THE VISUALS OF THIS VIDEO???? THEY ARE DIVINE??????????? I sometimes just put videos in the background to occasionally glance at them as I'm doing my own stuff but I COULDN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF THIS ONE
@MomoMMDs I thought maybe they decided to animate it. Which makes sense why it'd take so long but June just dropped that they're working on remaking an old animation which like also a lot of work. So I'm genuinely just so curious what could make it take so long ngl
@@NeonPandaLyrics tbh they are doing everything but the pikachu eeveelutions video at this point. They should really just come out and say that it’s gonna be cancelled or put off till further notice.
@bdwarrior_1 I k ow June has been very open about his mental health and how bad it's been these few years. That fish story was crazy 😵💫 So I take that into account. I know he still likes pokemon considering it's what he still does often. I know there's a studio to work on, I know they need to keep making videos bc it's bad for channel analytics otherwise. Like realistically these all take a long time. I'm just very floored at the announcement of a huge project but no news on this. I do feel like June should give another sort of update tbh. It's a project a lot of people are looking forward to and I think another lil update no matter what oind would help.
Volceron is largely based on a dog so imagine it doing typical dog things, but with electricity: chasing lightning bolts, barking at thunder during a storm, or shaking off water after a bath, wich causes a small power outage
Every storm, it thinks there’s a pack of Volceron outside and desperately wants to play, or defend its territory. “Hey, that’s my tree! See those scratches? It’s mine, paws off!”
I love how during the fake pokedex entry, you can see the small differences between the female and male versions! I think that was a neat little touch to see the differences!
@@yannismorris4772 There's no difference between the male/female Eevees, male Jolteons collar spikes are a lot sharper than female Jolteons, male Volcerons front legs are all white fur while female Volcerons legs are bare.
I like how youre using the glitches to ease us into the new art style, it’s definitely a huge jump. The colors and fluffy gravity defying exaggerated style is very different, and while i was initially reserved about the new style, seeing it in action in this video has made me warm up to it. Ill miss the old style tho! It looks awesome in this vid
@@sillygoosetaur I also liked the old one better too, the Line art was a lot more catchier for me in the old one :’> But the new one looks really fun so I’m eager to see it.
Very true! I think it's a very smart idea on easing viewers to the new design. If they had just plopped the new design out of nowhere with no forewarning or hints, the change would have very jarring and many people would be confused and/or upset. I'm not saying that Rea HAS to announce that they're changing their look, it's just a very smart idea knowing how people can get.
How on earth have you only got 4 likes? And can someone please explain how the comment system works because Jordan your wonderful comment is almost at the top with only 4 likes the algorithm wants my brain to explode doesn’t it.
"... When the thought struck: what if pikachu but eevee" This, dear friends, was a thought with far reaching and long lasting consequences for our artist
At first I was worried about the soon-to-be redesign, but then I realized that the biggest reason I like current Reas' design is because of how well they draw the characters expressions, so Im starting to look forward to their new, vibrant look!
I am too. The more I see them the more I like them especially when they switch in-between. Tho I will miss the old rea I'm excited for the new rea as well
Rea: "I don't think that Volceron's design is perfect by any means..." Me: "I'm sorry, I was too lost in the perfect chest floof you drew to hear you doubting your talent."
I wonder what the names of the new evolutions would be? Would have to know Volceron's etymology first before coming up with anything, I think. There'd have to be a shared part like the -eon in the Eeveelutions... would it be -ceron, -eron, or -ron though...
I literally spent a solid amount of my middle school and high school years obsessing over your animations and MAP parts. It’s so incredible to see you in my recommended after all this time. These designs are incredible and it’s super inspiring to see how much your art has improved since the first time I saw it. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me in my own art journey, and I hope I see more from you soon!
The glitches and the steadily increasing "Under Construction" tape is making me very suspicious of you, Rae. What are you hiding, you majestic artist?!
