A volcano is one of the most unforgiving natural phenomenons on Earth. If you were to fall into its magma-filled center, your body would quickly bubble up, and disappear without a trace. So if they're so good at getting rid of things, why aren't we using them to get rid of our garbage? Has anyone tried it before? How would we transport all our trash to them?

@@VanishingPoint7 It's not the flowing lava that will get you quickly but the lava and hot ash spewing out of the volcano with such force that you won't be able to walk away from it'. Pompeii is just one example of Nature being smarter and faster than humans.

@@tegathemenace water is denser and has lower boiling point than oil. so if you dump water in a hot oil, the water sinks then evaporates creating pockets of vapour under the oil which expands fast. The pockets of vapour then bubbles up to the surface of the oil to escape this create the explosion.

It would probably make more sense to dump it in the non-active volcanoes… by the time it erupts, most of the trash would have been mostly decomposed. But this is an interesting concept :-)

@@vukasin2323you are not polluting fertilable soil around you? Think, Jesse. Volcanos are a waste of space for human activity. That is why nobody lives near them. Dumping them into inactive volcano is making use of a space that won't be used anyways. Since the soil is dead thanks to volcano, you can't use it and live near a volcano. The second thing is that it would be easier to push it into inactive volcano than dig hundreds of kms wide and hundreds of meters deep. Time consuming, ineffective and requires a lot of money to power machinery and to use it. Nature already dug a hole for you, the volcano.

In Mexico, they make a reversal system. It's turning recycled plastic into gasoline. It's simple, and the gasoline comes out better than we find in gas stations. Everyone should do this, there is plastic everywhere.

Mauana Loa in Hawai'i is an ideal place for this volcano trash disposal idea. It is a big shield volcano, it is relatively stable, and it is definitely active. However, even it releases so much toxic gas, the Park Service had many roads closed in the area when I visited. But more importantly, the Native Hawaiian population would never allow it, because they believe the Fire Goddess Pele lives in that particular crater. In addition, even in its natural state, the fumes from Mauna Loa regularly spread at least 100 miles, affecting visibility on the other side of Hawai'i island, and even Oahu and Kauai. So that's why it has never been considered, even though it would be economic for Hilo to do.

I never thought of throwing trash into a volcano, but I did think what if we separate our trash into bins filled with acid that melts that material. but then that just brings into my mind the safty that would have to be put on such a project and how to dispose of the acid if it loces its acidic nature or if it would even lose its acidic nature.

Probably what we actually need is a subduction zone, where things go into the lava core, as opposed to a volcano, where it wants to come out. Unfortunately those are usually under the ocean. So in a way, we’re sort of doing that already.

I was thinking the same thing. Much of our "recycling" is outsourced to a certain nation overseas, who "safely transports" it to their processing facility (location unknown, process unknown). No problem! But I think if there is a conveniently located subduction zone, that might just be the very best commercial use of such land.

You're not really trying. Compress the trash into cubes. Build train tracks to about 10 miles from the volcano. Then use a massive sling shot to toss the cubes several miles into the volcano. As the eruptions grow keep throwing more.

One thing this video didn't mention to my surprise is our minerals come from the molten lava in Many cases and pouring mounds and mounds of trash would alter the make up of the molten lava and maybe would not produce the minerals we need and use and the maker up of the lava on a molecular level would change the type of rock that forms and maybe how it flows and interacts with the ocean and maybe it wouldn't eventually break down into smaller rock then Earth over time and maybe plant life wouldn't take hold in it, just so many more things we can mess up by doing this it's mind numbing.

I doubt we could even accurately aim it from this range let alone get it there. Just throwing it out in space would be easier than getting it to a black hole. It would take 38,545,454 rocket trips to get rid of a single years active waste at a cost of 13,490,908,900,000,000 or 13.4 Quadrillion US dollars. Now if we charged every person on the planet equally to dispose of their own garbage, then each person on earth would have to pay $1,682,184.18 for a year of garbage removal. Ready to write that cheque?
