BRO I SAID THE EXACT SAME THING TO MYSELF!!! I'm 44 and grew up with Pantera and to see a youngster feelin' this song for the first time the way I always have brought an ear to ear smile to my face!! Rock on lil bro🤘💀🤘
We metalheads are really calm people in real life. There are those bad apples too, but mostly we are calm after conserts and gigs. We just put our feelings in the music. Media makes us look the bad guy, because of the music what we're listening.
I've been stopped by police while growling to some metal on several occasions because they thought I was a danger to society, they come to find out I'm just "in it".🤣🤣
Most of us get our aggressions out through music. I appreciate having this outlet, it gives me a way to work through frustration without taking it out on the people around me.
@@Skege1000 And if it isn't understood by the mother-may-I, Karen-class it has to be regulated, controlled and banned. Just ask them. Metal is Freedom!
Now you need to listen to Cemetery Gates! The guitarist is Dimebag Darrell, one of the greatest guitar players, ever. But, was taken from us. And the drummer is Dimebag’s brother Vinny Paul. May they both RIP. ❤️
That is the one and only Dimebag Darrell on guitar. Sadly taken from us way too soon. I just introduced my 5 year old mini metalhead niece to Pantera the other day with this song. Also... you need to hear Cemetery Gates.
And unfortunately much of the innocence within the scene went with him. This is pretty much why you can't stage dive anymore, and why often there's rails between the band and fans.
@@billhicks6449 you have a point. It was even more than that to me, it was like the older generation when Elvis died. He and Vinnie are my patron saints.
What occasion do you listen to this song? 1.) Cleaning your house 2.) Working out 3.) Pissed off and need to vent 4.) Enjoying kick ass music! The list goes on..... \m/
This song was written by the lead singer. The band was starting to get successful and this was his answer to some "friends" that were talking smack behind his back in his hometown. They were sucking up to his face but trashing him to mutual friends behind his back. This was his reply.
This song is for anyone being disrespected. Cemetery gates is cool. Knew these guys before they got big n were kind to anyone n everyone they practiced in the country of Oklahoma in a room that barely fit their equipment the persona is opposite of how they acted towards people
If you want an entire album pretty much made to be an adrenaline rush, made for releasing your anger, working out/working your body, Pantera "Vulgar Display of Power" is the album for you. Every track is a form of Rage given as a gift to you. "This Love", "Walk", "Fucking Hostile", etc. Every one.
I don’t know man. I like vulgar display of power a lot, but it’s pretty intense for someone who hasn’t listened to a lot of metal. I listened to walk a few times before the album, but the album was still pretty shocking because of how intense it was
I worked at a haunted attraction in New Orleans. The lead singer was one of the founders of that place. It was called...The House of Shock. So much fun to scare the hell out of people. I've met him twice. He's a strait shooter with 0 filter. You love Phil Anselmo or you hate his guts. Simple as that.
Hey Jojo, my fondest memory of this track is from around '93ish, driving a car full of friends home from a metal club called the Agincourt, in Aldershot, England. (Context; we were all VERY high) I started singing "Walk" but in an Operatic style, everyone joined in, we smashed it out of the park, epic. Then I noticed I'd been driving in the wrong direction for 10 minutes. Worth it.
One of the first real fist fights I ever got in, I was listening to this song, on tape, on my walkman. Man... almost 30 years ago now... So many great memories from Pantera! And Ive never needed an occasion to play Pantera. Playing Pantera IS the occasion.
If you haven't already you need to listen to Pantera "this love". This joint "respect" and "this love" are two of their best. Also, "cemetery gates". You'll dig them the same or more even. Respect my G! 👊🇺🇲
This song is more representative of their usual sound. They are the biggest Groove Metal band in Metal, whereas the previous song you heard was a live performance of one of their more Thrash Metal songs.
!*PS: when you react its so real and makes me laugh cause you like ask questions.. we are all like...Awww...he wasnt even born when we heard this... and you listen.. so kewl*~
I gotta say tho there’s a difference between spittin bars with some sick flow and singing super melodically. I can see where he’s coming from saying it sounds like rapping in some parts as I’ve thought the same thing listening to Walk and definitely on Cowboys From Hell the song.
