The reason why MI has remained relevant is that he sees himself as an artist and not a musician. He plans to change the world (starting from Nigeria's hip hop scene). Artists like Van Gogh, Picasso, De Angelo, Bob Marley, Tupac, etc all share their intellect and world paradigm through their art and various other fora. They lent their voice to better the society around them.
Many artists but all alone Many talents but all alone Many potentials but all alone Many ideas but all alone Many abilities but all alone etc MI is not just talking about Music. Music was the illustration. His talk is deeper than that. I for one I'm going to learn from this wonderful talk. Thank you Mr Incredibly
I had goosebumps after listening to this guy. We are so intelligent with a lot of resources in Africa, but it is unfortunate that every man wants to stand alone.
He's so Intelligent and uses his art to lend a voice and look at how he analyses achieving success on a bigger scale with the Label chains in the music industry great presentation 👏👏👏
The sad thing is people don't understand how powerful and stronger they can be if united....rather everyone is increasing there pride..... great talk Man just learned a good part of you
This massage suppose not to go to music industry alone but to our engineers, doctors, business men in fact all of us. Because to make it happen we have to put our mindset together, work as a team and we will be all amaze with how it will bring change upon Nigeria
I see people making reference to the music industry in the comment section. But I think the TedTalk is way deeper than that. I was also almost getting mad that the guy is talking about the music industry, when it's clear that the society as a whole is what is being divided by worthless ideas. In a nutshell, we all have to come together, work towards bringing our country/ies forward and making sure that the scheme of the elites in the society - which is to divide and conquer - stops having effect on us. Each one teach one should be the motto. Let's all try to start thinking like leaders and stop being the sheep we are expect to be. Peace! EDIT: People! Please I'd advise we stop praising the messenger instead of processing the message. MI didn't come here to make us like him more - we do already. Let's take the message, instead, and make it an idea that's worth sharing!
I was just sharing this same stuff with few friends today. Ignorance is what has led Africa to its poor estate today! The 'every man for himself' mentality. It's taking us no where instead bringing us down to our low level of mind slavery and demotion. For example: the fall in naira is it not also affecting Aliko Dangote?
@@chidichuks2853 Exactly bro. Nobody cares about his neighbours. People would rather risk being enslaved en route Europe (which is at all not what the people think it is) than find solution to the problem at home
I just hope people use your comment as a metric of watching this video in another perspective .. So much has been said by MI in this video that relates to our everyday lives.
Yes yes yes... Half way through the talk, I was like "there is more...it's not only in the music industry". There is the bigger picture in so many areas that we don't see yet...majorly because we are busy trying to survive.
My respect for MI just hit the rooftop after listening to this explosive presentation. Indeed the power of unity can make us achieve more result. Thank MI.
What a brilliant and insightful speech...MI abaga is someone I revere so much.. he has no idea how much his music has had an impact in my life .. minds like his, needs more recognition...👏👌
Believe this The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity. Nigerians Mr M I Abaga has diagnosed our problems let act and do more as one with love..
This is such a thought provoking presentation from MI. Thank you. My opinion on this brilliant piece is quite simple. One thing I have come to realise in Nigeria business field is that "PEOPLE MOSTLY WANTS TO USE PEOPLE". In a sane clime, you get the exact reward or more for your effort, the reverse is the case here. Taking a swipe at MI's Drake example. Drizzy would have been long gone from YMCMB if he gets little for his craft.. Paying dues is not me working and you holding to my reward or milking me of it. I feel that is the genesis of our problem. Sign an artist, stay on an agreement, after awhile review the agreement as the artist grows. Then nobody is shortchanged. Everybody is happy. This is also applicable in all other sectors too.
The is beyond the music scene. Amos 3:3 says "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" , let's to try put our differences aside and work in one accord, we will surely get there. The chorus in M.I's song 'brother' finished it all.
Nigerians really need to stop scattering their energy and coalesce it as one. It's possible and doable. I hope more established artistes like MI think like this and make inroads into doing this.
Surprisingly there is *NO COMMENT* here. This was very inspiring and educative. I understand why *AFRICA/AFRICANS* is/are sinking. This is mind bugging and goes to show how we should learn to respect the ranks and pay dues where necessary.
Absolutely brilliant. I'm sure other players in the industry would have different perspectives also, but this perspective is sweeetttt and scalable. So as a co-teenager, I say KUDOs M.I.
We have to give it to him, he made the most relevant point for Africa; Continuous warring among any group of tribes eventually defeats the group - Greece made the Roman conquest easier by its infighting, the prejudice that stems from a person's ethnicity/religious beliefs in Africa tend to create dividing-lines that need washing away in the waters of Unity and Reason. From the Nigerian coat of arms, its Unity, then Peace, then Progress; clearly, our forbears knew something we need to give earnest heed. "Us vs Them" and soon, both will be no more.
brilliant speech. just discovered this. as Nigerians our major problem has ALWAYS been collaboration. There is nothing wrong with Nigeria per se, just that we can't just collaborate. EOD. and the powers that be know that and fuel our 'disunity'. once we collaborate or are able to do so, the sky is just the start. I choose to collaborate in my little corner !! what are you doing in your little corner
Very powerful & Insightful presentation of The Power of One. I was wandering how the Presenter "MI" would wrap up his presentation, but he nailed it in the end... Well done
Guys, Unity & Love is the key to Massive SUCCESS in a nation or continent. We must be selfless and learn to love ourselves or else nothing will change. If we choose to grow vertically without any seperations or difference, then one day we will reach God. (based on that story)
That's the problem. Everybody is uprooting themselves & branching off. Many of the 'connections' in the Naija music industry that M.I. highlighted are relationships that no longer exist. Hence we're spreading (horizontally) in influence, but not growing (vertically) as a powerhouse to be reckoned with.
The Covenant Child Yea, I get that, that's why I asked about the primary cause? It's like how a family should grow.. there's the nuclear family, the children grow, get married, start their own families and so on but as a whole it is still one (extended) family which eventually sums up to a community. If there's an issue with the growth (horizontal & vertical), we have to at least find the cause to deal with it?
@@ekenetemi which is what Olamide is currently doing with his team. Adekunle, Kesh and all are still affiliated thou i don't think it's yet legal as of royalties.
Nigerian artist think that by branching out when they've gotten the recognition will make them more successful. With MI presentation it's obvious that the assume success the likes of Wizkid, Dbanj, etc... feel they now have it's minor to what they would have attained if they synergy where there!
Very thought provoking. What if we all get our PVCs, vote note according to religious lines, tribal lines nor party lines. What if we employ people into jobs because they deserve it regardless of tribe nor religion. What if we all stand together and unite for all criminals to be prosecuted by law regardless of whether they are affiliated with us through tribe or religion. What if?
