In this tutorial I review what a Cricut does and the difference between the Explore and Maker and what the new Cricut's can do! I first review that the Explore Air 2 & 3 can cut Vinyl, cardstock, some fabrics and more than 100 different materials. The Explore also has 5 tools that can be purchased separately. The Maker can do all the things that the explore family can plus thin wood, fabric, engraves, embosses, and scores. It can cut over 300 materials, has 12 different attachment tools that can be purchased separately. The maker is considered top of the line and commercial grade. I discuss whether it is necessary to upgrade. The new versions are faster, quieter, and can use smart materials which means it can cut without a mat. You can still use a mat with the new versions so you are not stuck buying only smart materials. What is a good deal? These price ranges are from the past year or since the machine has been out. The Explore AIr 2 is not being manufactured anymore so the price has gone down significantly. The range for the Explore AIr 2 is $169-300, so a good deal would be less than $169! The Explore Air 3 is the newest Explore model and prices are $270-299. Good deal would be under $270. The Explore Air 3 bundle range is $380-384. So a good deal would be under $380. The original Maker has been going between $229-$249 again not being manufactured anymore. A good deal this holiday would be less than $229. The Maker 3 has been going for $360-$400. A good deal would be under $360. The Maker 3 bundle is going for $478-500. Good deal would be under $478. The Cricut easypress 9 by 9 has been going between $119-$190 a good deal would be less than $119. The larger easypress 10 by 12 has been going for $151-$265 a good deal would be under $151. The easypress Mini has been going between $44-$70 a good deal would be under $44. The last item is the mugpress. This range is $149-$200. A good deal would be under $149.