Its like rapping because it hits the beat in a smiliar way. Listen to vinnie paz or ill bill which are both huge metal fans and you’ll see big similiarities
Personally this worked perfectly to listen to when you are on deployment in a conflict zone. Gets your adrenaline levels up and you get your aggressive side to emerge. Rage against the machine also gets the job done.
I watch a lot of reaction videos and love pantera. Your description of this song being a calm anger is one of the best I’ve ever heard. Keep killin it.
Yooooo! So funny what you said that at the beginning of the video, this song is off of the Vulger display of power album which literally has a guy getting punched in the face as the cover art... plus I loved the sourpuss face you put on when the beat dropped after the solo. Thats the face we all put on during this song, white, black, mexican or anyone else it spands all cultures. Thanks for being open to new music.
Bad ass concert! 1996 Ft. Worth, Texas. Thier relationship with the Dallas Stars was EPIC! The memory of Belfour, Modano, Hull... skating out to Pantera's opening tune was priceless.
This is one of my go to songs for either 1) I'm done taking crap for the day and I need something to feed that energy to or 2) I need to pump up for something and I need to build that energy. The older I've gotten, the more I realize that this intense energy can be focused in more ways than just frustration and anger.
I've listened to metal since the mid 80's and I know what you mean. It is a musical genre that is so misunderstood because all people see is the image or they just assume it is screaming guitars and vocals, rather than seeing the emotion behind it. The power of music can really change your whole outlook and emotion, from listening to thrash metal to give you that pumped up, lets do this, to the softer sounds at the other end that really speak to you and the way you're feeling.
If you're going to check out a first Pantera album from start to finish, don't do Cowboys from Hell, do Vulgar Display of Power, their most kick ass material written for an album. Every Song is Ligit... And lit.
Calm rage is the emotion of this song. This type of song is why metalheads tend to be well adjusted. (Of course there are exceptions) we don't need a therapist, we just need our music.
“It makes me wanna do something, it makes me wanna...” lol I wish you could have seen it live. You were doing something, trying not to get your brains stomped in in the pit!
That'll be the late great Dimebag Darrell on guitar. You should do reactions to Cowboys From Hell, Cemetery Gates, The Sleep, Primal Concrete Sledge, Mouth For War, This Love, Fucking Hostile, 5 Minutes Alone, Broken, Becoming, Drag The Waters....
This is Groove Metal at its finest You play this kind of music when you want to get amped up You play this kind of music when you want to vent frustration You play this kind of music when you want a mosh pit to break out
I got to go back stage and do a meet and greet and I told Phil he fu#$ing rocked... He grabbed my hand and almost headbutted me into unconscious...one of my finest concert moments, they were riding each other around in a shopping cart, it was nuts.... Yes, musically, they are unreal...
Got to see them live at Ozzfest in Memphis either 97 or 98. This Love was crazy, but the pit opened up when they played Fking Hostile!!! Show was insane
Saw them in Providence RI '91at a dive bar when they were on Cowboys from hell tour and Prong was headlining. There was so many Pantera fans in the bar they let Pantera headline. I never saw them before and stood by the right side of the stage in front of Dime. Pretty much in back of the monitor. I was blown away by him and the band but never saw anyone use the whammy bar backwards. Once Phil said our stage is your stage the whole place went fucking insane. Looked like the video for Cowboys from Hell. These guys will always have a flag at the top of the mountain next to Cliff Burton. Peace. Enjoy these Jo Jo. Brings back a lot of memories.
I believe the word you are looking for is powerful. Which describes Pantera as a whole. Strength Beyond Strength 🔥🤘🤘🔥🔥 Also that song would make for a great reaction!! Strength Beyond Strength- Pantera
RIP Dime & Vinnie. The greatest brother duo that ever lived! I'm honored & humbled that Pantera was my first concert EVER. May sweet Satan continually honor them both!!! 666 \m/ \m/
@@izazoz9259 Satan is just a gimmick for Metal music. Slayer isn't even satanic. Tom is Catholic. Dime and Vinnie hopefully made it to heaven if there's such place. They are a great brother duo.
