I needed to hear this. As a married father of four I have defaulted to passivity too much in my life. Thank you for your wise words of encouragement. God bless you.

Thank you for including the part about the passsive man. Two years ago I was discerning marriage with a man. I was 💔 saying no when he asked me to marry him. He was so sweet and kind, but he could not be trusted to take initiative, and I knew in my core, I would feel alone in marriage. I also noticed myslef becoming angry and frustrated towards him, somethng really out of chatacter for me. I spent two years thinking I made a mistake and not being able to forgive myself, especially seeing him move on after 2 months, but God's love and grace superseeds all and I saw God's work in all of my healing. I pray the man from my past has grown and roots himself in Christ and becomes a wonderful biblical man for another good woman someday!

Today in my bible study I read Mathew 5:9, and with this video I understand it more. It says Blessed are the peacemakers... and that not only means that a man of God should have peace with everyone but it is also a called to action. What I mean is, as a man that follows Christ I need to take action to share and make peace, it is not like just "I will not get in trouble" but more like "I will share this peace even tho I humilliate myself and I get in trouble for doing what is the rigth thing to do". God bless his word, and thanks.

This was INCREDIBLY helpful and encouraging. I have passive men on my dad’s side of the family and harsh men on my mom’s side. It’s been really hard for me lately to pin down biblical masculinity -versus just Christlikeness. These are such good points and they are stated so well. Initiative instead of hardheadedness. Courageous instead of wrathful or violent. Very well said. Thank you both for your diligence and care on this!

The fact that this is even a talking point shows where the World is right now! The biggest point of FATHERS! The lack of fathering and instead becoming the child’s friend as the top priority is a massive flaw in today’s society!

I am really happy you called out male passivity and labeled it for what it is. A sin!

Priest Eli was passive he didn't rebuke his two sons. We all know how God dealt with him.

There's a lot of problems here. In one sentence. You shouldn't act impure towards women but when Christ comes back your impurity will not matter. We're not saved through actions but through faith alone. As I suppose he said. Women can take the initiative in some situations. In some situations it is ok to not be ok and need help and micromanaged. God should do that. Men get discouraged, men get desperate, men get depressed. Those feelings are ok. It's ok to get out of them at your own pace. None of these things were mentioned. I agree with most things here and some are unbiblical. I agree and disagree with you. One question though. Is everyone who promotes that men should have full time jobs also offering them full-time jobs or just being "You need a full-time job according to us. Jesus helps you with that not us. We have opinions, not solutions."? 1 John 4:1 ESV [1] Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is why the long comment. Plus my own trust issues. I do not outright believe anyone. Not truly. Edit: I slept on it and realized that this that's demanded here is basically what Jesus was and Jesus was the only perfect man. No one else can fully live up to these ideals except Jesus because every one of us is broken in one way or another. Everyone of us struggles with their past and their sinfullness. That limits us into being imperfect men and we will always be imperfect. No one reading this can perfectly follow the Bible but should try their best and that's enough. God doesn't expect perfection because when he sent Jesus to die for you, he knew you will not be perfect in this life. If you think you are perfect you should check because the you would be a self righteous Pharisee and that makes you again imperfect. This idea was also forgotten from the video. The idea of grace and humility. "Be this, be that." is often what men hear from everyone. People often forget that God also gives us grace because he knows we're not perfect. We should do the same, whether you're a man, woman, boy or girl.

This makes me think of the language/slang men use towards women within a friendship, relationship, or even a stranger. For example, calling a woman dude or bruh. Would you say that’s falls into the category of unmanly and un Christlike?
@noname-ed2un
@noname-ed2un 2 месяца назад
I'm not a pastor or a sociologist, but I don't think a man calling a woman dude or bruh is unChristlike. This because dude and sometimes bruh, is more of a general term, as opposed to words like chic or lady. In most cases you can see how it is a general term with the way, men ( I included) will use it. Most guys use the word as an a slang just to communicate with the person in front of them. you can also see an example with how this words aren't commonly used with elderly people,Al as there is a sense of respect and slang would not hold with them. I hope I explained this well, and if there's any question or maybe a falling in my explanation, please ask and I will be quick to answer

There’s nothing masculine about explaining away life’s most complex questions with an invisible man. It’s quite feminine actually.

I respectfully disagree, for someone who has ran from God most of my life. I can tell you that my life has improved ten fold by following his teachings... my recommendation, even if you dont want to become a Christian, adopt some of the principles, and see how your life improves. Wish you the best regardless@@JustinWittkopf
