Just tested my Tovi Mirage Pro VIII 85 flex, T92 blade and my kids used their 20 Tovi Raven and 30 Raven for the first time today. Man super light stick (relatively to my Sherwood stick), and incredible puck control with out of the box applicator. Great accuracy and pop on chip and wrist shots. My U9 son used it in a game today and there was a slight chip on the bottom of the blade. Not sure how durable these sticks will be in the long run but time will tell.
2 week update, man these sticks are incredible. I'm even more impressed by the longevity and durability of the liquid tape. My stick and the kids' sticks were still doing okay with the factory liquid tape application, but man I did a full application to my U9 son's stick and it lasted through an intense 4 game tournament with many opponents stepping on the blade, bashing my son's stick and hours in between of ball hockey on some beat up floors. I waited another week of heavy practices and more games before doing my first liquid application and after 7 more sessions of many battles with older kids, my U9 son's stick looks brand new. I just did an application to my U7 son's stick as we have a busy weekend of games and practices. I didn't have to do it but couldn't wait to do a first application on his stick. My U7 son plays games within the half ice format so there us constant contact with the other team including lots of toes of sticks being dragged across the boards. I let other coaches use my stick and I've probably been on the ice with the Tovi Mirage about 10 sessions coaching. The other coaches let it rip on the shots, and the factory coat has held up no problem. I've yet to take it to a beer league game but I'm sure the blade will hold up no problem. One thing I was concerned about at first was the durability of the liquid tape on the bottom of the blade and on the toe. I honestly don't know how it lasts so long as there have been no issues of excessive wear or chips in the toe, something that wears immediately when you tape sticks around the toe and use scissors to cut.
To me these would be appealing if we knew they lasted longer without losing pop / cracking on blade. Have you played with these in enough games to have an opinion on long-term durability?
@4TheLoveOfHockey told me he didn't need an adjustment period at all vs his bauer stick. He got in some solid poke checks as a rotating defense man (he's normally a left wing). He told me the stick helped him to play well, but I'm one of the team coaches, so I'm always hard on him 😅 Jokes aside, I think his shot has remained the same, maybe a bit weaker when trying to clear the puck on the boards out of the zone. We have a practice in an hour with lots of shooting so I'll update if I notice any key improvements, but it's still early days as it would be all of our second sessions with the Tovi stick (Mirage Pro 85/T92, Raven 20/T92 (U7 selects son), Raven 30/T92 (U9). We are on the ice about 5 to 6 days a week with often double sessions or 3 hour days, so I'll get a better idea how the liquid tape endures.
You just proved there is a limit to when a lower flex starts effecting shot power. You put everything into those 50s and they just lagged so bad. I forgot what the senior is but I’m guessing it’s about 70 and shows that is kinda the limit before lower flexes start effecting the recoil of the stick. Let’s see some game action that you actually use it ;)
