I am a Norse Pagan who enjoys creating both informative videos on the Norse pantheon, as well as gaming let's plays. Based in the middle of nowhere Illinois, there isn't much else to do, so I started this channel as a hobby that has grown to be much more. When I'm not uploading content, I work as a freelance writer, though my goal is to eventually focus more on this channel as it continues to grow.

Fairly recent convert to Heathenry, and I will say, initially I avoided Loki due to Marvel’s influence. That said, I’ve been about interacting and building relationships with deities, and so far Loki has been the most interactive with me. As the interaction grows, so to does my devotion. For some reason, the term “Lokean” rubs me the wrong way, as I prefer to call myself a “Loki-son”. One thing I like to think of in terms of Loki is that if Odin embodies wisdom, Loki embodies knowledge. Hence, why his remarks are often scathing…
Ragnarok is like a repetitive circle it will keep happening there will always be another Odin another Thor another Fenrir to teach us the way in their humane way of no being perfect and being more human like but Loki in the other hand we arent sure ihe perhaps is the same after every Ragnarok he perhaps is the immortal one but even then he will do everything the same way because he knows thinks things need to happen the same way over and over but again that's just my theory my believes not necessary to be yours he aids us in a way that can only aid us we are all different cant apply the same to all and expect the same result
I think God of lies is a fair title if lies are understood in a chaos magick sense, "that nothing is (absolutely)True, everything is permissible" which reminds me of the codes of Mephala that "there can be no official arts, only fixation points of complexity,..." all is maya "illusion" and lila "play," which is why chaotic neutral characters are intriguing, as they have their own narratives which are nonsimple, even nonlinear, and so not reducible to collectives and hierarchies or any kind of dualism. Which is why the question of on Ragnarok whose side will you be on is vexing, as like how Treebeard says nobody is on his side, the question implies taking dualistic sides which is very eutopian. Judeo-Christian and also some Neo-Pagans have a manichean good vs evil worldview where they have to be good which includes following given rules, but I'm not a soldier, so I probably won't die in combat to go to Valhalla unless I really tried to get in that kind of trouble, so my life is not a story about good fighting evil, but there is a lot of chaos and there are various forms of order however most encompassing is the capitalist control structure. We don't live like in viking times with tribes and kings needing militaristic order and duty, but rather a technocratic corporate mass society where there is need of chaos to prevent being merely a small cog in the machine. Loki is very cyberpunk as it's said he invented nets, fishing nets to catch fish, and some say he is a spider sometimes, but nets differ from webs in they're actively thrown, suddenly even, whereas in webs one gets more and more entangled by struggling. So I've become interested in Loki for such reasons among others.
Loki is a horrible being who assaults multiple women , mutilates animals , betrays his family , murdered Baldr and plots the deaths of all other Aesir etc etc. he’s a scumbag POS who is currently being punished and is locked up in chains . Have any of you actually read the Eddas ? Voluspa ? Any of the sacred texts or the plethora of archeological evidence depicting Loki committing crimes and being bound in chains as punishment ? Worshipping loki is like worshipping the Dijin within Islam or demons within Christianity . He is objectively evil and does evil things because he enjoys doing them. And he certainly isn’t speaking to you if you’re a woman , considering he enjoys cutting women’s hair off and calling them whores , seducing (read : raping ) women etc. This isn’t a joke and it isn’t funny. Loki isn’t some quirky misunderstood teenager who just needs a little love, he’s a murderer. He murdered Baldr (Odins son) who was a young adult simply because he was jealous that everyone liked Baldr and not him. He cut Sifs hair off and called her a wh*re for no reason. He tried to break up multiple marriages within his adopted family by lying about infidelity. He’s also into beastiality and a bunch of other messed up things because he’s a messed up guy. Where on earth did you get this delusional idea that he’s some hot renegade ? Netflix ?
As far as Ragnarok goes, here's my 2 cents. A lot of ancient spirituality followed cycles: seasons, moon phases and so on. There has been an observable pattern through out history about every 100 years that repeats a cycle of peace, prosperity, struggle and war. In my opinion, this is Ragnarok. It's a cycle. Loki is a force of change, of progress, shaking up the status quo so we don't become stagnant. Throughout the mythology, wherever Loki is, the situation usually resolves better than it started because of Loki. Now go look at every large war and the advancements we've made as a society after it.

Ive noticed ppl who don't like Loki don’t like to face who they really are and Loki would 100% call them out. They hate them cuz they hate themselves and choose violence instead of love and self responsibility.

Literally I'm going through transitioning FTM and I knew I just had to work with Loki primarily during this new adventure in my life. Of course he's transgender and nonbinary and just anything he wants lol.
I was just casually shuffling my oracle deck (les vampires by Lucy Cavendish) and asked for a sign of Loki was with me..and guess what jumped out? THE 'LOVE CONQUERS ALL' CARD WITH ATTRIBUTES OF ETERNAL LOVE AND LASTING COMMITMENT...I LOVE MY POOKIE BOI SOOOO MUCH 😭
The Norse gods seem to be aspects or reflections of our own humanity. Loki is a part of my own psyche, perhaps a part of my shadow were I to apply Jungian psychology. Accepting that part of myself and integrating it is key to preventing my own “Ragnarok”.

Thank you for researching this. I wondered about the legitimacy of this story when I first heard about it, and pretty much did the same thing as you (but not as in depth), researching the origin of the word. If anything, these boxes may have Tulpas attached to them, created from the belief of those that give credence to their "curses". This is very similar to how charms work. Edit: I just wanted to add, these boxes seem very like the bottles that King Solomon sealed "Genies" in (or "Jinn" if you prefer). Perhaps the idea came from these stories, as both are Jewish creations.
