, all the different fields would be so cool and bring a little more life into this world!
I’d love if this became a normal survival world! I became a fan when you did the 1.20 Asian inspired building series, and part of what I loved about it was how it was part of a larger world. Basically, I miss your long term non-hardcore world
Hey fWhip, did you ever regret throwing out your first tools of the hardcore world? You mentioned wanting to add history through builds but preserving special items like your eventual first heavy core is another way of creating history. Placing signs with the year I explored or built something is something I also do in my world to signify its age.
I think totems essentially bridge the gap between hardcore & regular survival. For a long term world such as this one it would be a lot better to make a large biomes world as it would give more space for builds of a grander scale without sacrificing immersion. Would love to see that in the next building with Fwhip S1.
Huge respect to you keeping the world as hardcore because it's what keeps you motivated! For the totem rules, I personally think that there's so much risk involved even in building totem farms and quickly switching out totems if you're continuously popping them in a melee fight that there's no need to add additional rules around using them. Imo the only way they'd feel cheesy in a hardcore world would be if you used them like Scar does in a lot of his Hermitcraft intros, where he'll intentionally hit the ground hard enough to pop the totem while in 2nd person/"facing the camera" view and greeting the audience in time with the shower of totem particles. It might feel a bit cheap to cheat death at the intro to a hardcore episode! Them again, Scar himself has messed this up and died for real in an intro, so maybe it'd still feel risky? Really, the totems do feel the most effective when, exactly as what happened to you, they save you from dying due to a game glitch instead of choices you made that put you in a precarious situation.
“Hey folks, fWhip here, and welcome on back to “comments on comments” on the second channel, where I respond to the comments you made on my recent video.” How about that?
The mechanic I want, to make death meaningful, is a mod that randomizes your world spawn location, every time you die (and totems don't prevent this). So you respawn in the absolute middle of nowhere, possibly tens of thousands of blocks from where you died, and you have to pretty much start over, but your original builds are still *there* just, far away. Eventually, you could build nether-ceiling piston-bolt transport to connect to past areas. To make it closer to hardcore, make death also empty your ender chest (and again, totems don't need to prevent this). Totems could still *work* in the sense of saving your life in the moment, but now your world spawn point has moved, so if you go to the End and come back, you're going to be in a new place. Or you could just not use totems.
I think maybe every time you use a totem, you have to put all your stuff away in a box in your base, and start afresh a few thousand blocks out in a new area until you reach a late game stage like having elytra or whatever. Kinda a mix of what sausage and gem are doing with their hardcore worlds and linksy's totem punishment idea. Idk just what came to mind!
For the 5 totem limit I would say no, mostly because like the first question, your fan base would literrally ball their eyes out if you lost this world. I know it would be a fun challenge but I don't like creators that are a slave to some sort of rules whether their own or not. Like how you don't have a ton of automatic farms, but you made some nether tree ones to help you with some projects. annnnd if hypothedicly you do die there would proablly be endless regret
something that i think is a good idea is if you want to turn it into a normal world, instead of starting a fresh world and loosing everything in this one, fly like 500k blocks out so you're far enough away from spawn that it's basically a new world but still get to keep everything here. can lock away the gear you have so you're really back to square 1
Hi Fwhip firstly I would like to say that I absolutely love your content and find your world amazing. In regards to your city have u thought about gradually making it more poor and run down as you get further from the mega tree so you have an old ruined side and a rich done up side?
Hi there! I really enjoy your videos and I wanted to share a few suggestions for your next project. In particular, I think it would be interesting to include some ancient buildings that have been destroyed over time, rather than just barns and sheds. These could include libraries, observatories like Baldur's Gate 3, or even a ruined fortress that wasn't rebuilt after a siege. For my own world, I created a large battlefield inspired by the White Orchard from The Witcher 3. Shields, swords, and rotting flesh are all over the place, but I tried to avoid making it too dark. What do you think?
@@Strawberrypie3167 I'm glad you liked the idea! You can also try to diversify your world by telling some mini stories. For example, I built a large magician's tower, but I didn't like the way it looked, so I decided to tell a story about how the magician tried to control all four elements, but something went wrong and he ended up blowing up the top of the tower (I blew up the top of the tower with TNT). I then decorated it to make it look like the elements had spread out on all sides. Also, I played Minecraft with my friends and we used mods. One of the mods was called Cataclysm, which inspired me to build a pyramid in my world. However, when I realized how much work it would take to manually build the pyramid, I decided to take a shortcut and dig a quarry that only half the pyramid was visible, like it had been buried by sand over time and was only recently discovered.
