They're from the Netherlands, so called Indo rockers, originally from the former dutch colony Indonesia. The pioneers in our country. The leader/gitarist was Andy Tielman. He was still performing before his death a few years ago.

The Tielman Brothers was the first Dutch-Indonesian band to successfully venture into the international music scene in the 1950s. They were one of the pioneers of rock and roll in The Netherlands, and are credited with releasing the first Dutch rock and roll single, "Rock Little Baby of Mine" in 1958. Wikipedia

The Tielman brothers were the first Dutch-Indonesian groups to make it internationally. They were Indonesian who were condemned by their President at the time, who viewed western rock n roll as a threat so they took it to the Netherlands. They were pioneers of rockabilly sound in the Netherlands. They were influential on many of the Rockabilly sounds from that era. The Beatles were influenced by them and Paul and George were both impacted by their bass and guitar styles. Great stuff!

I think I am one of the ones that recommended this. The Tielmans were Indo-dutch(Indonesian immigrants to Holland), and apparently there was a whole Indo-Dutch rock and roll scene in Holland back then. The Van Halen brothers are half Indonesian(through their mother)and were born in Holland, so maybe it's something in the water. Dutch bands have had a surprising amount of success in America over the years. We all know Golden Earing and Focus, but you also have Mouth & McNeil, The Tee Set, The George Baker Selection, Taco, and The Shocking Blue that have all had major hits in the U.S.

Mouth & McNeil--How Do You Do...I know they've reacted to this one. The Tee Set--Ma Belle Ami was a top 10 hit The George Baker Selection--Little Green Bag was a top 20 hit, and Paloma Blanca sold 7 million worldwide. Taco--Putting on the Ritz...huge hit here The Shocking Blue--Venus...#1 hit in U.S., and Bananarama took a remake to #1 more than a decade later. You've heard this in commercials. These were all between 1969 and the early 1980's. Holland is one of the top exporters of pop/rock music to America of any country where English is not the first language.

You need to hear from 1958 "Rumble" by Link Wray. This song was in the movie Pulp Fiction and even used in a commercial. It was one of the earliest songs in rock music to utilize distortion and tremolo. Rolling Stone ranked Wray at No. 45 on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.

How about something instrumental from the era of guitar hits of the early 60s. For example ”Telstar” by The Tornados (1962), ”Ghost Riders in the Sky” by Neil Levang (1961), ”Apache” by The Shadows (1960) ”Wipeout” (1963) or ”Walk Don’t Run” (1960) by the Ventures. And yes "Wipeout" might even be better with The Surfaris.

I was today years old the first time I heard of the Tielman Brothers - what a phenominal band! Their stage presence, their music, everything! And drumsticks on guitar strings? That's new to me; I've seen a French rock star called Matthieu Chedid use a violin bow or a stadium guardrail on his guitar's strings, though - that sounded kind of cool, but nothing like the drum sticks. I wonder if a young Jimi Hendrix saw this performance and was inspired to learn to play guitar behind his back?

Turning 65 in a couple months... Never heard of these dudes... That said, the Les Paul guitar is a huge part of R&R history...

Thank you so much for bringing these guys to our attention. I never would have known if it weren't for the two of you!

Yes! Yes! I've been waiting for years to see these guys pop up on a Reaction channel of sorts. I first came across these guys back in the early days of RU-vid, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Such a wild performance for its time.

Wow, that was wild! And this was in 1960? I'm impressed.

And the drummer played guitar !! (Remember when Marty McFly played at the HS dance and the audience just stood there stunned? Thinks that's what we had here, the audience just didn't know how to react to them.)

It's just about normal Rockabilly. This was the type music that started in the 1950's with people like Chuck Berry and Carl Perkins.

So my first thought when seeing this was it might be some very advanced AI production. In my 70 years of living and breathing everything music related I was totally speechless watching this performance. Where has this video been hiding all these years ? These guys are true pioneers as musicians and entertainers. Simply , wow.

OMG, how did these guys slip under my radar all these years? Did I switch timelines or something? Wow!

This was cool. The shoes they’re wearing were called white bucks and they identified you as cool in the 50s. They were a buffed leather that had the texture of suede. My 15 years older brother who graduated in ‘54 had them and they were his pride and joy. Great throwback here!!!

Amazing! Like a lot of other people here, I had never heard of them before. Great rockabilly and show. I'm 62. They were a little before my time and I am so happy you did one of their songs. Thank you to whoever suggested this one. I will be checking out more of them.

1967 suggestion - "A Cowsills Medley" by The Cowsills. I think you'll be amazed by their harmonies and John Cowsill's drumming. One of the songs they cover is The Mamas And The Papas "Monday Monday". Great songs of theirs - "The Rain, The Park And Other Things, Indian Lake, Hair.
