Thank you! I am a meteorologist on radio and internet, serving about 200 stations. We fall into the "announcer" trap all the time. There are many AI "weather casters" out there now. Quite a few of our affiliates have ditched them, in favor of us. We sound 'real' and conversational.

That's a good idea. A professional mike in front of you and a big pop filter can really put you off. Yes, holding a phone, a great tip.

Yes I do officially! I was born and brought up in London and south England, and I suppose I have the "King's English" accent. It is the accent chosen by the BBC as their "standard" accent in the 1920's. The term received pronunciation was coined by phonetician A.J. Ellis in 1869 to refer to an accent used “all over the country, not widely differing in any particular locality…as the educated pronunciation of the metropolis, of the court, the pulpit and the bar.” The definition of received in his use of received pronunciation conveyed the word’s adjectival meaning of “accepted” or “common,” as in the expression received wisdom.