Hey fwhip, I think for the totem ,a cool rule would be that you can't wear totem which are farmed from A raid farm, or à raid so you wear mansion' s totem
Along with the ruin shed idea, when you do the necessary crop field every video, you could add dead fields or fields that have just been ploughed or being harvested - adds some life and more variation :)
I think if Minecraft had blocks that would give biome effects like the basalt delta particles that would be really cool and open so many options for builders. Terraria has a lot of monoliths and such that you can trigger to get certain effects in the area and I think it makes so much sense. Like imagine if you could get the mangrove swamp water colour for other places. It's so pretty but it's in such a bad biome for building
11:10 an idea for how you can do this, every time you stream, set up 30min for breaking the bedrock. I think 8-9months and you will be finished ( I know this is a long time but a job like this feels like something you need to spread out over time...for me atleast)
For the nether build height limit, I'm using the mod "Amplified Nether" and it completely removes this problem - if you're willing, you could delete your current nether terrain and reload it with the mod, I can't go back to the old cramped Nether after playing with it it is that transformative
Ive been playing MC since 1.5 and have ALWAYS built in medieval style, however recently ive broken out of my comfort zone and started on a floating cyberpunk city, honestly its given a much larger understanding of cities and such, genuinely i was pretty surprised how much it made me re-look at my own towns and cities ive previously done. you should check out some cool builds in other styles and you might find some great inspiration!
if i could say so,, this series of yours just shows the incredible creativity of yours and I would hate to see this ever evolving, growing world being lost due to one stupid accident.
I say you should make two worlds one The hardcore one The one you have always played then have a survival version for like ideas or if the other would gets lost
the totem limit is super cool, like, imagine having 7 lives like a cat, and after the 7th totem popped you would have to build your own death chaimber and loose hardcore forever by your own hands
you should start adding one or two trees per field placed when you do your fields for the ep. Also the large door outside the city hall should connect to the underground cave you found when you built your color glass crafter.
Hi fWhip, I keep thinking "Wit with fWhip" would be a good title for these comments of the day posts. I looked up the definition to double check I wasn't suggesting something possibly inappropriate. A lot of the description was, what I think, fitting for you. You explain things exceedingly well, grounded and kind, added often with wisdom and humor. Wit (noun) a. The ability to relate seemingly disparate things so as to illuminate or amuse. b. A talent for banter or persiflage. c. Clever or apt humor d. Astuteness of perception or judgement. As for totems, it is impressive you have only popped one! I don't really have an opinion on 'totem cool down time' as I play in Peaceful mostly. I think it comes down to what will keep the individual interested in their own world or playing style. Hope you have a good day!
I think you to get a new Totem you should make a temple or something where the totem dispenses really far away with no nether portal, so you have to take a journey and walk there. I also think it would be a cool way to just enjoy all the progress you’ve made in your world.
this would be something i think would have to be done from the early game, but it might be doable.... expecially if you wanted to "earn" the totem back.... and i feel like this works well with your idea of wanting to build multiple civilizations in the world... when you pop a totem, you have to put everything in a chest, and go start over somewhere else, and can't come back until you've got netherite gear again, or something along those lines. you can still use totems in the new location, you'd just have to get them again. and once you're allowed to go back, you now have a second/third/fourth/ civilization that you're building up.
I just spent 2 weeks in Japan, and the way cities are laid out gives me so much inspiration for how to pack a lot into a small space. I was in the Tokyo area (I actually lived just south of Tokyo for 11 years), and there are little streets going off in every direction, just wide enough for a single car. There's pretty much nothing in the way of front yards, and every open space is used by roads or public spaces. There are a lot of green spaces, too. But I love how they will build up large hills with roads that switch back and forth at times, and houses are built right up against retaining walls with a tiny space behind them. The space between houses is only enough to shuffle sideways through. People have 2 to 3 storey houses, with many having a rooftop patio where they can hang clothes to dry. It's just amazing how they can fill the space. It's giving me a lot of inspiration.
If you build out the city, I think it would look much better and much more like a medieval organically grown city, if more houses were diagonal.also in varying rotations. I know it's difficult to do in minecraft but I am sure you'd make it look amazing.
