Well thanks to you I no longer have to buy an entire another Ikea drawer shelf I asked them about it and they sent me a new part. Thank you.

I've had Ikea send me replacement parts on products over 15 years old. I keep all assembly instructions in a file so I can give them the actual part number. The Ikean was blown away when I gave the very old parts number for a discontinued connector. It was for a cabinet I had disassembled for a move. He did some research and called me back a couple of days later. He had found something similar and had already put a dozen in the mail. It was a tiny bit shorter but still worked. Talk about great customer service.

Yeah, Ikea takes notes from it’s homeland on consumer practices. There’s strict consumer laws in Scandinavia, so if they take a perk that’s expected of them and bring it to a place it’s unheard of, of course it’s gonna be popular.

I remember some guy requesting every part on some IKEA table one by one and after a while he got the whole thing for free

I would like to point out that there is a major exception to this: IKEA has to still make/store the part you lost. After a recent move, the moving company lost the screws for the computer desk I had bought in 2012 from IKEA. They did not make the desk nor those particular screws anymore so they could not replace that part. Though bless the person in the customer service department that tried to find a close approximation to work. It didn't but I bought the replacement desk at IKEA.

as someone who just got a whole new living room from ikea i had to deal with this personally. they didnt include wall attachment and one of the hinges of a door was broke on delivery. they mailed us the pieces within 4 days. their customer service is top tier. also their billy bookcases are def something to check out!

this works EVEN if you bought a ikea product from second hand. i bought a child bed from a neighbour and it was missing a part so after i talked to ikea they shipped it for free to me.

A friend of mine worked at IKEA. Here in Sweden the average person spend so much at IKEA in their lifetime that it's better to replace anything instead of losing a customer. My brother got drunk and jumped on the bed until it broke (the bed was at least 5 years old). He took it to IKEA and got a new one no questions asked.

Crazy how I need a new of every single part

Come each week and talk to a different employee telling them a different part is broken at the end you'll have 2 products for the price of 1 😄

So just get the parts list and keep going back until they give you them all, free!

That’s how most products that require assembly work. You just call them and tell them the part is defective or wasn’t in the kit, they’ll send you a new one.

I actually found this on my own when i needed replacement mounting plates for my table legs. 3 new plates with shipping were free

You need to have the original receipt from when you have purchased your product. That is one of the conditions you have to follow up with.

This actually works, they even looked up the part for me, and told me where to go ask for it in the store