They announced their new sona design on the community tab, I kinda figured they're doing this as a way of like introducing it but it'd be very cool if there was more :D
YOU POOR SOUL MY GOD; I CAN FEEL YOUR STRUGGLE AAA God though; the editing is amazing; I just can't get enough of it; And your artwork is always such a treat. (Especially the new design in action
“Don’t let me make a whole generation of Pokémon, because 3 was hard enough to do, BUT allow me to make it even harder for myself by making 8 different Pika-Vees ( terrible name, ik ), because I’m ambitious and curious” I love you, Reagan, your logic matches mine
Almost three years later and I still don't see what was that wrong with the designs. But then again, knowing me being a perfectionist, they're not mine so I wouldn't judge them as much as if it was something I made. We've all been there Rae, take your time with the pikachu video. :)
The illustration at the end is now available as a print, for everyone who was asking for one :3c actuallyrea.com/products/lenticular-print Also edit!! Just for anyone wondering! The sequel video has taken me longer than expected because I’ve really wanted to make sure I do it right, it’s still very much in progress! Hopefully it’ll be up in April c:
Hey so the print is no longer available on your website is there any other way of getting Also i absolutely love jolteon and honestly if Volceron was a real pokemon is would EASILY take over jolteon’s spot as my favorite
Man, Pokémon designing alludes me, so when you were talking about your struggles I FELT THAT. I think this is a really fun challenge though! And your designs turned out pretty great! I love that animated illustration at the end, that was gorgeous
A lot of OC Pokémon have a habit of entering Sigimon territory. Too spiked, too angular and a bit too artificial. Pokémon, even the badass ones straddle the line of round and cute and tough and sharp.
This is actually such a wonderful and fun idea! Too many videos in this vain are just "fixing" things they don't like, and honestly it gets a *little* tiring when RU-vid constantly bombards me with videos hating on or just criticizing games I love, so a fun, inoffensive idea like this is a wonderful breath of fresh air.
God I relate to their artistic process so much- art is sooo paINFul and TIRING- Especially while trying to make designs yourself The end turned out amazing! Your pokemon designs are so good, can't wait for the pichu/pikachu shenanigans
Please please forgive me if my silly brain completely forgot if you did this or if you did it off-screen or not, but if you ever end up doing a design challenge like this again I'd recommend starting with silhouettes first! I'm an animation major student in my junior year with a concentration in visual development, including character, prop, and enviroment design. Every single time I sit down to start designing something, I start with some silhouettes! These don't have to be perfect, I have done some ROUGH silhouettes, but doing this helped me figure out the shape language really quickly early on! I know you mentioned that when your friend came to you and told you about the shape language that you were able to get to work a lot faster and easier. If you start with silhouettes, especially silhouettes made from basic shapes, you can figure out that specific shape language really early on! Additionally, with working with silhouettes, you can use a lighter color brush to pull out specific shapes WITHIN the silhouette, like the inner ear or certain markings you're thinking about, or eye shape. That's specific notes for character design but it works really well with prop and environment design too! For example, when designing buildings, you can use a lighter color to figure out where the windows are. Or when designing specific props, you can pull out elements that are supposed to be raised or pushed in depending on the colors you use. But just starting with silhouettes will really help your process out in the long run! And don't spend a shit ton of time on silhouettes either. Start with one or two silhouettes and copy-paste them and add or subtract elements. Warp that shit to hell and back, try combining a couple silhouettes, find ways to make your job easier. That's how professional designers can pump out designs and drafts really quickly, too! We take as many fucking shortcuts as we can, including copy-paste-edit haha. I AM ALSO SO So Very sorry for the Huge Ass Chunk Of Text OTL VisDev is a huge passion of mine, especially character design, but there is a LOT that goes into VisDef hsdfhsdf- I can only hope to explain what I've learned in 3 years of college into one RU-vid comment coherently, but who knows if I manage it or not ;;w;; But but!!!! I also really really love the designs you ened up with!! I think they're really really nice and just so yummy your honor. So please like!! Don't take this as me trying to bash anything hdfhsd I swear Im not OTL I just wanted to try and pass along what I've learned in the hopes that it helps in the future! QwQ
The chaotic energy of this video is absolutely divine "Don't let me do that" my god this is the most relatable thing I have ever heard from someone else with ADHD. Because yes, if no one is there to stop me I would do something that ridiculous. I would despise myself for it, but I would do it
Uncharged Pichu: Uncharged pichu’s are unsurprisingly, pichu’s with a rare disability that causes them to be unable to contain and use electricity. This forces these creatures to become crafty with their attacks and defense. They tend to mimic a raichu’s charge before an attack, only to kick up dust and run away. These small baby Pokémon may resemble a feral alley-cat at first, but they will often seek out their owners with a whimper due to how emotional and clingy they tend to be.