For me with totems I like to set the rule where I store totems at my house, and only keep one totem on my person at a time. That way if I pop a totem, I just have to safely make my way out of that situation and back in order to ‘earn’ another. I also like to keep the totem in my hotbar but not in my offhand, so I have to switch to it to use it (in combat scenarios, I’d hold it if I was elytraing). But I’m not as skilled at the game, so I like the ideas of longer delays or things like that to up the difficulty for better players! I’m definitely not a fan of using the totem to cheese (like killing the warden like you said), but I do like it not really having strict “rules” so you can really adjust it to fit your play-style and abilities
Ive been dying for Path to be finished. I think its a great starter city like in an RPG it isnt completely overwhelming when you visit like the first hold in Skyrim, Whiterun is pretty basic. Papyrus could easily be that Mega City with a Sphinx or Pyramid being the centerpiece. Also using Totems in Hardcore defeats the purpose ihmo, so if you're setting arbitrary limitations on them... just don't use them.
For carrots, potatoes, apples, and such they would use root cellars. Which would be easy to add in next to fields. Just a tiny build going into a hill with a door.
I like what you used to do where you would drop all your gear and such and strike out a long ways away, and start from scratch while you begin building an entire new civilization there in a different, but complimentary style. I think I remember you having a challenge to complete before you could unlock previous locations. It was awesome. This is awesome. Both are awesome LOL! You're the Bob Ross of Minecraft and I'm here for it!
for totem rule: Totem should be Name before handle. if Pop, a monument in its honor will be build, from which you will call a raid to prove your worth to its successor
Hey Fwhip loving the series so far I think a cool project you could do though is making an abandoned castle/city to give the world some more depth and history with the city being run down and abandoned with the foliage over growing it the bricks cracked the lore could be that the pillagers over ran the the city leaving everyone to flee someone where else
so you’ve any plans to build government buildings or a palace in the world? i know it could be a bit touchy but i feel like it’d help flesh out the world and how it functions
I remember in an old heemitcraft season welksknight built a massive medieval city in front of a castle, don’t know if he ever finished it but it had a cool effect on the ground of kinda walking through a maze of narrow winding streets which had a really cool feel to it. Think it would be cool for you to do something similar with the current city
Wait it would be cool if while you answer these questions you just do random small things you needed to do in your world like cleaning random blocks or adding small details
For someone who's going to play Minecraft for the first time and create their first world, what do you think they should focus on first? Building, playing the game as it is, or something else?
do you ever plan on bringing anything back from s1 or s2 of hardcore into this hardcore world? bring back both of your hardcore starter bases back and the themes with it. even if you do use aura to get it all placed back i would love to see them in places you frequent and actively come back to such as the mega taiga, or they can be in the end banished into the ever undying worlds. this can also play on the ruins idea.
could you create some village of sorts on the snow mountains where it’s kind of a different group of people, kind of mimicking the world of Wakanda where there’s a whole region up at the top of the mountain where it’s a recluse group of people that have chosen to live in the ancient times despite the massive amount of technological progress the rest of the area is having
Honestly, as sad as I would be to see this world end due to a bs glitch, I've always thought totems sort of negate the whole idea of hardcore. Especially since people have the farms and a storage warehouse full of them. Like, is it even hardcore anymore when you essentially have insta rez with keep inventory?
In general minecraft terms, I kinda wish there was a limit on totems. Raid farms have been just ridiculous, and it seems like Mojang are modifying that. But this world? This series, I agree with a bunch of other commenters that "Hardcore" now has got to the point of being a negative more than a positive. I can definitely see the appeal getting through early, mid, even endgame at first, but 7000something days in? One unfortunate mistake combined with one glitch and you'd lose the world and that'd be so frustrating as a viewer. Regular Hardcore series have a bit of schadenfreude - the viewers don't want the series to END, but they're enjoying watching the creator struggling with the possibility. There's none of that here, we know that fwhip is too good at the game to make an entertainingly fatal mistake, but a glitch, sudden lag, bad timing and it could all be over. But! as the creator, it's up to fwhip! If taking this world off hardcore would make it more cozy and motivating, then do it! If taking it off hardcore would make it feel dull and stale, dont! I'm pretty confident the audience would be here either way!
Hi Fwhip, have you ever considered making some hidden mafia stories to suggest everything isn't as peaceful as it seems. I think it could be cool. Love the builds
Hi, im italian and love your building style and your hardcore series , i've 2 questions why don't build another tree but in the nether as the other two dimension and why don't build an italian style city like SMP? Sorry for the mistakes in the sentence😅
Memento Mori. One day, you must eventually die. It's not morbid to simply accept that it will happen and that no matter how careful you are, it has to end someday, and to make the most of the time you've got. You're just taking that principle and applying to the game.
