What is a Dybbuk Box? A Closer Look the Ghost Adventures Cursed Box

Hello everyone! I have had this video sitting in my queue for over a month but because of work, I hadn't had time to edit it.
I wanted to do this video because while binge-watching a few paranormal shows I saw it come up and later learned that Zak Bagans has what is considered 'the' Dybbuk box at his museum. I decided to do a lot of research about it because I was intrigued and ended up finding out that the whole idea is more or less a hoax.
Because Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventures crew are so widely known and often taken at face value by many people, I think it's important to emphasize the truth of their findings. There are numerous discrepancies in the story of the Dybbuk Box, and to have it perpetuated in a similar way to the 'ZoZo' demon, (which is another issue I have with them) I believe, harms the paranormal research field.
I hope that you learn something from this video -- if anything the importance of being skeptical in some matters. Although the paranormal is very much real, it's important to sort out the fact from fiction so that the truth can be better understood.

You are awesome! Just happened upon your channel and so glad that I did....I also subscribed to all. Your grueling research in order to provide proper and informative and precise details to us is very professional and your delivery is amazing....not to mention your intellect....it's apparent you are brilliant. Thanks for posting this one....fascinating subject, love this stuff! Looking forward to your future videos. The 'ghost' shows, the 'paranormal' shows so rigged, please don't get me going. Notice, there's always an EVP response right away, there's lots of activity 'right away'....I'm fifty nine and we held many seances when young, did the Tarot card thing, psychics all of it....I'm pretty apt at spotting what's 'fake'. You are keeping it real and for that you get my utmost respect.

Good episode. Thanks for hitting on this. I did some research on my own after watching the movie "The Possession" because I think I remember reading somewhere that it was based on actual events? I was pretty skeptical myself, but this kind of stuff fascinates me, so I did the research. I'm not a Paranormal Investigator and have no ambitions to be, but it was clear pretty quickly that Dybbuk Boxes aren't a real thing, but I don't really see it as being a real threat to legitimate paranormal investigation. I think it's shitty if some people are trying to market these things as actually containing a demon, but with as easily as I found out for myself that this wasn't a real thing, I guess rationalize it through that saying, "a fool and his money are soon parted". I would think that anyone who wants to find an authentic box (if such a thing exists), would likely have done the same groundwork as I beforehand. I think they are beautiful conversation pieces in a dark and gothic sense, and maybe that's why most people want them anyway. Just my thoughts. Again, good show. Thanks for sharing your thoughts

Nash: Is there anybody there? *crickets* Heh. But that's the lonely experience only of you and your crew. Your packaging up of your thoughts is at once persuasive and entertaining. Sounds like a formula that would have audience appeal. Their experience would have the thrill of entertainment.

Until you have been physically attacked by nothing there, seen first-hand, objects flying off your shelves and much more as I have, you debunk it as fake. May you never find yourself the target of an entities wrath. It's all fake until it isn't. Then what?

I honestly thought I was guna get annoyed of her skeptical sounding self HOWEVER not only I learned more about dybbuk or dibbuk meaning but the history of the word and the boxes which I've heard so many times but she did her timeline well to understand the whole concept. I applaud for doing just a great report on this, I myself have been in the paranormal world since 2017 recruited by amateur Paranormal crew, atheist my entire life, Investigated for 3 years as a skeptic, till 2020 my first demonic encounter from learning and spreading info about demonology. I guess demons don't like big mouths even tho they never cared about me provoking them in investigations before or playing the ouija. Anyways I've been to the haunted museum a total of 10 times now been near the box alone one time for 15 min which is the max time you're allowed for zaks after hours tour I paid for and never ever feel any dark presence or discomfort near the box. So makes sense on everything she said, mad respect and thanks for making this video 👌

Thank you for researching this. I wondered about the legitimacy of this story when I first heard about it, and pretty much did the same thing as you (but not as in depth), researching the origin of the word. If anything, these boxes may have Tulpas attached to them, created from the belief of those that give credence to their "curses". This is very similar to how charms work. Edit: I just wanted to add, these boxes seem very like the bottles that King Solomon sealed "Genies" in (or "Jinn" if you prefer). Perhaps the idea came from these stories, as both are Jewish creations.

Awesome vid and ild love to see you debunking all the paranormal hunter type shows. To show which ones actually seem to be taking it serious while being entertaining of course and which ones are just post bs for ratings.

I've had a negative, terrifying experience with a ghost, and these paranormal shows are all full of sh*t. Anyone who 100% knew that something they could not touch or see was near them, and had the ability to move physical objects, pound on walls and stomp on the floor around them, would be so thoroughly terrified that they would Never return to that home or area. And I promise you, they would Never go looking for ghosts, or whatever you want to call them, ever again.

I have but could not move out. It took years to stop the paranormal activity and physical attacks. I am agnostic, so no, Christ didn't do it. I used White WitchCraft.

Hey Nash! I'm not sure if it's just me, but it seems like your mic is really quiet...even when watching on my big screen, I can barely hear you. No worries if everything is good, I just figured in case something was off. Its great to see your videos again!

Thank you for pointing this out! When I edit these I use my headphones and sometimes it's difficult to gauge the volume in my editing software because it tends to sometimes get oddly louder or quieter when I export it. 😅 Thank you for letting me know, I'll have to check my settings before the next one and make sure it stays high enough before uploading it!

This is something I was very much fascinated by, but I also felt sorry you had so much rubbish from these "experts" to go through! I've always been sceptical about shows this like this when I see them in the UK, and it kinda makes me sad because sometimes presenters similar to ones you've mentioned just act so ridiculously to the point it seems like they're making fun of everything they're talking about :/

To split a soul up into the (11: Da'at) 10 emanations of creation and entrap is different than a Dybbuk.

The Dybbuk box, or The Dibbuk box (Hebrew: קופסת דיבוק, romanized: Kufsat Dibbuk), is a wine cabinet claimed to be haunted by a dybbuk, a concept from Jewish mythology. The box gained notoriety when it was auctioned off on eBay by owner Kevin Mannis, who created a story featuring Jewish Holocaust survivors and paranormal claims as part of his eBay item description. Mannis' story was the inspiration for the 2012 horror film The Possession. In 2021, Mannis told Input magazine that the Dybbuk Box story was entirely fictional.

I class the various occult-investigator-shows in the same realm as the other "reality" television shows. They need dramatic beats and need to uncover "proof" to keep people entertained. Since you asked about further videos; I like to think that content about things you enjoy will always be better that content about things you hate.

like chinese whispers [stories / exagerrations constantly changing as time goes by]...with the box[es] gaining monetary value continually - all based on nothing but fueling the imaginations of those hooked on the "dark side". Try Ebay for dybbuk boxes - loads of 'em...or i got one for sale for £200 [a disused bedside cabinet, 1980s, - needs a lick of paint though].

“Research” um ok. So is your next video going to consist of you telling your audience to point a loaded gun in their face because you’ve never seen a gun work? Does that sound egregious? I guess it should because there should be enough exposure for you to understand the condition. No different than this box. Paying almost $200 dollars for me and another guest to go see zaks exhibits. They say; “there are no demon haunted houses but there are demon haunted people” Ok sure. Well, one exception. In the neon of plastic fabric, incense, flashing lights and chills, there is a pure evil in Zaks museum. And its the dybbuk box. So before you go dribbling your shills and your homage to logic, why dont you try going there and see what happens. And if you still doubt, arrange with Zak an opening where you can get a feel of for it so none of your dribbling nonsense contaminates any more of your watchers, putting them and us at risk because of your debunking WITHOUT VERIFYING.
