You wake up and open your eyes. The sun always hangs in the west, on the horizon, exactly where it is before you sleep and throughout the rest of the day that follows. There's always been not one, not two, but six crescent moons strewn across the sky. And the weeds in your front yard have always been jet-black. What would it be like to live on another planet?

There's something beautiful about the phrase: "and so all of you, humans from across the galaxy, adapt to the strangeness of Earth together". Also, I would watch that show.
@reeeeko3600
@reeeeko3600 Год назад
It's a calming source of existential dread, to think that there would be humans in the far future capable of exploring the galaxy is a wonder. It might only be a slim chance, but we as humans have evolved to be quite tenacious yet ever so fragile. Imagining how drastic the different exoplanets within reach are, in maybe a few dozen generations we could probably see change in those faraway humans.

ive always noticed that somehow, if we consider all factors, everything seems to be always balanced
@ghurcbghurcb
@ghurcbghurcb Год назад
@@lmaomoofeq2505 I think it's the case of counting the hits and ignoring the misses. The Earth has a tilt, and so does the Moon's orbit. Does that seem balanced? And the Moon doesn't maintain its orbit, it's getting closer to us. The number of days in a year is not a whole number. There's more water on Earth's surface then there is dry land. Matter GREATLY outweighs anti-matter. SOME things are balanced. Others are not. And when we're talking about such wast groups as "a thing" and as vague concepts as "balanced", I don't think it's possible to tell if there are more of one or the other. And those things that are balanced have a reason to be this way. Two stars circling around their center of mass, staying at the same distance from each other. Had their masses and distance not been "balanced" they would crash into each other and there would only be one star. Or to be more specific, they wouldn't even form as two separate stars in the first place. If herbivors weren't "balanced" with the amount of plants in their area, most of them would die and the balance would be reached once again. Some systems create balance, others don't. And there's nothing weird or miraculous about it. That's just nature.

Fun fact its recently been proposed that convection currents and heat dissipation mean that the planet actually equalizes its temperature, the cool side warming and the warm side cooling meaning there is a much wider habitable region than originally thought. Otherwise the temperature differential in the habitable zone would likely cause horrific storms and pressure systems which would prevent habitation.

Even without rotation it could still have a magnetic field. If the planet has a solid inner core and liquid outer core like earth, that's already a start. If there's a temperature difference between the inner/outer core boundary, and outer core/mantle boundary, this could cause convection currents to form in the outer core. If so then that could cause the planet to possibly have at least a weak magnetic field. Our magnetic field is caused by earth's rotation, and possibly by convection currents as well in the outer core.

I experience lack of motivation even with the things I like and wish to achieve. For example: I like anime related art quite a lot and think it would be cool to one day make my own story with it. However I won't bring myself to study this anatomy so that I can get better and meet my goals. So I likely won't be able to do what I want to do.
