Thank you! I am a meteorologist on radio and internet, serving about 200 stations. We fall into the "announcer" trap all the time. There are many AI "weather casters" out there now. Quite a few of our affiliates have ditched them, in favor of us. We sound 'real' and conversational.
Yes I do officially! I was born and brought up in London and south England, and I suppose I have the "King's English" accent. It is the accent chosen by the BBC as their "standard" accent in the 1920's. The term received pronunciation was coined by phonetician A.J. Ellis in 1869 to refer to an accent used “all over the country, not widely differing in any particular locality…as the educated pronunciation of the metropolis, of the court, the pulpit and the bar.” The definition of received in his use of received pronunciation conveyed the word’s adjectival meaning of “accepted” or “common,” as in the expression received wisdom.
Its immensely humorous to me that this guy gets so many hate comments on this video from armchair "engineers", when in fact, HE is the one making a comfortable living from it.
So glad to have found this channel!! I dont like my voice at all, its so weak and thin. So much so that I love it when I have a bad throat. But i really want to train myself to speak better and these trainings look promising 🤞
right now i have done lots of commercial VO demos and agencies ive gotten work with, but i dont know how to make it a full time career from just this, how can I get to the next level?
@VoiceovermasterclassI don't know if you might be available for a brief call I'm reaching out to discuss an exciting business opportunity to enhance your Udemy course. The goal is to increase the visibility of your course, attract a broader audience, and cultivate positive reviews. @ YAGI TEAM WW I'll be looking forward to your response Thanks
Very interesting presentation. Just wondering wouldn't AI voices or other speech software be more feasible than hiring multiple narrators? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using the same?
Is there an ethical dilemma in using free scripts for a demo designed to prime for paid work? Some sites advise “DO NOT use these for your demos.” (as many people use them.) You’ve answered this already, perhaps. Are there potential legal ramifications?
It's best not to use any "real" scripts either old ones or current ones as won't it be embarrassing if the agency who you send your demo to hear you reading one of their scripts! I doubt if they would sue you, unless it was a secret project under strict NDAs. I suggest that you just use any of the "dummy" scripts that we provide at VoiceoverMasterclass as part of the VoiceoverSucessProgram, or just make up your own if you like! The actual content doesn't matter, the potential clients are going to be listening to your voice quality and how you tackle different types of script.
From Cincinnati but lived closed to Lexington KY for six years.. i don't think i have an accent, but I've had ppl say i have a Southern twang.. this absolutely frustrates me, I def don't want to sound country at all
Thank you for this amazing video. I spend a lot of time to chop the breaths from my online tutorials. I guess, I should follow the point of lowering the volume in those sections. Is there a faster way to handle this as I do not want to spend much time doing this? I use Camtasia to produce my videos.
I have a question: Is it possible to “green screen” your subject, leaving the background undisturbed? Ideally, I would use for pics in order to “install” any new image at will
I work in customer service taking calls 8 hours a day. It's very upsetting when a customer as soon as I greet them say: Transfer me to an agent in the United States. Or, as soon as I greet them, they ask: Where are you from? Ufff....I have to deal with this all day longggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's sooooo annoying. Seriously. People are just nasty and prejudiced. They completely dislike you and feel you will not be able to assist them as an American would. It makes my job sooo difficult. I NEED desperately to get rid of my accent. I came to the United States when I was 20 years old from South America. I speak Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, English and I am studying German. It's funny you mention German on this video. There are many new sounds I am learning, but I must say it's the hardest language I ever studied so far. The first time I encounter an r, I almost died! Try saying bruder (brother in German, or bread) I'm having a blast though. I love languages. I want to learn Latin and Mandarin as well. I wonder if the German people would also look down on me if I don't speak German with perfect pronunciation, as a native.