@@A_JinglyRabbit Alright. Sorry for getting confused, tbh this is a really neat concept I wish they had put in the show or games sometime. (Maybe someone could put them in a fanfic sometime! :-D)
I like how artists are able to bring cool concepts to life with their skills, I can’t draw that well so the only thing I can do is imagine them, but it must be really neat to be able to draw your awesome ideas and see them whenever you want
TRUST ME when I say that all you need to do is practice. Draw what you want, learn anatomy or other related design stuff as you go, and just... Keep trying. Enjoy yourself as well, as nothing is worse than forcing yourself to draw when you ain't enjoying it. It's gonna take a while, you'll likely hate a lot of your art (either at the time, or days/weeks/months later), but you ain't gonna get better without experimenting and just doing it.
If it was that simple and straightforward, yeah! But it never is. The struggle you saw them go through is the one with the *good* outcome. Your ideas are not tied to your skill level and, though very nice in thought, it can get frustrating. I've lost count of how many "awesome" ideas I've had that ended in tears and self doubt. That IS a me problem, the over reacting to failure, but failure is a given. It's important and it shouldn't stop you from trying but it gets...sad if it happens too often you know? Best way to experience your ideas is actually to give them to someone with your desired skill level in my opinion. You can do this for others as well but there's something very satisfying that comes with paying a skilled person to bring your stuff to life for you!
I love the idea of "Eevee evolved-evolved into a new species and got focused into one type and evolution" and how it was executed here. Like how deepening its connection to electricity allowed it to always evolve into Jolteon and to go even further beyond Jolteon.
Adding on: I also love how Jolteon is the second stage. Meaning either you need a thunderstone to get to the mid-evo. Or, what I like to think, *Eevee no longer needs a thunder stone to become Jolteon*. (P.S. I know this wasn’t a type swap Eevee video and instead a role swap between it and pikachu. But this honestly gives me great ideas. Like there are seven other types to focus Eevee into. And even if they don’t evolve further like this video’s Jolteon, there is still so much room to tweak the designs of those initial eeveelutions a little now that their base isn’t normal Eevee.)
@@yannismorris4772Y'know, creative ideas like these would've been WAY better for Future Paradox forms. Instead of just making every FP into a robot, they could've focused on cool ideas for evolution like "What if Eevee lines focused more on one type?" They could've focused on the 3 classic Eeveelutions being Volteon, Vaperon, and Flareon and give them 3 stage lines. Maybe the final evolution could give them an additional unused type for the Eevee family.
As someone with adhd and dyslexia, here's a little trick I do for large texts online: I put it into a text to speech reader and then let it read to me while doodling on the side or similar, makes me actually retain and absorb the info so much better.
I don’t have dyslexia, but I’m getting a diagnosis for ADHD in place soon, and this worked wonders for me when I needed to read The Book Thief for a school assignment. I had trouble getting distracted or bored and slogging through the book, but then I put on the audiobook and it worked wonderfully!
This is by far the most love and effort I've ever seen put into a fakemon video, and I can tell you poured all of yourself into this out of not only love and respect for Pokemon, but for the artistic process as well. So much respect for you- instantly subbed.
I never thought I'd be able to feel an artist's pain through a literal screen before. Your designs turned out amazing and I love them! I really like to headcannon that during stormy days or insane thunderstorms that Volceron are compelled to find high cliffs or climb trees in order to get a shock of lightning and even will climb their trainers houses in order to do so.
Next up on random trivia hour: Raiju, does size really matter? Okay though serious props to your EDITING?? Your editors have such a fine grasp on comedy I laughed out loud at LEAST 3 times (not to make fun of your suffering, I could literally feel it through the screen) It was so satisfying to see you get through this though, esp after you focused more on the body language than the patterns, like?? HOUGH that was so intense, but you nailed it!!! (Also those glitch effects and new sona drops are giving me the best kind of heeby jeebies I'm just SO excited to see a full video with the new you)
Honestly, I keep making my way back to this video because 1. It's honestly pretty cool & quite inspiring, and 2. It kinda helps motivate me whenever I random decide to start trying to draw a Pokemon (which currently as I type this I am doing that, I wanted to draw an Alolan version of Pikachu's canceled final evo, Gorochu, but first wanted to make my own design of Gorochu since from my knowledge there's barely an official design seen yet, but I can't even figure that first one out TwT)
And this my friends- is the magic of art! Being able to express your ideas and thoughts with beautifully formulated images and masterpieces (also mixing Pokémon together, to create sometimes atrocities, because why not) and being able to share you creativity with the world!