@@izazoz9259 Look it up. Slayer is not satanic and neither is Pantera. Their words, not mine. There's interviews that will reveal the truth. Keep laughing as you watch the interviews.
@@headsicknation1365 I'm probably older than you have actually met Slayer before their guitarist died. Not to mention, I've been practicing the occult for over 30 years. You do realize there's different types of Satanism, right?
I seen Pantera in the late 90's. It was a kick ass concert. Me and my two friends went and were in the front of the mosh pit. It was insane in the pit!!!!
Just got done watching a live streamed concert with the singer of Pantera, Phil Anselmo, and his band The Illegals do a whole set of Pantera songs. It was fun as shit. Wish I coulda be there live of course but hey, ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. Been a fan of Pantera since I was 12, I'm nearly 38 and still love 'em. Saw them live @ Ozzfest 2000 when I was 17. One of the best shows I've seen to this day, and I've seen a lot of fuckin' great shows. Also, anytime I get to watch someone react to Pantera for the first time, it's a treat. Pantera for life! R.I.P. Dime & Vinnie. \,,/ \,,/
the guitarist in Pantera is Dimebag Darrell. his brother Vinnie Paul is on drums. Hands down Dimebag is a once in a generation musician. RIP to them both. as for when would listen to this? well...when im getting up in the morning, when im driving to work, after work, when im cleaning. basically any time you need an adrenaline spike
I find it super cool that you are open to other musical styles. Most people around me don't listen to rock, let alone metal, and are completely closed off as if it were impossible to appreciate different musical styles, I really find that too bad to be closed like that. I did several festivals in France and there are few black people, but those I saw made me really happy
Dude you should check out some Doors, specifically 'Riders on the Storm' and 'Break on Through To the Other Side'. Their lyrics are some next level stuff
A radio morning show troupe in St. Louis play a game with a semi annual/annual punishment for the loser(s). One year it was to walk from the old station to the new one (21 miles), in the middle of summer. It was a live event so people could come out and say hi or bring them water but one guy used his lunch break to follow them around for 20 minutes playing Walk. Genius.
1:38 "This is a song that makes you want to punch somebody in the face or something". The album cover literally has somebody getting punched in the face. Love it Jojo keep up the good work buddy.
You called it with this song, its an anger but more of a focused determined anger. Like a march. Disciplined yet ready for war. The ending of the song where the beat changes up is the war itself.
One of the craziest concerts I've ever seen live. A mosh pit at a Pantera show. I saw an ear get ripped off and body surfers everywhere. They had about 100 body guards in front of the stadium I'm glad I got to see them when Dime Bag got shot on stage during a show. So sad.
You should see the video of this song that shows the concert so you can see the crowd (just for you not a reaction video) it add a whole new element to it
Im sure im not the first in these comments to say this but Dimebag Darrell on guitar was shot in the head onstage by a crazy fan in Ohio . Right in front of his brother the drummer . I cried for real . This band meant so much to me as a kid . Made me stand up for myself no matter if i was getting jumped or 1 on 1 . Thank u PANTERA ! And thanks for treating this music serious even though it aint your style my dude !
YEAAAAAAA!!! Awesome reaction. Yea like the calm before the storm. You looked like exactly how they wanted you to feel. You got it. If you want another great Pantera song we are on discord and it was suggested 'This Love'. One of the best break up songs. Love you brother. Keep doin your THANG!!!
I love watching these metal reaction videos and channels. It’s fun trying to turn these people into metal heads. Keep doing your thing mate love the videos
I play this song to hype myself up and prepare myself to knit sweaters. That's nothing against the song and it doesn't mean it's soft.. it just means I am pumped up about knitting sweaters. 🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Crazy thing is they use to be a Glam Rock band back in the 80s playing local clubs around Houston, Tx where I live. My older sister use to party with Dimebag and them. They then switched to this type of music and they gave her n friends tickets to their show with their different sound. She said the place was going crazy. Not her type of music(she liked the Glam/Hair/Rock), but she said they kickedass.
