What if YOU invest $100,000 in SCHD
$1 invested in US stocks in the 1800s is worth $3.6 million today. That’s a lot of cash, right? But wait a minute. Who has 200+ years to wait for their money to grow? Not you, not me, not even Ben Franklin and his “invest to give” plan. We want our money to grow faster, right?
Well, what if I told you there is a way to make even more money in much less time?
If you liked this video and would like to see more videos like this, we would be happy to welcome you as a subscriber. Thank you very much

I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Very true, you can be passively involved in the markts and still amass wealth-gains using an investment advisor. I first dabbled in stocks late 2019, just before the pandemic, and that same year gained over 150% with no prior investing experience, basically all I was doing was following directions of my advisor. We are working on a retirement ballpark of $3m and I’m certain my goal isn’t farfetched after subsequent investments and tremendous returns so far.

To the question of investing a substantial amount of money in one stock, I have a simple answer: you would be a fool. Wise investing in such a volatile and fickle medium as the stock market mandates diversification. I have over 100k in the market currently, and I possess holding in nearly 100 stocks. I will in the end invest no more than 4k in any one stock. This strategy has already served me very well, as I have some holdings in a very few stocks that have tanked in the past year or so, and those are virtually not effecting my overall dividend payouts.

The math isn't mathing... I usually can duplicate the numbers from these videos in my spreadsheet, but with this video, things don't line up with the parameters given. First year matches precisely, but after 10 years I get a balance of $380,594 and a yearly dividend of $11,554. For end of 20 years, $1,448,520 balance with $43,975 annual dividend. 30 years, $5,512,986 and $167,367 respectively. Nothing to sneeze at, but I'd like to know if anyone else did the same analysis and get the same or different results. If the number of shares don't increase, but the dividend DOLLARS increase by 11.39% each year on average, and the ETF price increases by 10.83% each year on average, you get my numbers. It seems as if you are double counting something somewhere... like increasing the dividend PERCENTAGE and multiplying by the ETF balance... that's not the right way to calculate this.
@Johnsmoneyadventures
@Johnsmoneyadventures 5 месяцев назад
The DRIPsystem works by using dividends to purchase additional shares, which then generate further dividends. While the calculator currently doesn't reflect this (working on making that also), it shows the results in the yield.

@@Johnsmoneyadventuresnah, I definitely think you had to of messed up the calculations John. How does the money go up by 14k/14% in the first year, then 9 years later once you hit year 10 the money hasn’t even doubled, then once you go another 10 years the money goes up by 5x, then another 10 years go by and it only goes up 3x. So firstly even if in the first 10 years it didn’t compound at all and just went up by 14 k every year like you said it did in the first year, that would be 240k by year 10 not something close to 190k. Secondly, If you are looking at a constant compounding interest rate the money should go up by the same x every 10 years, that should not change. So if it goes up by 2x in the first 10 years then the next ten years it will then be 2x again, and after another 10 years it will be 2x again. So for example, if you started at 50k with somewhere around a 14% in 10 years it should be around 200k, and in another 10 years it should be somewhere around 800k, and another 10 years it should be somewhere around 3.2 million. Which would be 4x every 10 years. All your other videos seem to have the right calculations but this one doesn’t seem to.

If you want to join the FIRE community , keep adding after you get to $100k in addition to DRIP If you’re 40 and have reached $100k, you’ll have to add much more If you’re 50…. So you're telling me SCHD has a roughly 2x return in the first 10 years, then a roughly 7x return in the next 10 years, then a roughly 4x return in the following years. ... what? 😂 that's some wildly varying compounding happening. This math does not make sense.