I think that you think its is overdetailed is because while Electrivire and Zebstrika have almost the same details as the one you drew, it felt more overly detailed because yours has 3 colors, Yellow, Black and White, while the others has Yellow and Black or Black and White respectively. Both Zebstrika and Electrivire have 2 color restriction (the red on Electrivire is subtle enough to not count.) Just speculation tho.
I was with you the whole way when you were saying that something was missing in the designs. Volceron does definitely look like a Pokémon. Fantastic job! One thing that I do remember Game Freak saying is that for the Pokémon evolution designs they to stay away from the idea of " its like the pre-evolution but bigger/older" I do hope that helps!
I feel like that first design for the final evolution would make a for a great concept for an electric ghost Pokémon, like how most ghost Pokémon have grim back stories, a ghost Pokémon where it’s biased off of an animal being killed by a lightning strike with its skeleton visible would be very interesting to see
Does anyone else legitimately worry about Rea and how they basically destroy themselves working on these drawings? Like- it looks great, but Jesus Christ Rea, please take a break💀💀
Hey guess what?? I'm very proud of you. You took this challenge head on. You faced the issues that would have made a lot of people quit and break down and said, "Y'know what? FUCK THAT, quitting is for pussies!" We LOVE that energy. Not saying you didn't break down at all mind you, but instead that you presevered. You may have a team of friends to support you but one more never hurts- I want you to know at least one fan sits here and looks up to you not for a percieved perfection but instead for your dedication to overcoming your flaws and not being too proud to go "SAAAAAM HELP IM DUMB" to ur friends bc same 😂💙💙💙 I hope this comment makes your day and little brighter and I love you, ok byeeeeee~ 💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜
24:24 I agree with your friend Sam here. The design idea you had for the evolved Jolteon at first was amazing on its own, heck it could even be like a new kind of legendary pokemon imo. It just didn't have ths same body sense as how Jolteon or other Pokemon would have. Over all, You made some excellent designs for Pikachu and Eevee!
this video is honestly such a comfort video for me now, after all the negative things happening in my life right now watching this made me feel so much comfort and calming to my brain, so thank you for the positive content to find comfort in
What I think was a bit off with the first few designs of the normal type pichu was the eyes and the anatomy of the face- example is that the eyes could have been bigger, or the cheeks could have been moved around, anyways that’s only my opinion- I love your art and I don’t think that’s its bad- I still think that the drafts are still pretty cute lol^^
ok watched the entire video and holy shit this is so Good. like the editing. the art. the concepts. the way this shit is so entertaining throughout. loved the insight into ur personal character design process and i frequently had to rewatch parts of this video bc the editing was just. So Neat. probably slightly corny to say this was a treat for my eyes but there's no other way i can express it lol this was so good. [also the neo rea moments....... so true!!!]
WOW OK I'M CRAZY IMPRESSED WITH THESE VISUALS specifically the scene at about 12:00 genuinely wowed me. i'm absolutely in LOVEEEEEE with the expressiveness of the avatar
Sometimes you just need someone on the outside to take a look at what you're doing. Nothing wrong with that. With that, This Line Looks Amazing! If these were real Pokemon, 100% I would use them on my team for a Region. I would never give them up.
I love how the video keeps on glitching out in the new cute style make sense with all the “under construction work every time I looked at it I couldn’t stop giggling.” MORE CHAOS!!
the detail of volceron being able to store electricity to be used to power homes is such a pokemon detail. their overall design is also just absolutely gorgeous and a pokemon i could absolutely see in the show or games. the concept of volceron too!! there is so much to gush over and love about this and i am in awe. you’ve done so well on this!!
I think the water type and psychic type Pikachu's could maybe take a little bit of inspiration from Alolan Raichu? Probably not a _lot_ of inspiration, to keep them distinct, but a few little details calling back to that might be really cute!
this is probably the best speedpaint i've ever watched. just your storytelling and editing alone has me gobsmacked! you reallly put your all into this video, and it shows! i can't wait till you have your own studio man, you're work is phenomenal.
Oh my god the quality of this video is absolutely incredible, I can see how much love and care was put into this woah! Keep it up Rea you are so skilled and your videos always are a highlight to my day :>
I'm no fan of Pokemon but this was really amazing to watch, all the research and information for this one little pokemon. I actually appreciate and respect it since there are hundreds more of Pokemon. Amazing job can't wait till the next one
I now realize HOW AMAZING you're animation skills are, I used to watch your videos with just a joyful attitude because I loved your art, nothing's changed even with the art style but now I realize the depth and work you put into your poses, hands, and just everything over all! I love the anatomy in your drawings, the diversity is one of my favorite things to look at when watching your videos, also I love the way you draw your HANDS, you make it seem so flawless and elegant, and it's just MMMM. Over all I love your art and videos, you're one of my inspirations to keep going in art! :D
I just want to say how much I appreciate the expressiveness and details in this video. Especially, the under construction and new design of ur character (?). Really good, great job on video!
i feel like volceron and luxray would have a natural competition like zangoose and seviper - based on a cat vs dog rivalry and especially as they’re two strong electric types!
the fact that you went through your thought process on how you made this and demonstrated the twists and turns of turning a concept into a reality is really refreshing. The visuals are like the biggest cherry on top. Instant sub because this is very underrated.
First off, LOVE the new design and style 💖💖💖 The "glitching takeover", however, SENT ME because I've been getting back into FNAF these past 2 weeks in hype for Security Breach and they've been doing this series of trailer that have been slowly taken over by static and glitching and purple from Glitch Trap. Not intentional, but a little funny thinking of the new Rea-Design as an evil chibi XD
As an indecisive artist who also struggles with too many thoughts circulating at once and is impatient with my art.....I felt your pain all too well 🥲 Aside from that, your drawings are the absolute cutest, as always. It's always such a treat seeing new videos from you!
That final artwork at the end. I can absolutely imagine it as a black light poster. With the lightning bolt and the bones all being visible in blacklight mode.
Wow the editing in this video is so amazing!!! I love how you were glitching between the old and new art styles for your avatar, it was such a nice way to transition to the new look! Just the editing in this video flowed so well and was very engaging and almost interactive and gave it so much energy and personality! Awesome vid, awesome designs, you did such an amazing job!! Can’t wait for the next vid ^_^
Ok, but like, this was sooo inspiring. The editing was superb, normally I can't sit through a whole speedpaint but you captured the energy so well and kept my attention throughout. I may have to try this challenge myself!
I know she said she hated the designs but I kind of liked them. It reminded me of furfrou how we the trainers are able to customize them. Anyway love your Pokémon designs!!!!! Can I animate you with your fakemon?
Stumbled across your video randomly and I just keep thinking about how much I love your character art and how much time must have gone into drawing so many different poses and expressions (all of which are so dynamic and engaging) and I had to come back and check out more!!!
This was my first video of yours and I absolutely loved seeing the process! That final illustration is the coolest thing I've ever seen, thank you for putting so much time and love into it! 😭💖💖
I like how unique this is, it truest captures how fun and tiring the design process can be Also OMG DECISION PARALYSIS OMG THET CLICKED SO FAST FOR ME LIKE WOW I DIDNT EVEN KNOE THAT WAS AN ADHD THING🤭
I spent my whole 2+ hour class today trying to figure out how to draw a decent cartoon cat. Everywhere I look I see cat mouths now. I was so glad to have my classmates and teacher there for criticism, it’s so hard to see what’s wrong with your own work sometimes.
As a total Pokémon nerd myself, this was an absolute treat and delight to watch! Shit I think I become inspired by just watching it! :D This was worth the wait and I am SO STOKED for the next installment! Thank you bunches for sharing~ keep up the glorious work! ♥ ♥ ♥
I love how it turned out but god it sounds so brutal how long you spent on it, I will never have the power or patience to do something like this, but your determination is just...inspiring. Great job!
Oh the end result is GORGEOUS!! And the whole process is really really interesting to watch, especially as someone who struggles with similar issues. Very excited for the rest!
The amount of stills and frames you used especially considering the details of your art is amazing oh my god this idea looks amazing! Love the new Eevee line! Amazing work!
